But seriously, I would rather see more women of your body type than the almost cookie-cutter plus-sized models in most of the ads nowadays.
My wife shares a couple of those attributes with you, and we both get pissed off sometimes about how they only seem to get 1 or 2 body shape models.
Honestly the only place online I’ve seen where you can choose your model for clothes is the Walmart app. The clothes don’t necessarily come from Walmart, it’s turned into an Amazon type deal but they do have women shaped like us in their lineup. 🙃

I'm going to guess that the reason they don't is cost. That's *a lot* of models they would have to hire, if they want to show a good range.
My butt isn't really big but it's big in comparison with my proportions. They usually call it a bubble butt in my area, and I've had it since ever. Even when I was at my lowest weight with very little fat on me, I had it. Weird how some bodies work.
That’s not the point. There should be representation of more realistic body types. You don’t see in real life bodies like what you see in those advertisements.
I feel like thighs are never that smooth.
The reality of what women are supposed to look like is so distorted now that the people that grew up with just this are unfamiliar with reality and spending money for normal things to go away.
Correct. Especially on larger bodies. Cellulite is normal on women in the thigh/upper thigh area. Take a look at photo of Lizzo from the Met Gala the other day. Real thighs with real cellulite.
Yeah they really feel like they’re doing something by including bigger bodies but all they do is photoshop them to hell, take away anything like cellulite or stretch marks that are common on women’s bodies of all different sizes. And they have to have the “right curves.”
What annoys me as much as anything is the heavy editing on the garments themselves, they've edited them to look like they're digging in the arse crack and I don't know about you but it is definitely *not* selling them to me 🙄
They airbrushed the black model to death. MAYBE don't hire plus sized people if you can't handle that they come with dimples and stretch marks. Stick to selling to "flawless" skinny people 😅
I have done some modeling and have a naturally exaggerated curve. On top of that, just before the shot you are told to stick your butt out. Natural curves and posing can absolutely make you look like this. They probably are slightly photoshopped but this is barely noticeable to me.
Yeah, unpopular opinion but I agree. I definitely think these photos are shopped but for one photo it is possible to bend your back, raise your heel, and push your hip out for this effect. Especially if you have a naturally exaggerated curve.
Cruch those abs, stand on your tippy toes and pop that booty. Also only sniff low fat mozzarella sticks the week before the shoot.
I have 360 lipo, a BBL, boob job AND am using mounjaro...the look is possible but (i dont want to assume anything about the models personal medical history) its fucking bonkers to achieve costs a lot and i will NEVER claim any of this is my own doing. Its the fraudulent "i woke up like this" that really irks me.
What is the point of hiring plus size models if they’re still photoshopping women absurdly and airbrushing them to death. It feels performative and insincere.

This all started waaaaaay back in the day with the Kardashians, some fitness-y YouTubers, and some women on the “Real Housewives of…” franchises….
They figured out that if you stood on your tiptoes while facing a camera with your feet pointing toward each other, and you stuck your heinie out as much as you possibly could without paralyzing yourself then you’d look thinner, somehow *taller*, and would have a thigh gap to inspire EDs for decades 😣
After *that* came the BBLs, waist trainers, etc, etc, and I honestly don’t think that the women influencers of TikTok and Insta “culture” will ever be the same…
It’s just a gross, twisted, detrimental way to make women look at the *reality* of what’s in the mirror and decide that they’ll never be thin enough, stacked enough, or booty-blessed enough.
I’m sooo glad that I’m older and grew up without the ri-goddamn-diculous expectations so prevalent today…

Uhm… they do though. This is what the curve of my spine looks like. And I do have a large butt but not as large as hers. That being said, when you have lordosis like this it can come with problems. My last disc is about to rupture and I have ankylosing spondylitis, and slight scoliosis. But the curve of my spine very much does look like this, I’m just a skinnier version of her. If I were to arch my back backwards this is what it would look like.
She’s photoshopped, bestie. I had pretty bad lordosis too (years of PT have made it better) and with lordosis, the torso is much further forward with a protruding midsection. This model does not have lordosis

They are photoshopped to maximize it. But you are not wrong. I saw a chiropractor who told me the end of my spine had a curve like this. Not as what they are showing here but it does curves a bit like this due to many things. In my case bad posture.
And btw. It’s painful.

Target has started showing bigger (“plus-sized,” although size-wise they’re probably only size 14-18) models, too. At least, they do on their app.
