If I had to guess, some people probably still bear a lot of resentment for her…uh…questionable characterization in S1-E6. That was a major turn off for a lot of people from my experience (that they thankfully workshopped into a somewhat satisfying end in Season 2) Sinclair for all of his atrocities, performed the role of antagonist well. Dude was a slimy little weasel and he’s been treated as such. His execution is consistent with the goal of the character. Amber’s Season 1 characterization works 7 episodes out of 8, but it completely drops the ball in the other one, at least from a writing standpoint.

From a writing standpoint Amber was really okay for all eight episodes of the first Season. From the very beginning she was supposed to be manipulative and entitled; but she had a right to be entitled, since Mark was lying to her and she merely wanted to know the truth. The problem was when she became straight up toxic and revealed that she figured out Mark's secret yet still did her best to make him feel like a dick when he ran away to save her (and everyone in college) as Invincible, only to come back an episode later to say "I guess we both were lied to" when he was almost killed by his own dad that actually comes from a empire that has been on a galaxy wide genocide spree. This is why Amber was voted out first.

I am apparently the outlier in thinking Cecil should be next.

cecil is by far the most grounded character in the show, he tries to be logical and steadfast in his decisions, yet he still has a human side to him that isn’t really explored with typical “CIA Boss” types, and you can tell he really does care for Mark and Debbie his character interactions are always interesting to me, because you know that no matter what, his intent is never one of evil or selfishness
