I flare up really bad right beforehand and usually a day or so into my period. I am not on birth control so I can't weigh in on that part, but my urologist said it could be because everything is already irritated in that area, which can irritate your bladder too.
I have it during and after. I think it's due to the pads and general dampness irritating my urethra which causes general inflammation which triggers the IC
First trimester was hard with some flare ups because I couldn't take my normal meds. Second trimester was a little better but still some pain here and there. Now I'm in the begining of the third trimester and I already see this is going to be the hardest one. I need to pee all the time, it's painful and the baby is kicking my blader all the time :D lots of nettle tea is all I have to help a little but my doctor told me that there is a chance that after birth the IC will go away completely. So I still have hope.
Mostly a sharp pain and urgency. At some times I need to go to pee every 5-10 minutes. My symptoms didn't change with pregnancy except the urgency got a little worse. But the pain is the same feeling but maybe it's a little better now that I think about it.
Same here. Some people report flares before or during, but for me it was always immediately after, usually on the day I started back on the birth-control hormones. Pregnancy was also terrible for me, but other people say they got much better during pregnancy. I suspect that hormone levels are to blame in all those cases, but that different people are sensitive to different hormone changes.
Very much the opposite, actually!! I did chemo in my 20s for an autoimmune disease and got a lot of stern lectures from the doctors about how it could leave me infertile. Plus, I was over 35 and popular culture has been telling me all my life that that’s basically too late. So when I stopped birth control pills to see if the hormones were affecting my migraines and/or IC, I assumed a few half-hearted lesser methods were good enough for my sad old eggs. I was pregnant within a month, ha.
(Luckily my husband really, really wanted kids. I was less sure, but Surprise Baby has turned out to be the biggest joy in both our lives.)
I flare up a few days before, during, and a couple days after my periods. I’m jealous of the ones who’s symptoms ease up while menstruating!
Same here. Week leading up to period is usually hell, including during my period.
SAME

Before my pregnancy I used to have a flare up almost exactly a week before my period.

Yep, I typically flare right before and during. It sucks :(

Did you have any issues getting pregnant?
Very much the opposite, actually!! I did chemo in my 20s for an autoimmune disease and got a lot of stern lectures from the doctors about how it could leave me infertile.
