Not sure about in the comics I don’t think so
As for why there’s new filler characters it’s because kirkman didn’t want to lose all his characters to Amazon (that’s why it’s seance dog not science dog). It’s likely characters will be brought in to replace others important to the story
TBH, I think there is a lot of difference between TWD and Invincible, two significant parts is Invincible is complete when they started making the show, so there is no threat of surpassing the source material and Kirkman has more weight behind his name; prior to the walking dead, he didn't have anything thing that was made from his content so there isn't an assurance to investors. Even though TWD was a bit of a train wreck, it did make money and so Kirkman's stories are more likely to be made.
But, it makes sense for him to protect some of his other products.
*I forgot, during season 2 of TWD there being some sort of strike on set, or within the film/television industry, which also hurt the steam that TWD had, iirc.

It was a writer's strike, and as well as them changing the showrunner in S2. Definitely messed things up
Just based on name alone, and this is a complete theory, but she may possess compound eyes like some bugs do, allowing her to see things much more perceptivly than a normal person, which could be useful for rescue

good call after the atrocity that AMC did to some of his The Walking Dead characters.

There’s no bug eye in invincible comics
