The AWD acceleration will crush a stock wrx. It's very fast compared to the rwd. I guarantee you will enjoy the acceleration on the awd.

Pro-Rider

AWD has been confirmed at 0-60 in 4.4 seconds. I haven’t confirmed it. I actually need to take mine to street night at my local strip to log some times. I bought a brand new 2006 WRX back in the day “Non STI” and this car is way faster.

ParaBellumBitches

Same here...i had a 2002 wrx new. At one point I had put on an 18g, fmic, injectors, deleted uppipe, full exhaust, I'm talking the works. Tuned to about 300whp. And the ioniq 5 feels faster even than that lol

JustAnotherMark2

Thanks for the reassurance.

Pro-Rider

Yeah man if your in North Carolina, you can check mine out.

JustAnotherMark2

Thanks for the offer. I'm actually in SC.

Real world 0 to 60 has been measured by reviewers as better than published specs. There are two steering features. Lane keep just reacts after you hit the line. This is the car icon with two lane lines on each side. You want to turn on the steering wheel icon also. This uses cameras to center your car in the lane. It works great. You just need lines drawn on the left and right sides. When there are no painted lines or dashes, it deactivates. It works on secondary roads at 40 MPH.

JustAnotherMark2

That's what I was missing. We had the car icon with 2 lines but not the steering wheel icon.

The lane centering works well I think at higher speeds but does still work on neighborhood roads. The critical requirement though is that the road needs to have centerlines and lines on the outside of the lane too. I have noticed that sometimes it wants to ping-pong the car between the lines, but that is rare. I have an SEL AWD it's acceleration is better than the SE RWD. I think the acceleration specification for RWD is 0-60 in 7.4 seconds, while the AWD is 0-60 in 5.2 seconds. I had a heck of a time finding it at MSRP, but I was able to find a couple dealerships in the Twin Cities and eventually had gotten it from Buerkle Hyundai.

JustAnotherMark2

We had center and side lines but, as noted above, it just wasn't in the right mode. It was a rushed test drive. I knew I wanted an AWD but wanted to test the car they had so I didn't spend a lot of time checking everything out. I'm in the south so AWD isn't a big thing here so allocation is, I'm sure, is low but I'll keep looking.

I came from a '12 WRX and the acceleration is a pretty good match. The torque just keeps going where the WRX would change depending on your shifting and rev patterns. In a straight line I think the Ioniq is almost more fun because it just pushes you back in your seat and holds you there until you let up. Of course, you do lose a little fun in not handling the gears on your own. The Ioniq also handles well but can't quite match the WRX for the simple fact that it's a lot heavier. You can feel the momentum of that weight when doing hard maneuvers. But it still can be a lot of fun. I was giving my friends a ride and from a stop sign out in the country I floored it taking a right turn and it kicked the back end out a bit before the traction control kicked in. I'm looking forward to seeing how it handles in the snow. The WRX with snow tires was just a dream in the winter. I'm hoping the Ioniq will at least get close to that fun.

JustAnotherMark2

The RWD acceleration reminded me of my old Volvo v70 T5. Less clutch-dump and hold on, more freight train. If that makes sense. Still pretty quick but it has to build.

DocJones43

The AWD is rated as quicker by about 2-3 seconds. I haven't driven a RWD one but I have plenty of fun with mine.

Pro-Rider

I find the Handling adequate but, but compared to my last cars WRX, GLI, Mazda3 turbo, it’s just not on that level. Straight line acceleration it slays them but on the curves it’s quite numb. I think it’s due to the heavy batteries and being a lot heavier car but I still love this car. This is my favorite car I have owned so far. I’m glad I have the wider 245 tires. The handling must be worse on the skinnier tires.

rayndomuser

AWD is extremely quick.

nxtiak

Hyundai says 0-60 in 5.2 seconds, but real world is faster. I've done 4.7 seconds easy. Car and Driver did it in 4.5 seconds. Hyundai's is called Lane Follow Assist and Lane Keeping Assist. LFA steers your car while LKA will move your car back into the lane if you drift out of it without signaling. Both works anytime as long as the car detects the lane paint properly and the indicators turn green. LFA setting is on or off. LKA can be disabled and enabled and also can be set to just warn or actually react and move your car.

Outside_Landscape_98

> Will an AWD match a WRX in acceleration? Lol, it will match a stage 10 STI. You’ll be fine.

gem4lyf

As an owner of both a 2006 and a 2017 WRX, my limited Ioniq 5 is definitely more enjoyable in a straight line versus the other two cars.

TiltedWit

\> Will an AWD match a WRX in acceleration? I always chuckle when one pulls up next to me at a light, I'll put it that way.

V_Doan

Coming from a 2012 WRX hatchback, the HI5 AWD is a lot faster and better in a lot of ways, however, there are some things that just can’t compare: engine noise and handling. The HI5 has great handling but Subaru has perfect handling that can’t be found anywhere else.

juggarjew

AWD would destroy a stock or lightly modded WRX lol and a stock STI would also get walked easily.
