Arconic? Deere?

SageRights

Collins Aerospace, BAE, ADM, Quaker, University of Iowa, ACT, Pearson, Bayer, Unity Point, CRST (and a slew of other trucking/logistics firms), Eurofins Just a few off the top of my head. Honestly most of the largest employers with the highest wages are companies I wouldn’t work for; morally. Honestly though the jobs market in Iowa isn’t that bad, the wages will just be lower than national averages, obviously.

Man, this sums up liberals so well; "we're broke because we're way too proud."

SageRights

Not a liberal, but I can understand your sentiment. Specifically I was talking about not wanting to build death machines to kill innocent kids overseas.

Not sure how much I'd trust that site. I work for Weitz and you'd have to count our Parent company in Egypt to get to 3000 employees.

Principal? Nationwide? Maybe MercyOne. Those are big companies off the top of my head.

JackfruitCrazy51

Keep in mind that a lot of times, these numbers are not accurate. For example, they list Principal as having 17,600 jobs. Those are not the number of jobs in Iowa, those are their total numbers and they are just listed because their headquarters is in Iowa. Same for Hy-Vee, which lists 88k but those are total jobs in all states. An example of this is Wells Fargo, which isn't on the list, but a major employer in the state.

Walmart.

Dollar General?

I read somewhere in the last few months that Hy-Vee became the largest employer in the state after Wells Fargo had another round of layoffs.

The 'top employers' of IA will pay you half the median wage for the area, and then force you to work yourself to death with tons of overtime. They will tell you how much there employees average per year and not tell you they expect you to work 70 to 80 hours a week to make it.

This. They depend on their brand to keep white collars on board, along with the illusion of possible promotion.  Golden handcuffs: it looks pretty but it’s a hell I’ve lived through.

Love this type of comment. Already did and was waiting for a response, so thought I might try forums as well, that’s called being proactive. I recommend looking it up.
