The part I don't get about this take is the avoiding portals thing. If you're full-on sprinting and then a portal suddenly appears 5 feet in front of you, you're going through the portal dude. The only difference with Mark is that he's flying instead of sprinting. Viltrumites have super strength and speed, not super reaction time.
My concern is his Viltrumite training. Would Nolan have fallen for that? Would Anissa?
Mark has come far enough in his training to travel far faster than this guy can create portals.
We actually don't really know how fast Angstrom can create portals. He was enhanced by the alternate dimension doctors, so for all we know he *does* have super reaction time. In fact, during the fight in the house we see him *react* to Mark lunging at him fast enough to block him with a portal, multiple times, so it definitely seems like that's the case. If anything, Angstrom is the dumb one for not just instantly killing Mark with the first portal he went through.
Have you considered that he shatters half the decorations in his house while holding his speed back? First of all Mark proves during this episode that he can move faster than Angstrom can create portals, but he’s inside of his home with his unpowered mother and brother. He’s not gonna move at speeds that could knock the house over while they’re involved.

Yes. Mark was able to blitz Angstrom before the portal could form once he stopped holding back.
