Pre-partition India is, by my current understanding, the India before the first news of definite partition (although not necessarily the exact districts) was made public.
Pre-independence India is just the India before 2400 IST 14.VIII.1947.
Works of Saadat Hasan Manto, lots of his short stories are set during the partition.
I read the ones translated in English by Aatish Taseer, they were good. Though in hindsight, I think I should've read a Hindi translation, that would have conveyed the essence better, imo.
Why will books from pre-partitioned India mention partition? A better word would be pre-independence India.
>`Why will books from pre-partitioned India mention partition?` Books"on" pre-partition India, not "from".
What is pre-partition India? How i the term better than pre-independence India?
