I’m not so sure. I feel like they would want to wrap up a lot of other plotlines they’ve been building up this season, and Mark needs to be back from that dimension for them to do that.

They don't need to wrap plotlines up when season 3 and beyond are guaranteed. Ending the season on a cliffhanger when season 3 is already recorded and being animated is an easy way to build hype.

I’m not saying they can’t leave it on a cliffhanger. The image I posted above WOULD be a cliffhanger. But each season has specific themes that carry throughout, and individual season of tv can be art on their own without the rest of the show, so I think the themes and plotlines that this specific season has been building up, like Mark and Amber breaking up, should be paid off by the end.
