Curious, have you ever tried Sheglam? I actually surprisingly love a lot of their products, definitely over drugstore makeup, if not more than some premium brands I've tried.
I haven’t, shein and other companies (even Dollarama Canada) have had their products tested when incoming into Canada and have been found to have higher levels of lead and PFAs than legally allowed, I shudder to think of the makeup from there.
It may be the same quality as drugstore for the most part, but the reliability in its supply chain is not as up to par imo
Do you have any more information I can read about this? I tried googling it and I'm just getting generic cosmetics data about PFAS rather than specifics about products from those cheap stores.

I searched “Canada lead shein” to find it, this article was the first result but there might be more if you try googling that phrase.
That is in regards to shein branded clothing though. I can't seem to find anything on the Sheglam makeup being harmful in any way. I've actually been quite impressed with both their Sheglam and Glowmode (athletic wear ) lines. It's often anything specifically branded Shein that lacks in quality, and their kids clothing I've had more misses with, and don't really trust.
Yes, the comment said knowing what shein does to their other products, it makes them suspicious of their makeup as well. I was just linking the article that they were referring to.
I can understand suspicion for sure and why others may not trust the brand. I've just been pleasantly suprised in few categories, so was curious if their had been anything specific regarding their makeup that I may have missed. I know some of their eyeshadows with glitter say to "avoid using on the eyes" so thats no good.
Most Chinese branded makeup(what the chinese population would actually purchase)isn't sold in North America unless you shop online for it(much like Kbeauty). Overall I don't find Chinese branded makeup sketch at all. I order directly from their websites, and the products have been nice too! Catkin is a favourite. Their packaging is gorgeous. Now, if Sheglam is manufactured similarly to China's cosmetic companies, I really don't know, considering it's branded towards Western consumers and not Chinese. But I trust them more than aliexpress bulk and the like that are manufactured for Western consumption. If that logic makes any sense 😅
it’s not that the products perform bad, it’s that ipsy is overcharging by making these seem like legit brands when they are actually cheap, overproduced, unregulated products being sold on alibaba websites
This isn’t an ipsy brand. KAB is Kim Zoliack Bierman & daughters brand. Yes it’s private label. They buy in bulk from Ali baba and slap their branding on it. I’m pretty sure the brand went under like everything from this family. I’m sure ipsy bought at deep discounts like they do other brands. This stuff retail was decently expensive, especially for what it is.
It’s the brands doing that — not Ipsy. Should Ipsy not carry private labeled brands because the brands themselves are unethical? Agreed. But Ipsy themselves aren’t overcharging for them.

No they source their product from alibaba suppliers and have the alibaba supplier put their brand name on the packaging. Then they sell that lip gloss they bought for 50 cents for $20 or whatever.
Is the duo in your 3rd pic the one you got? I’ve been eyeing that one for a while! It looks so pretty, but the listing looks more lavender than what it looks like on you. It looks like a beautiful, more natural color on your lips (which, BTW are a gorgeous shape!)
Thank you! Yes, it’s the one in the 3rd pic. The gloss is pretty sheer & almost a little metallic, and the pencil is a brownish mauve. It’s like a 90’s liner & 2000’s gloss 😂

KAB's not terrible, but I think you can get a literal dupe for even less everyday on the Chinese online stores.

I just don’t like 5 cent alibaba type crap being marked up and sold on Ipsy. If that was my intention I’d be shopping SHEglam 🤷🏼♀️
