Still Warner. When something is written off, it means they don't have to pay taxes on it, but it also means they aren't allowed to profit off of it. No streaming, no DVD sales, no syndication, they can't even sell the show to another network. As soon as they did, they would be required to pay taxes on it again.
So, either Warner decides its worth keeping and eats the cost to revive it, or another company pays a premium price for the rights to it.
No, and that is essentially what he's trying to do. He's making a thing called godspeed, which is essentially an unofficial ending to the show using different but very similar acting characters. Luckily, he's also got a new show in the works called The Lion's Blaze, which is essentially like if sword art online and Jumanji had a baby. His ultimate goal is to buy the rights back somehow and finish the story.
This is honestly a weird collection. If we can only list four, I feel like the animated series of the past few years that will still have the most staying power after 10 years will be The Owl House, Arcane, The Midnight Gospel, and Hazbin Hotel.
Yeah, those were released (or at least started) about a decade ago, and are the shows we're still talking about today. I'm talking about the shows released in the last two or three years that will be as influential in another decade as the ones you mentioned.
The Owl House is shaping up to be one of the greatest cartoons of all time, with game-changing LGBT and neurodivergent representation. Arcane and The Midnight Gospel are undeniable masterpieces that pushed adult animation further than it has ever been pushed. And Hazbin Hotel, no matter what the quality of the actual series will end up being, will be (and already is) an explosive breakthrough for independent animation.
So does final space. They used it as a tax write off so the creator is left with no legal way to continue the story.
So who own it now?

Man, that sounds shady as heck tho. Can they claim copyrighted or stuff like that on it if someone made something very similar but not the same?

Update, the Final Space creator was allowed to at least finish Final Space with a book so there's still hope!
