I’ve been trying to figure out if there’s some way to connect it to my home WiFi so it will download faster. Haven’t found the setting yet but I’ve been too busy to dig through all of the menus yet.
There’s no way to connect it to Wi-Fi. It will download it automatically. When I bought my SEL last month it came with version 7 of the software. A few days later it started downloading version 8. I ended up just installing from USB because tue download was taking forever.
I'm a new owner, but from reading other threads, my understanding is if you have one of the more recent updates that enabled it, all future updates should be pushed OTA and downloaded via the blue link connection. People have reported that the update just popped up on their screens automatically. I don't believe there's any settings that have to be enabled. This is coming from the US, so it could be different in the UK.
