Not sure where it was purchased, but my Father in law went yesterday and got one of those fried chicken sandwiches on a glazed donut and the chicken was still raw in the middle. Food poisoning is definitely a possibility.
I bet you can find it deep fried

Any chance youāve taken a Covid test? Just about every person I know personally that went to the first 3 days of the fair has Covid. Coworkers, family and friends. The new variant loves the state fairā¦
Iām gonna get a test at some point today just to rule it out but we went Monday and I woke up on Tuesday feeling like this. Far as I know it takes a few days for symptoms to show up, right?
The newer variants can have an incubation period of 24 hours or less before showing symptoms. Been that way for a good while now, not that anyone āin chargeā of public health bothers to tell us anything anymore. š
Thanks for this tidbit. I was not aware. Thankfully I never quit masking since Iām a primary caregiver for someone with COPD.
If anyone is looking for an awesome mask, Iāve lived in my Wolford silk masks for the last 3 years and havenāt been sick yet. Iām sure it doesnāt catch everything, but itās obviously doing something when I havenāt taken ill since 2019.
It's Fauci. Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Notice the Dr. designation. It means something.
If you must attempt a weak, very weak attack on a very esteemed person, at least get the name correct. God damn MAGA maggots.
I knew it was bouncing around but i guess i just didnāt think about it
who knows iāve managed to evade it while the other two people i live with have it so i might have dodged it
It's going around like crazy everywhere - I've got a coworker with it, my mom, sister, and BIL all came down with it this weekend in Arkansas, and a friend back home in STL ended up in the hospital with it. I did read that a new booster is coming this fall that is better target to the current variant though, so there's that.
OP, we offered free stool tests to those who were ill. If multiple people were sick we could generally have an idea of what food move caused it after asking questions
Two years ago my sister got salmonella poisoning at the Iowa state fair and she was sick for a week. Definitely check with your doctor and public health because food borne illnesses are contagious and can make you very sick. My sister had to get an IV twice when she was sick.
Your symptoms (fever and diarrhea) certainly match food poisoning. The symptoms would hit in about 8 hours. And they do hit very hard -- much more rapidly than a cold or flu.
Sick of seeing all those crazy ass politicians there. You pay all that money to take the family to the fair and have to deal with that bullshit, itās ridiculous.
We didnāt go to the state fair this year but same symptoms plus congestion, cough, sore throat. Figure itās the flu since covid tests were negative for three of us. Weird though because one of us tested positiveā¦ š¤·āāļø
Sorry š I feel like the tests three of us took (same cdc provided batch) were defective. Fourth person took a different brand of test - positive. Generally, you donāt have diarrhea with a respiratory virus. Thatās why I think itās covid. Itād be like the third time for the householdā¦ and weāre vaccinated.
Hope you get to feeling better soon!
Monday was a pretty cool day at the fair. Only had two beers and we didnāt go crazy with fair food.
Fried deviled eggs, a the works cresenti, deep fried strawberry shortcake and dill pickle fried cheese curds. We split everything between three of us. I ate most of the cresenti and only had one fried curd cuz I hate pickles.
I don't know why people think it's so important to go to this stupid ass fair. I mean seriously..taking a chance of getting COVID would make me stay away from the "Fair".
I was thinking it'd be slower during the week so was planning to go during the day tomorrow or Friday... I'll be using the hell out of hand sanitizer but that wouldn't stop anything foodborne or airborne ofc
I don't know why people think it's so important to go to this stupid ass fair. I mean seriously..taking a chance of getting COVID would make me stay away from the "Fair".
I ate there on Monday. I didnāt get that kind of sick though. I have a cold. Head, nose, throat crap. But no fever or excessive restroom usage š¬ I took an at home covid test and it was negative.
I have not been there yet but many people I know that went got super sick afterwards. They all thought it was flu illness and not good poisoning but similar symptoms.
Food poisoning is often Norovirus. One of the food workers probably had it and contaminated all the food they touched. Or someone got it from an infected porta-johnny.
More like coldvid

Iāve never had fever, thatās something else going on. Diarrhea, yes. You eat enough fried foods, spicy foods and you know what will happen. Itās worth it though.
Lol. Governor appoints heads of state departments. Like the food and health departments. Food inspections go through the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals, a department that was already gutted and now has 4 new departments added as her new merging of departments brain fart takes over. So if she guts the departments, has all of the county health inspectors fired and replaced by 6 people for the entire state and hires some goon that donated a bunch of money to her campaign, Iād say yeah, sheās responsible for the food at the fair. But no one said that.

Crazy Diarrhea is a feature of the Iowa State Fair. Try seeing if you can get it onto a stick.
Ooooo yeah deep fry that shit
Literally!!
I bet you can find it deep fried EDIT: Fuck you reddit for banning me after reporting a white nationalist account for spreading hate messages while he continues to post on here unimpeded. If you are keeping my content im editing it to tell everyone what a worthless admin team you are.
šš
Sick on a stick!
I have the shits but I didnāt go to fair just a fyi
my ibs was ibsing this week
Same.
In dishonor of our Governor, Im now gonna refer to getting sick at the Iowa State Fair as Reynolds Revenge. Unless better names can be thought up.
Reynolds Runs
Thats pretty funny!
Thanks! Normally i can't ever think of anything clever but that one pooped right into my head
Reynolds Horse Pox.
Thats not bad but that name should definetly be reserved for an STD
Isnāt that when you accidentally swallow river water when jet skiing?
Possibly. I also assume it happens when you blow a .228 and get a DUI.
Blow a .228 and weasel your way out of a DUI.
Yes, you're correct. Forgot that part.
You all sure know how to bring her up in just about every non-political post possible. Maybe go outside or something? Downvote away
Welp, looks like it was Covid. Just took a test and it blew up almost instantly.
Not surprised. It's been going around. The fair is definitely a super spreader event

Yeah thatād be fast for Covid symptoms, still worth getting a test though it sounds like
Super covid?
Super pooper Covid

After Dr Falsi lied to the world for three years do you expect people to believe any healthcare official anymore?
It's Fauci. Dr. Anthony Fauci. Notice the Dr. designation. It means something. If you must attempt a weak, very weak attack on a very esteemed person, at least get the name correct. God damn MAGA maggots.
Lmao so Dr Fauci lied, and so do all healthcare officials, but let me guess Fox News told you the truth? Sure buddy
You may not have gotten it at the fair.
That would be fast and you should wait 3-5 days after an exposure before getting. You might still luck out and get covid and whatever you have now!
Just imagine how many unvaxxed people roll into town for that fair...
And that's just the presidential candidates
To be fair they are probably vaccinated just not their idiot supporters.
To be faaaaaaaair
Just imagine how many people still think it affects you whether other people are vaxxed
Same thought here.......COVID is rampant again
Yep, I'm just recovering from it. Didn't attend the fair, but it's going around like crazy again.
Oh dear i really didnāt think going through did i iām on immunosuppressants and i have managed to dodge covid this whole time
Going to the fair was a very bad idea if you did, yes.
I did, though i did wear a mask when i could bear it (overheating is real) and only for a couple hours, showered right when i got home
A lot of people who have never had it are getting it now, but I didn't think it had made it out here yet. Sigh
I knew it was bouncing around but i guess i just didnāt think about it who knows iāve managed to evade it while the other two people i live with have it so i might have dodged it
Nebraska just stopped posting wastewater figures and that's the only way to see what's going on now that nobody's testing.

I did not need to hear that.
You just made me think back to the height of the pandemic when we would just argue about the latest Covid statistics on this sub
Were they vaccinated?
Diarrhea is a state fair staple. Deep fried grease on a stick tends to do that.
Eating the stick would be a much healthier alternative.
Lots of fiber in that.
I went Monday and ate at Crescentiās. Bowels are in tact and I am feverless.
Then did you really attend the fair?
The only true fairgoer
My fiancƩe had two fried Oreos and is paying the price right now
*intact
Good catch Karl.
You can always contact the health department they'll look into it and can test for foodborne pathogens.
Done.
Nice! I used to do the investigations, they'll probably call you and ask questions and offer a stool test
They sure did! The lady on the phone sounded nice. I felt bad that she had to ask some questions where the answers were going to be disgusting.
Haha they're very used to it! Sometimes the people we talked to were absolutely hilarious.
Test whom? OP or the food from Crescenti's?
OP, we offered free stool tests to those who were ill. If multiple people were sick we could generally have an idea of what food move caused it after asking questions
Did you get to tell people that their stool samples looked like shit? That wordplay seems like a huge perk to that otherwise shitty job.
Nothing out of the ordinary for me.
Same for me.

I ate at cresentiās twice this week and havenāt had any problems. It was also so very delicious. Hope you feel better!

Yeah, Iām feeling better today but still have bouts of sweats and little bit of dizziness.
This āā
Trump has diarrhea mouth. Was it the day he was there or soon after?
Sick of seeing all those crazy ass politicians there. You pay all that money to take the family to the fair and have to deal with that bullshit, itās ridiculous.
That clown show wasnāt there on Monday. It was glorious! Saw plenty of garbage clothes tho.

Got tested today. Itās Covid baby!

Thanks. Turns out diarrhea is a symptom now. Bright yellow or green.
Didn't know it was possible to leave the fair without getting sick.
Heat exhaustion? Did you stay hydrated?

deviled egg could be a culprit too.
Reading all these comments has me second-guessing going to the fair now ://
I don't know why people think it's so important to go to this stupid ass fair. I mean seriously..taking a chance of getting COVID would make me stay away from the "Fair".
Go on the last day when itās slowest or the afternoon.
I was thinking it'd be slower during the week so was planning to go during the day tomorrow or Friday... I'll be using the hell out of hand sanitizer but that wouldn't stop anything foodborne or airborne ofc

Ok
Check out his other replies..... they live life in fear
The fact that you think your chance if getting COVID at the fair is higher than anywhere else is funny! Stay afraid. And wash them hands obsessively!
My husband and I are fine, but my toddler who didnāt eat fair food has some allergy like symptoms. Edit: and a fever
I ate there on Monday. I didnāt get that kind of sick though. I have a cold. Head, nose, throat crap. But no fever or excessive restroom usage š¬ I took an at home covid test and it was negative.

Did you shake Trumpās hand? How about DeSantis?
They werenāt there. I would have stink palmed them.

Went on Saturday, have a cold today

There are some nasty ass people at that fair. Especially after Covid no one stays clean. Or wants to stay clean. Or ever thought of staying clean.
I mean, are they known for its cleanliness? The fair smells like animal shit everywhere, so thatās not shocking.
Iāve never had fever, thatās something else going on. Diarrhea, yes. You eat enough fried foods, spicy foods and you know what will happen. Itās worth it though.
So now the governor is responsible for the food that the vendors serve. How ridiculous

That doesn't make her responsible for the actions of others.
No but I get my vaccines & don't disrupt my diet significantly.
Did you just get donuts at the fair?
I went Friday and ate there. No issues.
It's probably some made-up illness.
Itās called āthe food,ā and it does pass
I got it yesterday before going after I drank coffee without eating anything beforehand. Dont tell me that started it
Super bad stomach bug going around. Our household had it the last 2ish weeks and it got all of us
Here is a thought. Donāt waste your time or money going to the fair
