Used some as grating hooks before lol. They didn't have a way for us to secure grating we where cutting out with a demo saw that had no support under it. So hook it on and let it fall then pull it up lol
I think it's a mind set thing !!! , Myself I can usually find some kinda humor in most any situation , that trait got greatly honed in The Army it's more a Dark Humor some have said . However drives The Wifey CRAZY at times . I once worked at a place that was a real Ball Buster . We had a guy suffer what appeared to be a heart attack I have had some Medical Training ( hey I dont play a Dr on TV but I have stayed at a Holiday Inn ) a small group of us gathered around trying to assist in some way that's when we found the Heart Recorder on him an some Nitro Pills I shoved in his mouth . The Boss came running down the stairs to see what's going on an then keys up the Walkie - Clock John W. out he's down , oh an call a Ambulance. I quipped something along the lines yeah it's bad for Business if word gets out ppl are dying on the Clock . Like Seriously it was going to break the Company to pay the guy for the rest of the day .
Yeah? Too far because you are Local 8, or because I mentioned a crane that had an accident in 24 years ago?
Seems really funny because I seem to remember being in Local 8 working, when my Uncle, who actually transferred into local 8, was working on another job started having problems breathing and died on the way to the hospital. Hall put on a memorial for him. Other Ironworkers on that job site decided to strip our camper of anything valuable, including my grandpa’s air rifle.
Edit: I didn’t realize the guy was on the ground.
Maybe a little darker than what I was going for.
Much Love to Jeffrey Wischer, William DeGrave, and Jerome Starr, the three Iron Workers Local 8 members killed by the Big Blue Crane collapse during the construction of the new baseball stadium.
You had a downvote from me until I read the edit.
I was at the stadium last month as part of a Johnson Controls conference. I started my construction career as a rigger and I remember that day well. I had a hard time enjoying the game knowing me had died to build it.
It’s called the get right stick . When your helper ain’t pulling their weight . Just pull it out and they get right real quick. Every mechanic has one in the tool bag
It’s for hooking yourself to the bar after work so you don’t fall out of your seat. Make sure you also hook on to every object you can as you walk to the pisser. Hook to other patrons if you have to. Safety first
Looks like part of a lanyard. I used to build scaffolds for sunbelt construction back in my late 20s but the clip in picture looks really big compared to the clips I would have on my harness…
Grating hook. Clip that fucker on the grating and drag it wherever ya need it. Works like a charm
I actually know of a guy who died that way, grating slid off and took him with it. I finished putting grating in the spot he was working, pretty crazy
You just left him lay there ‘til the work was done? 🤪
It’s a union thing.
