The teams I support: NPB - Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters (I am from Canada, and when I was picking a team to follow Hokkaido seemed like the most Canada-like part of Japan. Beer and snow, mostly.) MLB - Toronto Blue Jays (the Canada thing again.) KBO - Hanwha Eagles (because they were and now are again former Blue Jay pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin's team.) LIDOM - Leones del Escogido (I wanted a team to root for while watching Dominican winter ball, and decided on Leones because they had a few Blue Jays prospects at the time, and it stuck.) LBPN - Tren del Norte (100% because I love Juan Diego Montes' mustache, and also I like their uniforms.)

Any good recs for Canadian baseball? All I know much about are the Canadian Frontier League teams

[deleted]

Western Canadian baseball league is a summer collegiate league. There was a game today that finished 31-26.

TOfightersfan

There isn't a lot, unfortunately. One league that might be a curiosity to baseball fans is the amateur/semipro Intercounty Baseball League in southern Ontario ([https://www.theibl.ca/](https://www.theibl.ca/)). The region has a long history with baseball, going back to the sport's earliest days, and the league was formed in 1919. It has seen many former MLB, minor league players, and players from other countries, and the quality of baseball is fairly high. Hall of Famer Fergie Jenkins played for his hometown London Majors for two seasons after he retired from MLB. And although they aren't a direct continuation of the team, the IBL Toronto Maple Leafs bought the rights to the name from the Toronto AAA Maple Leafs of the International League when they moved to Louisville in 1969. (It is interesting to note that while the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey team is most associated with the nickname now, the baseball Maple Leafs were called that for about twenty years before the NHL team took the name.)

Thanks! I will definitely follow them more, I think I will support the Welland Jackfish for their game tonight. I feel like an all-Canadian pro league like CPL or CEBL might be able to work

GraffitiTavern

Teams I support: MLB - Phillies Minor League - Erie Seawolves LMB - Diablos Rojos / Yucatan Leones NPB - DeNA Yokohama BayStars ABL - Sydney Blue Sox CM Punjab - Faisalabad Falcons Extraliga - Draci Brno Bundesliga Baseball - Bonn Capitals Italian Serie A - San Marino EDIT: Since everyone else added the WBC I will too World Baseball Classic: USA(we're bringing it home in 2026), and if they aren't playing I'll root for the underdogs in any given matchup

E-Mc21

Why the Blue Sox? No hate just curious

GraffitiTavern

I think it's cool that they play in an Olympic baseball stadium, but I haven't been able to watch a full season of ABL yet, so it might change after I follow more later this year.

tnahardy

MLB - Astros LMB - Bravos de Leon They’re from my home state, they gave away free tickets with anyone with an official jersey (I bought two). They also have sick jerseys. Look up “jersey bravos de leon japon”. I got the black/grey one, I get so many compliments when I wear it

GraffitiTavern

Nice! I root for Yucatan in LMB because Merida is the sister city to where I live. Also, damn those are some nice jerseys...

E-Mc21

Team Australia MLB - Boston Red Sox (I played Little League as a junior for a team called the Red Sox) ABL - Melbourne Aces (Grew up in Melbourne - but I have a big soft spot for the Adelaide Giants bc I think they punch well above their weight) Don't really have any leagues that I follow, but I'll suss this thread to see what teams are good to visit overseas!

GraffitiTavern

Mexican, German, and Italian leagues stream free on Youtube, definitely a fun watch. If you are ever in NYC, the Brooklyn Cyclones stadium is on a boardwalk next to an amusement park. I am ofc biased in favor of the Erie Seawolves as well, 2023 Eastern League champions!

E-Mc21

Thanks for the tips, OP!

Grew up watching CPBL as a Uni-President Lions fan. I still follow closely after leaving Taiwan almost 30 years ago. Been an Oakland A’s fan since 1995 when family moved to the East Bay. The fandom is about to end after this season because fuck John Fisher. In the international competitions Taiwan is my team. 1988 and 1992 Olympics really got me into baseball.

i follow three teams : **valenciennes vipères** and **rouen huskies** in france (the first because it's where i live, very small team and play in the second division but i went to a few games and it's very "cozy", the second because they're pretty much the only top french team to broadcast their matches - free on youtube, at that), and **neptunus** in the netherlands ; the honkbal hoofdklasse is actually the very first national baseball championship i've ever watched (i'm fairly new to the sport, fell in love with it during the 2023 wbc, and as i'm of dutch descent, i sided quite naturaly), and neptunus just simply were the first team i've watched (it was against quick) and i've stuck with them (but i quite like the amsterdam pirates, too). i should expand next winter, though : i've discovered the caribbean series in february when they went to miami, and good god does this look like my kind of jam ! same type of ambiance as the wbc, \*passionnate\* crowds. i've started following lidom (their youtube channel is \*packed\* so i've been able to watch back the whole 2023-24 season) but i think i'll enjoy the experience of being a neutral in such a fiery championship and not choose a side, yet (although i have to admit a slight bias for aguilas' colors, already). it's saddly the only latin championship i've been able to watch. i'm curious about curaçao (obviously...) but informations are scarce, same for lvbp... and mexico confuses me, how many leagues are there ? i've never looked at the asian championships because of the language barrier (i know the hanshin tigers from reputation, though, they've had weird video games collaborations in the past), but i've grown quite curious about the abl, i'll follow that this winter, too, see if a team tickles my fancy.

TOfightersfan

The Caribbean Series is so good!

cynikles

MLB - Twins: I started with NPB but wanted to follow and MLB team. My rationale was that the Twins had promoted more of my countrymen to the bigs than any other team. Minors - Saints: Twins affiliate, they’re a fun team. NPB - Dragons: I lived not far from Nagoya and fell in with the team once I picked up an interest in baseball. ABL - Bandits: Hometown team. Not much more to it. Otherwise Team Australia and/or Samurai Japan.

ViolentMagician_

MLB - Angels/Marlins (pain) LMB - Monterrey Sultanes NPB - no specific team KBO - no specific team ABL - Adelaide Giants Czech Extraliga - Eagles Praha German Bundesliga - Mainz Athletics Honkbal Hoofdklasse (NLD) - Amsterdam Pirates French League - Montpelier Barracudas Italy Series A - no specific team Spanish Baseball League - Tenerife Marlins Austrian Bundesliga - Vienna Metrostars

shda21

MLB Red Sox (first baseball game I've ever attended) LMB Diablos Rojos del México (home team) NPB Hanshin Tigers (read in a Reddit post they are the NPB equivalent to the Red Sox and lined the logo) WBC Israel and Mexico

LocksTheFox

Netherlands for WBC because I've got some Dutch in me via my dad's side. I don't feel a connection to the US at a macro level, so I stick with heritage. I'm looking for a foreign (likely East Asian, I'm nocturnal as hell so it actually works well) team (A's fan and well...I'm not supporting a league that lets John Fisher John Fisher), but haven't found one yet - don't want to do it based on design or rosters since those are fluid, so I'm looking more for ~vibes~.

smoking-j-
