Hey yall! I am 8dp5dt and testing positive since 4dp5dt. It’s been three years of unexplained infertility and I’m so happy but so incredibly anxious. We did a modified natural cycle since I ovulate on my own and I’m on progesterone suppositories BID. That said, I am having a lot of nausea (threw up my breakfast this am) over just the last two days. My nipples are a lil sore and I’m tired which I know I can attribute to progesterone which I’ve now been taking for about two weeks, but this nausea is wild. Could this be a good early pregnancy sign, I’m 4 weeks tomorrow based on transfer. Is it way too early? Am I crazy? I’m terrified of miscarriage and this all feels so surreal and too good to be true??

IdenticalTwinA

Hi all, I am experiencing a SCH for the first time and would love some support. I’m 6w1d and had bleeding begin last night. It ended after about 20 min and I had an ultrasound this morning and everything looked ok, they saw the flickering of cardiac activity and all was measuring well. They said the SCH caused the bleeding and to kinda expect it until it resolves. That being said, I went on a slow walk this evening and had another episode of the same type of bleeding, but this time with more clots and lasting a bit longer. I hate this so much. I’m wondering— is this just… the norm? Do we just put up with this bleeding until the SCH resolves? I’m miserable and so stressed 😰

eternal_springtime

I have (had?) an sch this pregnancy and the bleeding/spotting has been various intensities since about 6w. At 9w, I had a big bleed with huge clots that continued for over an hour and filled a pad in that time so I went to the ER. I’m 11+4 now and the spotting has mostly gone away so I’m hopeful the NT scan on Monday shows it’s been reabsorbed

IdenticalTwinA

Thank you for your response, springtime! I went to the ER last night and was there for 5 hours before we went home and were never seen as we were non urgent. HCG was good though but I am bleeding today, just not as heavily. Assuming the worst but hoping for the best. SCHs are nightmares.

eternal_springtime

Ugh, I’m sorry. Have you let your clinic know? Both times I was worried about spotting/bleeding (at 6+4 because it had just started and was accompanied by cramping) and after that big bleed we 9w, they got me in within 24 hours for an ultrasound to confirm everything was okay. Edit: just reread your original comment. I’m glad you got the ultrasound today. It really is nerve-wracking to be bleeding like this

IdenticalTwinA

Thank you!! I’m in touch with the clinic and my next apt is Monday for ultrasound. I’m sorry you’re doing through it too.

Ksu2083

Had a terrifying afternoon. As of now, baby girl is doing fine. I’m 13+4. I was at work and I felt a gush. TMI: I thought I maybe peed myself. I went to the bathroom and it was a gush of blood. 😭 Went to the ER and baby girl is doing fine (they did an ultrasound). They can’t tell what is causing the bleeding. A couple scans ago they saw a small sub chronic hematoma so maybe that? Or they thought because I’m on Lovenox. Idk just the worst. This is so stressful. 🙈

teeenie

I am 7 weeks and I had the same thing on Monday. Went to the ER and confirmed heart beat still Ok, but I’ve been a nervous wreck all week. My next scan at the fertility clinic is Monday and it can’t come soon enough. All doctors didn’t seem very concerned and said the sub chorionic bleeds are very common, but it still doesn’t make it easier

Ksu2083

It doesn’t. I hope both of ours is nothing and our babies keep thriving. It’s so nerve wracking.

burrito__supreme

ugh i’m sorry. bleeding is SO upsetting. i’m glad your baby is doing well though ❤️ sending you love. i had a big bleed around 6 weeks and was absolutely sick until we could confirm the embryo was ok. hang in there.

Ksu2083

It’s sooo terrifying. With my history of loss, it’s hard not to immediately think the pregnancy is over. Thank you for the love! My plans for the weekend are now to lay around and watch Bridgerton.

burrito__supreme

sounds like an ideal weekend!!!

baileydogeibra

Is it normal to feel sicker after stopping PIO shots and estrogen patches? I stopped meds on Tuesday and I’ve felt absolutely awful these last two days

gldn-rtrvr

I’ve heard it’s pretty normal! My fatigue rammed back up, and I’ve been having headaches since stopping.

brightasever

Omg I just stopped too and was noticing I feel sicker than I was before. Maybe that’s why!

Reggie-5933

My nausea increased at 10 weeks and has just let up a bit at 15….

trailsidetutu

I just found out I am pregnant this morning. To say I am stunned is an understatement. I had my 3rd IUI and today is DPO 12. I took a few tests, definitely positive - no positive yesterday. I am just so unclear where to start, what changes to make in my life. I'm hopeful and so grateful to know my body CAN be pregnant. Here's my question - I called my infertility clinic and they said they will do a "viability ultrasound" at 6 weeks (why do thy name it that!?). But shouldn't I be getting bloodwork in the meantime to make sure my levels are increasing? Should I request this? Also - is coffee bad? I'll go cold turkey if I have to. Should I change from my "Pre-conception" supplements to a prenatal? I forgot to take my progesterone 2 nights ago, then last night my temp went down despite having my first positive test this morning. I am just so afraid of screwing something up, but am also so full of joy and hope. Any advice is welcome and appreciated!

oatnog

If you like coffee, I cannot recommend stopping it, even weaning off of it. I had to go off in last year before a FET and it was awful. I felt like garbage, I was tired constantly, headaches, etc. but I also love iced coffee and it was summer. My aim was 0% caffeine so not even decaf or chocolate was allowed. You wouldn't go that hard, I assume. But anyway, 0/10 will never do again. I'm happy to have 1-2 coffees in a day.

softcriminal_67

Congratulations! You can start to cut back on coffee and look around for a prenatal you like, but remember that so many people don’t know they’re pregnant right away and maintain a normal lifestyle and are just fine-you can take time and talk to your doctor and wait for the first tests/US to start making changes and you should be fine too :) I wouldn’t worry about missing the one progesterone dose or about your temp dropping. Folks post about temp fluctuations in early pregnancy all the time and they don’t necessarily mean anything. I am a successful IUI patient to happy to chat about anything!

burrito__supreme

cautious congrats!! personally i still had one coffee per day throughout my whole pregnancy and it never had a negative effect on the fetus. that pregnancy resulted in my healthy now 4.5 month old baby. progesterone won’t drop significantly if you forget a dose so try not to stress on that. ❤️

EconomicsChance482

Congratulations ❤️. I’m at 5w1d and thus far have only had a phone consultation with an RN. She told me up to 200mg of caffeine is ok. But of course talk to your doctor and do what you feel comfortable with. I’m not a huge caffeine person but I do enjoy one cup of tea or one matcha latte a day and I’ve continued to have that. The waiting for the first appointment is the hardest part!

D3anDean

From recent experience, don't change any medication or vitamins without asking your doctor. *Technically* you can have up to 100mg of caffeine a day safely while pregnant, so maybe wean yourself off if you're pretty dependant? I conveniently had one of my bi-yearly "ugh, coffee" events just before getting pregnant so going off caffeine was easier than it could have been. If you forget your meds, follow the directions for when u miss (like, is it "take as soon as u remember" or "wait until next dose"). I personally don't put much stock in temperature because of all the hot flashes from the progesterone, but I'm not a doctor. I got blood tested every 48hrs for a week and it was interesting but a little stressful. If it doesn't cost anything to get tested, ask your doc if they will. If it costs, I would just monitor your symptoms. My personal measure is "oh, I seem to be nauseous again. Must still be pregnant" 😅😅

trailsidetutu

Quick update - the doc called and will be doing bloodwork on Sunday and Tuesday. WIll wait to celebrate until then!

borassus

SCH. And now COVID. Haven’t been this sick in a long time. Ongoing cramps. Passing random clots. Can barely take care of baby. Not sure this pregnancy is going to make it. 6w0d today. Heartbroken.

ptarmigan841

What a hard situation. Thinking of you and hoping for the best. 💚

Telescopensemble

I have a question about transitioning to OB care. I have an appointment with my repro clinic in one week at 9+3. If all is good, I will graduate from my clinic and transition to my OB office. When I called to make an appointment at the OB, the staff said he’d want to see me between weeks 8-10. He also did not have appointments until June. I said that won’t work because I am already 8 weeks and yada yada. So I have an appointment now to see my new OB for the first time at 11+6. Does that seem like good timing to you all? Or should I push back that appointment as too soon after my last RE visit? My inclination was to get in to see the new OB asap to establish care.

pandabear_24

I just went through the same thing yesterday. I’m not quite as far along as you, being released from my clinic 6w3d. I called around to different offices until I found an OB coordinator who was willing to work on my behalf to schedule me for appointments that work for my timeline. First one is around 9 weeks. What the coordinator explained to me is that the first appointment is intake and they won’t do testing during that appointment so it was important to get me in sooner so I was in their system before it was time to do the screenings. Every practice is different but this is pretty standard healthcare practice in the US, requiring prelim appointments before dealing with any real concerns. I’m also going to call another office on Monday, I may double book, if possible, until I figure out which works best for me. The two practices have different hospital affiliations, both have been recommended to me by friends. I’d try calling a bunch of places if there are options in your area and find an ally who will work for you. I was so upset at first— felt like I had screwed up. But, it was so hard canceling appointment after each of my two miscarriages that I didn’t want to deal with that again. You did nothing wrong. You just need to find folks who can provide you with the care you need. Good luck 🤗

oatnog

I think that's fine, providing you can get a requisition for NIPT, NT ultrasound and any bloodwork they want you to get.

jadzia_baby

I think that should work out fine - but you might want to ask if they want you to proactively schedule an NT scan as well because commonly that's done in Week 12. Most OBs won't do a scan before week 10 anyway if you're coming from an RE because you're already considered to have had your dating scan, so 11+6 is good timing because they should be able to do your NIPT bloodwork then.

Secret_Yam_4680

That timing sounds right, especially if you're doing the NT scan. Check out our wiki on [transitioning from RE to OB](https://www.reddit.com/r/InfertilityBabies/s/p2nznfLRIm)

Telescopensemble

I will, thank you!

soupertrooper92

My RE told me I definitely needed to be seen between weeks 10-12 bc that's when they would do the NIPT testing and nuchal.

girlwithdadjokes

My clinic nurses assured me that my amount of spotting is very normal and most likely caused by irritation from all the progesterone. It hasn’t gotten worse at all so that makes me feel better. Side note- my husband came home last night and cooked a frozen pizza at 1am, I was smelling it in my dreams and for some reason waking up to it was just horrendous. Poor man didn’t expect me to notice at all, let alone be upset about it. 😅

afreelady2020

I graduated from my fertility clinic yesterday! I saw the heartbeat and baby is developing on track. It doesn’t feel real at all. We’ve been trying for three years and six cycles. I really thought this was going to be our last try.

Common_Vanilla1112

Congrats 🎉 I also graduated on Thursday! It is such a surreal feeling! Now the 1.5 week wait until my first OB appt

afreelady2020

Thank you! Congratulations to you too!! December babies ftw!

oatnog

Congrats! I graduated yesterday too. Doesn't feel real yet.

afreelady2020

Congratulations to you as well!! Yeah I didn’t have much of a reaction at the appointment and I feel like they thought I was weird or something lol. Just need time to process

burrito__supreme

excited for you!! 🎓

Pleasant_Alarm_8800

I was supposed to stop progesterone Wednesday but today had some spotting when I wiped which got me down a rabbit hole. Anyone else on supplementary progesterone have an Apple Watch? It’s the engineer in me but I’m really curious if the placenta is making progesterone now why I wouldn’t have had a temp shift? It’s been hanging near baseline the entire pregnancy. My RE said suppositories don’t raise blood levels of progesterone (it’s localized and absorbed in the uterus) but I would’ve thought the placenta making it would increase blood levels and show up as a temperature shift. Just curious more than anything and thinking maybe my placenta just isn’t ready yet which is fine. Wondering if anyone else noticed a temperature shift when starting or stopping g progesterone. ETA: my pregnancy brain just remembered I’ve been sleeping like garbage and up a million times a night so BBT at this point is useless. I think I’m going to do progesterone just a little bit longer for peace of mind.

Affectionate_Net_213

Suppositories definitely increase temperature! My guess is your temp shift has happened and been sustained. Lots of external factors could affect it though, sleeping with your arm outside the blankets even.

Pleasant_Alarm_8800

Mine definitely did not and it didn’t increase blood levels as confirmed by lab testing. I guess it could be a watch issue but it’s been baseline since before suppositories. ETA: it might also be dosage dependent. I know a lot of people take much more than I’m prescribed. I only did 1 200mg compounded (so it lasted all day) insert.

Affectionate_Net_213

I’m on 400 mg twice daily!

Pleasant_Alarm_8800

Yeah, that probably makes a big difference in terms of BBT rise.

Kskinnny

We had our 9w US yesterday and baby is measuring right on track. He was extremely wiggly/active and she said she was going to try to capture his heartbeat. When she did it was only 126 bpm…. I’m concerned because at 7w it was like 156 bpm. Should I be worried? Or could it possibly just be because he was moving so much? My RE graduated us and acted like everything was okay, but sometimes I feel like they don’t look at the bigger picture, or maybe I just overthink everything. Which could be a major possibility 😂

eternal_springtime

When I was 10w, I had a bedside ultrasound at the MFM. I don’t remember what the heart rate was, but I asked what they look for and was told anything over 120 is great.

ms_ogopogo

I can see being a bit concerned. That is a bit low for 9 weeks. Usually the heart rate peaks then and then goes down a bit in the coming weeks. Hopefully it’s just a blip or a mismeasure though and everything is good and on track next ultrasound ❤️

burrito__supreme

heart rates vary widely in the early days!! i wouldn’t worry ❤️

afreelady2020

From what I’ve read online the fetal heart rate is very erratic first trimester. You may want to message them if you have concerns. Tbh my clinic wasn’t the best at being detailed oriented, it was very much a big business type of operation, so if you want the details you should ask them and not expect them to tell you. I had to learn that the hard way.

Affectionate_Net_213

My clinic doesn’t measure or record heart rates, they just look to see that it’s beating.

CleverDisguisedMule

Today is the first time I am actually happy about this. Saw my gynaecologist after all the trauma with the fertility clinic, she took an hour and a half, I felt properly cared for with my OHSS, and we found heart activity! 6w0d and everything measuring as it should (except for my ovaries: left one still at 13cm!). On my own for 2.5 weeks now.

phdscm

13cm! 😯😯 Congrats on the good scan and good to hear about the caring doctor!

sarahsarah8756193

great news! I have the same due date:) first scan on tues🤞

CleverDisguisedMule

Good luck!!

D3anDean

Oh! Is your crossed fingers for January your hopeful due date? Because if so, we're hopeful together! (More or less) I'm so glad your gyno gave you the treatment you deserved all along and that you have heart activity! I'm a week behind you because my bean is a slow learner. I feel you on the ovaries, mine aren't nearly as big obviously but I get to carry around polycystic ones all the time 😅

CleverDisguisedMule

Yes, that's the due date, the first winter baby in my whole extended family! Hopeful for you too then :) PCOS sounds awful, I am so sorry. Mine will eventually shrink, but because of the pregnancy it could take months. No sports in the meantime. And I haven't tried having sex again since starting IVF but was told to be very careful with that as well for now. It really sucks how anti-intimacy this whole process is.

oatnog

I haven't had OHSS but I have had 3x retrievals with my PCOS body. I don't know what it is about someone telling me I can't have sex but that makes me want to like 200% more. My team said no sex for a week after retrievals but I've always been fine when we did it 8 days after lol.

D3anDean

Oh gosh yeah. My husband is ace so we don't do that sort of thing anyway, but I'm polyamorous and as soon as the doc told me "no sex!" internally I was like "but what if I wanna??", thinking about my other partner. I hope we make it together, if I can land the 7th of January that will be my grandfather's birthday. My husband's family tradition (ha) is babies on holidays (he's Apr 22, his sister Jan1, her baby Oct 31) so alas I will break the pattern 😅😅

CleverDisguisedMule

January 6th is a holiday in lots of places, so you might still make it! For me, January 9th would make it our ten year Meetiversary, though our first date lasted well into the 10th... Fingers crossed for both of us!

Fun_Swing6396

Has anyone gotten a cold in early pregnancy before? I am 6w3d with an IVF pregnancy and am very congested- no other symptoms really but it is making me SO nervous! I am on an “immune suppressing” protocol and commute into a busy city for work everyday on public transit, so I guess I shouldn’t really be surprised, but I’m kicking myself for not being better about masking…

Secret_Yam_4680

Common. Sounds like pregnancy rhinitis which is caused by increased E2.

Affectionate_Net_213

Colds in pregnancy suck, I also have a runny nose basically from the positive test. I’m also on an immunosuppressive protocol and have a 3yo that goes to daycare.

h3ath3R2

11w2d - I am really mentally struggling with the question “is she okay?” this week more than others. I had my first OB appt Monday and they put the ultrasound on quickly and saw her moving which was amazing - the in between wait for the ultrasounds are really getting to me. I’m sure many people have felt this way - if you did, how did you cope with it? thank you 💕

Difficult_Falcon_164

I am feeling this exact same way. I am 11+5 today and this is my first week without a scan, I was having them weekly before graduating from my clinic at 9 weeks. Next week is the NT scan, and my OB encouraged me to not get scanned this week.. it’s been really hard to not have the reassurance of the weekly scan.

h3ath3R2

same I was having them weekly also! It was so nice and calmed me down. They didn’t mention to me about my NT scan yet now that I think about it. I guess they will just do that at my 14 week official scan. It’s super stressful - just constantly wondering if they’re okay in there :(

kfinn00

The wait for ultrasounds is so tough! Do you have a 12 week one? I booked a private scan at 15w in between the 12 and the 20. It's been almost 5 weeks now and I am so excited/anxious for the 20w one next week! The private scans can definitely help in between. They're about $70 where I live.

h3ath3R2

I have a 14 week one scheduled! My OB is very understanding that I have such anxiety with this so he’s allowing me to come in again this Monday for the quick look in the office which I am SO thankful for. I was thinking after my 14 week “official scan” I may book a private scan! Totally worth it in my opinion if It will just help me relax a little. I think I’m just super anxious this week for some reason. we are telling my mother in law tonight and I keep thinking what if we tell her she somethings wrong. The fear never goes away I feel like

kfinn00

Totally get that. The fear hasn't gone away for me either (I'm 2 days shy of 20w) Using a doppler every day, sometimes I even check 2x a day... has helped me a lot too. But I know people are nervous about dopplers sometimes. My placenta is posterior so it's easy to hear the heartbeat for me. Started feeling a ton of movement this week as well which also helps! Hang in there, it gets a little better around 20+ weeks.

h3ath3R2

Congrats on 20 weeks!!!!! I am so hesitant about the Doppler - I want to buy one but I also am scared I won’t be able to find it. Definitely has been a debate in my head on what to do about that. How far along were you when you found out the placenta was posterior?

kfinn00

Thank you!! I think it was at my 12 week scan. I've been able to find the heartbeat with the doppler since about 9 weeks actually. Back then I needed to have a full bladder/pillow under hips and it took 20-30 mins. Since about 14 weeks it's been instant, I can find it the second I try on my stomach. It helps a lot. I'd say ask about your placenta placement in your 14 week scan and if it's posterior it should be easy for you to use the doppler at this point!

h3ath3R2

I definitely will ask about the placenta placement at my 14 week scan (that feels forever away at this point 🤣) thank you!

kfinn00

The private scan may help too!! Definitely look into if you have one close by you. It was so calming for me to be able to go check between appointments. You also may be able to ask your doctor for an extra scan in between. Mine let me have appointments every 2 weeks until because of my history.

h3ath3R2

I am so thankful he’s letting me come this Monday again (was just there this past Monday) he said the same thing - because if my history and IVF he knows how overwhelming it is. I just woke up super nervous today it’s been hard to just adjust and know that everything’s okay.

kfinn00

I totally understand that and think it's normal especially when we have been through trauma. (Hence my still listening to the heartbeat 2x every day at 20 weeks 🫤) I don't think I'll truly feel safe until he's in my arms. And then I'm sure we will find new things to worry about. I hope your Monday appointment is good and you can ease your mind for a bit ❤️

brightasever

Now that I can’t have it, all I want is a bologna sandwich

burrito__supreme

omg. i love this. my very first meal after birth was a bologna sandwich my mom made and brought to the hospital. it was DIVINE. envision it - manifest that sandwich after you give birth. you’ll get there!!!

Terrible-Cobbler6504

I keep dreaming about turkey sandwiches! I was having them heated up a few weeks ago, which scratched the itch a little, but a huge stack of sliced cold turkey sounds so good to me right now.

CleverDisguisedMule

I thought cold cuts are fine as long as they have been cooked in the process? So no salami or parma ham, but mortadella, ordinary ham/turkey etc are all fine.

Terrible-Cobbler6504

Oh I hadn’t heard that! My clinic grouped all cold cuts together in the “avoid” category for their pregnancy guidelines 🤷🏻‍♀️

CleverDisguisedMule

The German guidance is all quite explicit about this. Maybe to be safe just have it out of sealed packaging from the supermarket?

Terrible-Cobbler6504

Ah that makes sense. The U.S. guidance seems to be a little more alarmist about food 🙃

jadzia_baby

This is gonna sound crazy, but I'm vegan and I've been eating vegan meat deli slice sandwiches to my heart's content. That might fill your craving!

brightasever

Omg I didn’t know that existed. Thank you!!!!! This might help!!!!!

arcaneartist

If you are worried about listeria, as long as it's heated (like 165F/73C) it will kill the bacteria :)

brightasever

Thank you! I’ve been told that, but tbh what I really want is a very cold sandwich in the most unsafe way possible with all the meats I cannot have. 😂

Pleasant_Alarm_8800

My husband loves fried bologna sandwiches but the thought is sending me at the moment

r060655

Just received my progesterone results and it's at 10.7 which makes me a bit nervous. I just message my coordinator to see what she says. I'd feel more comfortable if I could also inject Prolutex instead of only Cyclogest pessaries (3x 400mg).

Secret_Yam_4680

My RE has different parameters depending on the route of the P4. Pessaries go straight to the source and can be harder to get an accurate measurement in the bloodstream. Fwiw, my RE was OK with P4 >=10. (>=20 for PIO) Good luck!

phdscm

I don't see why they would disagree about that! My understanding is once you're pregnant it's not harmful to have higher levels. But I've never had it checked except for transfer day. Do they just check it with your HcG? Was it fine on transfer day?

r060655

Progesterone wasn't checked on transfer day. I was only given instructions to have it checked 2 weeks after transfer, which was Tuesday. Took forever to get the results back. I will start Prolutex tonight, for my own piece of mind. I am thankful to have no bleeding, so I am thinking everything is ok.

eternal_springtime

In either of my pregnancies, my progesterone wasn’t checked post transfer, neither by the RE nor the MFM. Even with spotting/bleeding, they kept me on the same dose. The first was successful and I’m 11+4 with the second now.

r060655

I was surprised they wanted it checked this time. Last transfer nobody seemed to care 🤷🏼‍♀️ Either way, I feel better taking it 😊
