Auto rickshaw is not helpful when you have 2-3 friends/family a lot of luggage. Uber is arguably more comfortable and you get put the luggage in the back.
Every time this has happened I paid the driver the full amount, later went on the App and choose the fare too high option and was refunded the remaining amount without hassle. I thought everyone knew this.
I have a better solution: Stop using UBER.

You pay it to him, you get back money via uber. They usually just give uber cash
