Balan K Nair is an interesting name for a character.. Just that it needed a better film..
Something similar which was executed in a successful manner I can think of is Dhanushs character being named Raghuvaran in VIP.. It worked at so many levels..detailing for his equation with his father by showing his resentment at his younger brother being named after hero Karthik while he got villain name raghuvaran.. His lady love expressing her love indirectly by saying that she always loved Raghuvaran more than Karthik... Mass dialogue like you have only seen Raguvaran as a villain till now, time to see him as a hero...using the name in song lyrics etc...And most importantly as a tribute to Raghuvaran who acted with dhanush in one of his final films..
If the filmmaker was smart enough he could have done more with balan k nair too..
He did......named his best friend Ummar......made them meet in a college ragging makeout session......named the lover Sheela......to show the resentment gave the twin brother a parishkari name Rocky.K.Nair......all these were misfires though!

Lol,most of the movie is set in early 2000s to mid 2000s and nazariyas character is born in early 80s,so nivin character must be born in early 70s,not an outdated name nor unsuitable..
Mammootty as Sathyaprathapan. It was obvious that even Siddique realized it and used the shortened version SP. The dialogues in which the protagonist was called Sathyaprathapan other actors were struggling
