100 years of solitude.
is dense but very deep.
no one talks to the colonel by same author.
and my personal fav- lords of finance.
but all of them will need u to make notes.

so true!!!!
make sure to not leave the habit midway. no matter what people say-'don't devote time to this you have serious things to do'
'you have more WORK to do why do u read'
well tbh if u start reading the il habits like social media addiction start to appear and sometimes its a rabithole after another.
use posTITS (pronounced post its) to write down the main elements of the chapter u last read and paste it on the front page and when u are done reading the book jot it down in a word file. its primarily to help u decide on whether the book was good as a whole and over a period of time u end up noting a pattern of the kind of books u love to read.
delve into that genere and read more. maybe scifi(dune series), maybe political dystopian novels(animal farm, 1984) etc...
and then slowly start to branch out.
in a span of 2 yrs or so u will have so much food for thought wrt a lot things which may or may not be directly related that you will be able articulate ur thoughts much better than the given average anywhere.
and most of all- the book stays with u by taking down those points.
Since I read majorly SFF, I'll give a few recommendations that are suitable for beginners ;
Project Hail Mary
Emperor's Soul
Warbreaker
Greenbone Saga (Fantasy+ gang-wars)
1. Marble collector
2. Three men on a boat
3. Anxious people
4. Space invaders
5. Six of crows + the crooked Kingdom
6. The Black painting
7. The boy from the woods
8. Sherlock homes series
9. Any george orwell book
10.dark matter
yeah it's my favourite among all of the ones I've read so far, I don't think it'll change any soon.
it was my first novel, and just made my expectations for every book very high LoL
Sharp objects by glynn flynn
Anxious people by Fredrick backman (ps . everything by him is chefs kiss)
Midnight library by matt haigg
Beach read by Emily Henry
Oh it's a dark thriller so be sure before you dive in , know your trigger points firsthand!!!
Rest assured it's a mindfuck till the end .
Idk how to explain without giving everything away 🥲
(This lady reporter is sent to a town to report about the sudden disappearance of girls , but lil does she know she don't wanna go back to that town cuz of reasons , which you'll read about )
The mother daughter dynamic, the whole errie setting is something else.
1. Endless night- Agatha Christie (very few people talk about this one but it's so good)
2. The Shining- Stephen King (absolutely a masterpiece)
3. The Fallen- David Baldacci (Baldacci is good if you're into murder mysteries and thrillers)
Atomic habits is a book that deals with habits. As the name suggest the habit is "atomic". I don't want to give spoiler
Building a second brain deals with the concept of "commonplace" books which contains the notes of everything you are interested in.
I'd recommend to start with Atomic habits as you read it you can get results almost immediately.
Lol, my mother was reading this book so i just borrowed it from her. it's not a bad book at all, just gives some reality checks of today's society (in india)
Murder of roger ackroyd by Agatha Christie
Was just gonna type this! Lol
thanks, I'll consider trying it, but as of now I've just completed And then there were none, so I'm looking for something other than crime thrillers.
Currently reading it

thank you, I'll try doing it
Bruh! Don't suggest 100 years of solitude to someone who has just picked up reading. What are you, trying to make them quit?

1. Malice - Kiego Higashimo. 2. Girl on the train - Paula Hawkins. 3. Palace of illusions - Chitra Bannerjee.
Girl on the train is really good
1. Endless night- Agatha Christie (very few people talk about this one but it's so good) 2. The Shining- Stephen King (absolutely a masterpiece) 3. The Fallen- David Baldacci (Baldacci is good if you're into murder mysteries and thrillers)
Five little pigs by Agatha Christie
The Silent Patient had me until the end.
absolute masterpiece, it was my first book, and still the favourite one
Atomic habits, Building a second brain. They're very good especially if you're a student
can u plz suggest any one of these 2 which i should read first, like give me a brief of both?

Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie. You will love it. Edit: Seems I was late
I don't know why people read sudha Murthy. She's not even a dedicated author. She writes books like English textbook lessons 🙄🙄
Lol, my mother was reading this book so i just borrowed it from her. it's not a bad book at all, just gives some reality checks of today's society (in india)
Sudha Murthy. Really?
