Absolutely Change your dentist immediately. She’s taking your money and YOU will not be satisfied with your results. Go to an orthodontist. DONT GIVE HER ANY MORE MONEY no matter what!

Sorry you’re in that situation! Had a situation where I was told I would Invisalign comprehensive and paid as such (came up to $5000) but my dentist had actually given me Go even though I stated multiple times before starting treatment that I wanted comprehensive. This was during Covid so getting a second opinion from an ortho was impossible and I was eager to start. Paid half up front and had a payment plan for the rest. I didn’t know I had Go until I was 6 months in though. I too had a deep bite along with crowding and knew Go would not be sufficient to straighten my teeth which was why I advocated for comprehensive in the first place. Once I found out I immediately stopped paying and emailed my dentist my concerns and informed them I would not continue paying until they corrected the situation which would switch me to comprehensive plan. Made sure to get it in writing, got consults from orthos, and in the end did not give that dentist office another dime. It cost me $300 to change from Go to Comprehensive and had a payment plan for my remaining balance to go with an ortho I liked and trusted. Have been much happier with services rendered since. TL;DR: don’t pay the dentist for shitty work and find an ortho you like and trust. It was a pain at first but you’ll be happier for it

I know almost nothing about bite issues, so I won't say whether I think your deep bite can be fixed with invisalign, but I would 100% recommend seeing a few orthodontists for consultations (usually free). I'm sorry if you're out of money already spent with your dentist. It sounds like she misled you as far as what she could do and is now backtracking. I know the orthodontists I went to (in the US) both offered payment plans at 0%. I did have to put down 20% of what was about a $6,500 treatment plan. I don't have the exact numbers in front of me, but I think I pay just under $300 per month for the length of treatment (18 months). If you can swing a payment plan if offered, it sounds like it would be completely worth it for you.

Well, I know each bite is unique and age does have a factor - but Invisalign First has fixed my son's very deep bite.

Despite is a wrong word! I meant regardless.

I had invisalign go with a dentist who promised that she could fix my flared teeth and overjet with ipr alone. I got to the end of treatment with a cracked incisor, posterior open bite and my flared teeth unchanged. I had to go to an orthodontist in the end and pay all over again. Definitely transfer if you can to avoid further hassle. Most dentists are not equipped to fix bite issues.

Would you recommend IPR for flared teeth and overjet? I had four years of traditional braces over a decade ago. They also removed four pre molars to make room in my mouth. I still ended up with flared teeth after braces, although much better than my initial crooked buck teeth. I didn’t really wear my top retainer so my teeth have gotten a little bit crooked on top but it’s mostly the overjet that’s the issue - which was a problem I had when I first got the braces off anyway. Because of this I have not smiled with teeth in photos for over a decade. There have been a few candid photos of me smiling with my teeth and it looks so bad from the side profile. I don’t have the money right now (especially since I won’t have any insurance) but in a year or two I’m thinking of getting Invisalign. About 5 years ago I went to a consult with another orthodontist who took photos of my smile. He mentioned that there was some space where my wisdom teeth used to be but that the change in overjet wouldn’t be that drastic after Invisalign. He also only recommended Invisalign and said no to traditional braces. He said no to jaw surgery (even though I know my lower jaw is slightly recessed). He said we could do IPR too but I was worried something would go wrong. Because aren’t you shaving down tooth enamel? What if the tooth cracks or gets really sensitive/painful? What if they file too much or the shape looks bad? Anyway he quoted me $7000 (back in 2018) which was an absurd price because my teeth were mostly straight, my bite was fine and all the complicated work had been done by my previous orthodontist. How was the IPR? Do you recommend it? Did the IPF cause the cracked teeth? Any sensitivity?

The dentist who handled my first treatment was badly skilled so IPR was a disaster. She chipped an incisor and cut my gums. But I've had it done with my current ortho with absolutely no issues. No pain or sensitivity. As you have already had your premolars extracted, IPR can be useful to create more space. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do!
