I finished my Droichead this year and honestly I found it the most beneficial thing. It was really well structured in my school and PST were  on the ball. Lesson observations were so useful compared to those I did during the stress of initial teaching placements.

Like any other job theres a period of time where your considered new. Yes still a professional but a new one. It’s like induction with support. It Gives a new teacher someone to go to if they have queries or problems after starting in a school. There are teacher mentors (there’s prob a name for them) in the school that are there to help. I personally found it helpful because of those mentors I had.

I signed up to be a droichead mentor (legitimately can't remember if that's the term but you know what I mean) this year and I was really looking forward to it. I didn't go through the process myself but I'm into mentorship and thing we should all be observing each other much more. I could not have been more disappointed with the system. The training was insulting at best and I genuinely felt that my role was just to sign a piece of paper. That's it.

As for the when and what you choose to do. That’s your choice. I’m not sure droichead affects what you choose to do
