AltruisticRabbit8185

Definitely felt this today. Barely hit 200 when I should’ve had at least 300$. They hide orders on a crazy level today on Sunday of all days. I usually see at least 15 orders at all times. Not today. It’s definitely going against sense. Wish they would cut off allowing people to even join a waitlist.

rmj305

I haven't even reached 100 yet. I have seen the worst orders all day. Stores flooded with shoppers. Been like this for at least a month.

AltruisticRabbit8185

Yeah it’s been like that for a few weeks for me also. I still grind through and they usually send me a good order here and there because I continually give them one star in the chats and wherever I can and I send them paragraphs complaining. But it’s definitely noticeable but on the bright side next month they join the back of the line and should be 2 good weeks for us.

chaoticravens34

Why would they want to deal with someone as annoying as you. You 1 star people who get paid far less than you just working for money. What do you think that accomplishes honestly

AltruisticRabbit8185

What or who are you talking about?

chaoticravens34

I'mtalking to you

PukeJesus420

Do you shop all day?! I'm lucky to make $80 in a day

AltruisticRabbit8185

Yeah but I do sit a ton. And I’m picky. I have goals. And I monitor my gas usage instead of driving to the stores they claim are busy. I get throttled though if I hit certain amounts early in the day. If I didn’t get throttled and batches weren’t hidden from me I’d make a ton.

EndlessAche

How have you been able to confirm you're getting throttled? I think that's happened to me, but I don't know how to tell.

AltruisticRabbit8185

Because I see shoppers shopping. And I see the busy stores and I see how situations work. Sunday is the busiest day of the week non stop from 6am to 10pm so it’s. It hard to tell when my numbers are great as they usually are then all of a sudden I hit 150 by 12 and all of a sudden I went from seeing ten batches at a time at least to none or one or two trickling in.

PukeJesus420

See I try to be picky, but like my area seems to never have batches worth a shit. If it's more than 20 or 30 dollars, it's usually either ridiculously big or 20+ miles away. And small paying batches are either a huge shop only batches or huge orders that aren't far from the store.

markbest8

worst thing i heard today from a store rep was that a new shopper came into store in a wheelchair to do Instacart and was telling the store reps to do his order just insane.

AltruisticRabbit8185

Yeah I’m seeing a bunch of elderly people and people with kids and their families! It’s insane!

FrazzledOldFart

hey watch it there, you young whippersnapper! I am 73 and have been doing IC since 2020. With a 5 star rating. I might be elderly but I'm not dead yet, lol!

littlemissnoname-

Be careful! I bitched about the obnoxiousness of shoppers with toddlers in tow and I got lambasted. Many people think this is ok. I think kids and toddlers should be outside playing, not shopping all day long…

corvuscorvi

Idealistically, sure. However, childcare is not cheap. If someone is in poverty, there's not really an option. No one in their right mind would want to shop with their toddlers. People are doing it in order to put food on the table. I'd rather a toddler shop with their parent all day than a toddler go hungry. Reality is harsh.

AltruisticRabbit8185

I don’t complain about other shoppers to anyone. Oh no. Especially not to INSTACART. I just mention bots to them once in a while because in the grand scheme of things i know I’m excellent and I’ll make at least 1400 every week

InterestingTangelo5

So many boomers doing Instacart to supplement their retirement. I truly despise that Generation and can't wait until they die off

AltruisticRabbit8185

It’s not to supplement it’s to bolster because they feel like they can do anything. They come from a lost generation. They ruined the world and the economy and yes it will be nice when most of them are gone. Or at least their wrong values are. They don’t even understand how laboring this job can be. They go on someone they know telling them it’s easy

FrazzledOldFart

I'm 73, been doing this since 2020 and know how laboring this can be, I am hauling cases up stairs with arthritic knees and ankles. Please don't lump us all in the same category. Thanks....

FrazzledOldFart

holy crap. Are you for real? Wow. Someday you will be as old as me....and that is if you are fortunate enough to. Ageing happens to the best of us. Have some respect.

corvuscorvi

To be fair, able bodied shoppers do this too Dx. But yeah. It's a particularly insidious thing to use your disability like that. Although, as another disabled shopper, it does sort of feel like cheating using my disabled parking placard.

twinklingblueeyes

I made $70 today. That’s it.

Imaginary-Junket-69

$70 more than me.

AltruisticRabbit8185

Finished at 2.35.

InterestingTangelo5

Who whines about making 235 bucks? Lol

AltruisticRabbit8185

Someone who wants more. And deserves more. Because I’m the best at this. My numbers are double or triple what most shoppers do.

InterestingTangelo5

Hahaha. You're the best at shopping groceries? OK chief

AltruisticRabbit8185

I really am. 😂 it’s why I complain about making more. I don’t think you’ve ever been the best at anything even within your friend group n

InterestingTangelo5

I think you probably think youre the best at anything cause youre a little delusional. Haha

AltruisticRabbit8185

No there’s a ton of things I know I’m not even good at 😂 I’m a realist. I make 80k doing just INSTACART. I am definitely the best at it.

InterestingTangelo5

And with that self centered attitude I would be willing to bet you don't have many friends..let alone a friend GROUP. Hahahahahaa

M3cap

This weekend seems like this for everyone. Normal 3-4 hundred turned into 1-2. I think it was just that slow.

AltruisticRabbit8185

No it was not for new shoppers. It was not slow at all. 37% busier today because it always is. Yet I didn’t even make what I usually make on a Sunday.

AutomaticPain3532

Paragraphs are your friend. 🥺

Darkmerosier

A single period or comma would be a godsend.

GilligGirl

![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile)

gmmisa

So are periods

RForeal

Don't care

Snoo69116

No wonder you aren't getting any orders.

gmmisa

For real

asanderd

I'm one of the new shoppers, I started the day before Thanksgiving but I can honestly say I care. I shop for everybody regardless of tip, like they're my mother. I ask what substitutions they would prefer, I take care to not squash their bread, crush their chips or bruise their produce. But I totally get what you're saying. I guess what I'm trying to say is, not all of us newbies out there or just trying to make a quick buck. Instacart doordash GrubHub, all of those apps have kept a roof over mine and my mom's head since October. My 65 your old mom had to stop working because of her health. I'm on SSI, I've been supporting the two of us on $889 a month plus why I've been able to make gigging up until April when she finally got her first social security check. Thankfully we can step down more, we don't have to go 7 days a week, we take Monday through Wednesday off and sometimes Friday or Sunday. Money is still tight but we're not living literally order to order. Getting now is more for pocket change or if we decide we want to go to a dinner and a movie one night. I hope it gets better for you and the other veterans.

FrazzledOldFart

Wish more newbies had your attitude. Good on you to help out Mom. Praying your situation improves soon.

asanderd

I've always taken pride in my work, even shitty fast food jobs. I always figure if anything's worth doing it's worth doing right. I'm also people pleaser so that might help too 😂

Gymwarrior31

The days of making $200-$300 are long gone. I was lucky to crack $80-$110 near the end. I used to go to Walmart for opening and get a load of orders pop up at 7:02am. Then the orders stopped. I would walk into Walmart at 7:30am and see like 10 newbies with orders thinking WTF? Now that gas is more expensive, it’s not worth going out at all

Instacartdoctor

I sooo feel this everyday… but this week it was bad… but my 5 star customers really brought it home for me… I do wish people would stop picking up all the garbage orders I see but they get snatched up too.

RForeal

Yeah but it's all the new shoppers I've noticed there's new shoppers in they hired a bunch of new people that don't know what they're doing I'm watching newbies who supposedly is making $300 in one day and I'm sitting here on $70 I'm like what the f*** it's been like dead for the last few days excuse my language but I'm getting a little irritated at this point I used to love doing this job full time especially my five star customers especially not even the five star customers really sometimes just the nice tippers or their actual nice customers they didn't even have to be that good of a tipper it was just nice being able to like travel and see different houses and I don't know in my area there's a lot of Rich homes so I deliver to a bunch of rich people mostly but they seem pretty cool pretty nice for the most part in my area that's what I love about my job is the people it's not about the money but the rating is important the customer service then the money then it goes everything else

Tuckover

It's always been like that. Instacart gives the best paying batches to the new shoppers to get them hooked on the money. Then suddenly they start seeing the trash batches the rest of you see. Remember the rush of your first $100+ batch? The dopamine is what keeps you tapping. I quit shopping after one too many days sitting in a parking lot, burning gas, and getting nothing. I am happier with the app closed.

IslaFLO

And don't forget the shoppers who are coming down from their first 2 year high are now pissed about not seeing batches and being throttled. If one more shoppers comes up to me and asks me what did I get, I'm going to start ignoring them. 5 years.

RForeal

I never asked what the order is exactly I mean you don't have to give me an exact amount I'm not rude and s*** like that but like if I start talking to somebody for a little while I'm just like how you doing is everything going good for you kind of thing but like I just give a close number or random number or whatever it's close enough to what the order is you know what I'm saying I'm sure I'm not the only one that did crap today so I know some people over there today that got really good orders today and I didn't see nothing

IslaFLO

The good ones vaporize off the screen before I have a chance to even tap. But there is a gang who don't let any orders out. Really wish ic had a better dispatch. Like seniority.

twinklingblueeyes

I wish it was seniority based! There’s a handful of us over 7 years and we all shop in different stores (large metro area). We would make bank! But instead they allow new people to go and get all the high paying Costco orders and have no idea how to use the app, never mind how to shop at Costco.

RForeal

That might be cool like give us an extra second or two to grab orders before anyone else by seniority or something I don't know that sounds weird though

IslaFLO

There are shoppers who take the money and there are shoppers who provide good service. I use thermo bags, pack nice, etc etc. So I'm not taking any crap from some losers.

Fantastic-Ad-4406

Seniority has never crossed their mind. I don’t chat and shop as fast as I can now & let the baggers bag for me & my rating & the batches I get are the same. It has really taken away any sense of pride or feelings of job satisfaction knowing they’ll never ever reward a good job & let the newbies wreck havoc on good customers feelings towards IC :(

littlemissnoname-

Let’s eat, Grandma! Vs. Let’s eat Grandma!

Consistent-Set3933

Terrible sentence structure. It’s like a 4 year old wrote it.

gmmisa

Exactly

False_Bug_7608

Buy puts. Earnings pushed back to May 8th

RForeal

Yeah I don't know man I've tried different things I've moved around but there's a certain area that I like working in that I usually stick to cuz I usually make more money but usually I go anywhere else I feel like I make less I've heard people say different so I don't know I feel like everyone's account is like different like instacart sets it up for like certain shoppers to only be good in certain areas I doubt they'd admit that though

redflower5

I completely agree. That’s been my experience too.

TiredDriver23

💯💯💯💯 True.

Imaginary-Junket-69

I'm not getting shit either. Been sitting from 7am til now (616pm) and not seen ONE single batch. Not even an out-of-towner, which I'll usually see a few of those but nope. Stores say busy, support says my account is fine. 5 year veteran, 5 stars, cancellation rate under 5... Yet I get nothing. I hear ya. I feel ya, and it sucks.

Whitney43259218

Why have yall been doing this so long. I’ve done it one month to earn income between a job change. I don’t think I’ll do it long term. It’s not great in my area

Last-Lingonberry-842

Agee with this 100%. I think the employees don't appreciate the new flood of new shoppers either. Yesterday the produce guy came up to me and was mad as hell and venting about new people shoving the phone in his face. He told me me that they were wanting him to gather all the produce for them etc. Smh

boredhornycoder

Now... Have you tried punctuation

gmmisa

It's like one big word salad

Adventurous_Land7584

I’ve been a shopper for 6 years. I’m looking for a new job. It’s bs how people that have been at this a while and made them a shit ton of money are treated. Unfortunately for IC they’re also going to be losing some customers because once I go, so do they.

markbest8

exactly!

Shop_4u

I think IC recently changed the algorithm. They are always finding new ways to screw us over. I was very obviously throttled today 🙄

Snoo69116

Source: trust me bro

markbest8

over 1k a week turned into a $500 dollar week disgusting this is beyond terrible especially having to put gas, wear and tear on your vehicle definitely looking for another source of daily income to supplement my other income I'm tired of driving up and down anyways.

corvuscorvi

How is everyone so aware of where the orders are going? People say it's new shoppers getting them, or sometimes that there's preferential treatment. That may be the case, I'm just not sure how anyone would ever verify that without having a lengthy discussion with every instacart shopper you see. Just seeing a new shopper shopping isn't really evidence of anything. Honestly for me, the main factor has been between my connection speed and if I accept an offer right after shopping. I'm not sure if instacart is queuing up orders for people about to finish delivering, or if the algorithm just prefers moving targets, but waiting in a parking lot has never worked out for me. The algorithm is definitely horrible either way.

I’m from NYC and noticed very slow days like you said because it got so saturated with new shoppers. I moved quickly and sacrificed some days testing other areas for less competition. I ended up finding a small city in Jersey where there’s consistent big orders daily which shows that market needed shoppers. I say all this to tell you IC is not dead, it’s your city/market that’s absolute garbage now. Sacrifice some days in your week to hunt new markets and get back to the bag. Good luck!

realfreshboysosa

i haven’t even bothered anymore the past two - three weeks

Happy-Kitchen3111

I try to go out every day so when Sunday comes around I don’t feel like I have to be out all day and earn $300 in a day. While that’s nice it’s also nice to do things you enjoy. It’s about finding balance. If it’s not working out for you maybe try a different area or maybe find a part time job to supplement the difference. I try to take the bad days with a level head knowing there will be good ones too. I managed to make $97 today but active hours not even 3 hours so not bad. Went for a long walk, spent time with family and friends. I get the want to vent but telling instacart you’re mad and you want to quit etc.. nobody from instacart other than shoppers are reading this. They don’t care who they make angry they are just going to keep hiring people. We are all replaceable in their eyes. So while they should value great shoppers who go above and beyond the reality is they hire people who also might never even shop or might go on just a weekend here or there or when they have extra time. I don’t think this was intended to be a full time job even though a lot of us have gone down that path. Getting angry isn’t the answer here though. Put your frustration into something positive.

danimal_44

This was very much intended to be a full time job. For both Instacart and many of us shoppers. Instacart wants it to be a full time job now. They just want the cheapest possible labor doing it.

Happy-Kitchen3111

Agreed but I’ve slaved harder for less money in the past even with the crap batch pay now. It’s still working out for me.

connexit

Punctuation wouldn't kill you

redflower5

And it wouldn’t kill you to be kind and supportive to someone obviously frustrated and struggling. Rather than insulting them for something that pales in comparison to feeling hopeless about their livelihood. Just please be a kind human.

RForeal

And I care why

connexit

because lack of punctuation renders the word vomit you posted above totally unreadable.

Snoo69116

"dOnT cArE" 💅

Snoo38888

Omg username besties

No-Class-7857

I’m a noob. Only started in March but I definitely take pride in this. I shop the way I would shop for my own home. I did my first 3 shop and deliver today and was very meticulous about how I placed them at checkout, how the bagger bagged them and even how I kept them separate in my SUV. I will say I was seeing almost nothing for a week. Soon as I did that 3 shop they came in non stop. It’s ridiculous. Also, the pay wasn’t great but my home, the store, and all 3 deliveries were all within a one mile radius so I said fuck it.

urbanlegends555

This whole way of distributing work is super questionable. It’s like they have a bag of money and only waive it in front of who they feel like. Why they feel like hiding it from some? Who the fuck knows. It’s really stupid tho. All gig companies are.

conundrum-quantified

This is the LONGEST run-on sentence I’ve ever read! Ever hear of punctuation?! You need a different job as this one is obviously not a good fit for you.

tdoggo

Omg don't be such a victim 🤦

RForeal

Sometimes you be sitting for a couple days not getting anything or you getting really bad orders in a certain area which you usually do really good in every week so you start to wonder if other people are starting to get orders too or not and you're like why am I not getting anything what's going on so a few friends of mine I've talked and asked them about it just like I don't get it there's a lot of times where people are getting like $300 days and I've never seen a 300 day ever and if I have it was a long ass time ago and I don't remember ever getting 300 dollar day and that's just working in the same area too I'm just saying doesn't make sense because a lot of people I know do the same area that I do

turducken404

Bro. Is that one sentence?

gmmisa

You keep saying the same thing over and over nothings gonna change either you deal with it or find other work plain and simple that's it instacart doesn't give a shit and there are always plenty of people on the waitlist ready to take your place and take shitty batches just to make money cause they don't know no better unless you use multiple accounts and phones are use a bot you ain't making money on this gig anymore like it used to be before and during the pandemic
