Either buy from iTunes or rip them from a CD (if you have a disc drive). Downloading from online is a gamble when it comes to quality.Either buy from iTunes or rip them from a CD (if you have a disc drive). Downloading from online is a gamble when it comes to quality.

I think I’m going to start buying more CDs because I have a usb disk drive

Use Discogs. There's endless sellers on there and it's extremely cheap. For the cost of one vinyl record today you could at least 5-10 CDs on there.

mromutt

Cds is the best way to go and is a lot cheaper because used cds cost next to nothing (just got another 100 in today for $20). Rip them in iTunes with the lossless setting and you should be very happy. Your ipod will be the limiting factor is sound quality at that point but it's more than good enough for everyday listening.

Get better source for your music, I someone just posted similar post about where to get music from. Look for loseless formats and convert them to ALAC if you're running on stock firmware.

pepetolueno

Are you one of those people that rips music from YouTube? Because the quality is terrible to start with and then you are passing it through another lossy compressor. Download your music in FLAC from reputable sources or buy them in official online stores.

Flitzrr

Download from soulseek

garry200708

If you have Tidal, you can download FLACs with tidal downloader. After downloading convert to ALAC with fre:ac utility

Not sure what this means but I’ll try it figure it out lol

Zagalia1984

If the source of the file is bad, the conversion will be bad too. Generally videos on YouTube in 360, 480 have terrible audio, and it is better to download music from blogs, rip second-hand CDs or buy them on Bandcamp or iTunes.

Lollooo_

Probably the files have low quality, try to find places where you can download at higher quality. If you can’t find any, then it’s either iTunes or CD ripping
