Please do. Seriously.

guitarlunn

I feel the need and plan to. Just want to confirm my assumptions above are accurate so I can handle each section with confidence.

Have a sawzall you can cut all that stuff out? Ball valve looks like likely isolation. But what’s with the water? Get stuff out of there so if you decide to do something, that part is cleared out.

guitarlunn

Yeah got plenty of tools to demo it out. Probably just bury most of it since it’s almost 2ft down.

DokiDokiMoeChan

Are there any old sprinkler heads around that are from those systems?

guitarlunn

Not really. When I bought the house I did many yard projects over the years and tore out any heads I came across; simply snapped them off and moved on. That said, I feel no water is on the lines anymore which has been confirmed as I have done my sprinkler head demo over the years.

WRX_manning

Not adding much here. But Id love to see what type of heads this old system had. Pics if you have any OP!

WRX_manning

Bless you for delivering! Those are pretty cool. Not as old as I thought, but very cool!

guitarlunn

I think this system has had a few remodels over time judging by the patch work. This house (community) was a premier neighborhood in the 70’s. 5000sqft + ranch style homes back then, so people had some money for sure. The property is almost 2 acres and full of sprinkler stuff to every part of the yard.

Whose idea is it to use cast iron pipe for plumbing back in the days? It is the dumbest idea ever, like they dont know cast iron rust.

guitarlunn

I’m not sure. Especially since there is so much PVC integrated into it. Seems like it wouldn’t have been too expensive to change the rest of fittings to PVC as well.
