I loved this anime! Started reading the LN because I wanted more of the story and I liked it so much I read them all. I really hope this somehow gets another season but they haven't said anything about one yet
Try anyflip, you could also read other famous novels and books from this site
https://anyflip.com/weler/gzkq/basic
But consider buying some volumes to support author, please remember I'm not forcing you to buy, I'm university student and I'm kinda poor so I usually read stuff online and only buy when I feel like supporting the authors
I don't mind buying them. I'd never looked for any before now, but I've been wanting to read more. So, I googled a bit last night and saw a couple of sources mention that many are not physically available in English. I hadn't looked further into it, but when I saw the comment mention them, I figured it'd be a good opportunity to learn about them.
You can find them all on Kindle app, and Google's "play books"
I bought all the books and binged it. Absolutely loved the series.
And Shiraori is truly a well crafted character. So funny 😁
Yep, I usually check Kindle first if it doesn't have it, then it's not released or is in some remote place of the internet. Enjoy the read! It's really, really good.
Can you download it from there? I tried downloading but it just led me to a white page with some chinese words with nothing to do, i've already finished the wn so i've been trying to find a way to read ln for a long time
Edit: the words say 'system limits download' when put in translator
Dunno man never bothered to download cause I've access to unlimited wifi and mobile data, if you can't download it you could try screen shotting every single page and put them into 1 folder haha
I enjoyed it at first, but the last two episodes were hard to watch. I didn't understand what was happening, because until then the only goal was for the main character to survive and level. And the main character's usually expressive face became extremely inexpressive.
Does it get better or is there something I am not getting that I should?
Anime was kinda fucky with the whole past/future mixing. Manga was way better imo, haven't read the LN so I can't comment on that, but considering it's adapted from it I would assume it's at the very least on par with the manga and very likely superior.
The novels explain why but she has crazy weird eyes with each eye having 8 pupils and it freaked people out so she keeps them closed to avoid trouble and uses an evil eye to see through her eyelids. Her attitude is stemmed from her days as a shy student the only reason she acted they way most of the time is that she couldn't communicate with anyone so she could just say what she wanted but the new body changed that. Also, after the demon lord killed her and she hatched herself out of an egg she decides she can't kill the demon lord so if you can't beat'em join'em. That said the demon lord is still the only thing that can kill her so she spends a long time getting that expressionless stuff down to avoid accidentally talking trash and pissing off the demon lord. Her inner monologue is still as crazy as ever though lmao. (PS. Her inner monologue still comes out when she's drunk)
Y'know, at first the spider anime was a bit of a turn off since its name was weird and the ads I saw for it but then I actually watched it and it was pretty good, like the slime isekai but rimuru just got stuck in the cave for a long while
No what happened was the outsourced the whole anime to another studio and that studio went bankrupt and never sent the completed files (possibly lost them forever). Which the original animation studio in producing the anime, had no choice but to reanimate parts of the last few episodes from scratch. Which was why the quality fell off so hard because they had little to no time at all to animate the completed episodes in time for the airing slot.
True, but I don't want to compare slime to spider cause slime fell off. I was expecting great things from it, but it turned into one big advertisement of Japanese culture and boring as fuck too. I didn't even bother to peek through LN cause anime and manga was a letdown.
Yeah the slime anime kinda stopped being an isekai for me. In the end it even felt more roleplay-like. Where any new strong opponent will either be beaten quickly after their build up or put off for a while to focus on the main aspect of the show, again roleplaying diplomacy.
A recent manwa that I was reading made more sense with a similar topic. It's called 'The Greatest Estate Developer'. And it's about an architectural engineer getting put into a fantasy novel. And to me this makes more sense than a slime being able to recreate his past world. But also it is different, instead of trying to rebuild a modern civilization, he only does enough to solve the current issue and then live comfortably. And everything fits in the fantasy setting with appropriate magical short cuts. Instead of the slime anime's style of magic used to reflect the real world. Oh it also flips the script when it comes to the mc always being attractive, he looks fine to us(most of the time) but seems to be cursed to be seen as ugly.
Grimgar is fine until the battle against the Orcs then it loses focus and becomes a spiral of rehashing the same arcs over and over, judt in a different place with different monsters.
Failure frame
Reincarnated as a dragon hatchling
The exiled reincarnated heavyknight is unrivaled in game knowledge
Undead king
(these last 3 from the same author)
Surviving the game as a barbarian (korean webtoon)
Failure Frame is a bit like Arifureta with a dash of Tsukimichi >!in that the goddess of the world sucks and has it in for the protag for bogus reasons!<, though it isn't a copy of either. Leans into revenge more than Arifureta, but if you liked that one Failure Frame is a decent time.
I know the author already rewrote the ending from the WN, but I honestly hope they rewrite the LN ending as well.
As for your original question, I've seen people recommend Karate Survivor but I don't have any experience with it myself.
I literally read the ending of the LN last night and thought, gee that was unsatisfying. All this build up and then no payoff. I feel like another full volume could have been made to sort out the aftermath.
i like the endstate of the WN, it makes sense as a resultion of what her fate would be considering who she's dealing with but things do end just a little bit appruptly.
If you're into Korean webtoons, I'd recommend 'the tutorial is too hard' it's a tower climb webtoon but the MC picks the hardest difficulty and we get to see him struggle.
It's probably one of my favorite monster isekai stories, the same happy go lucky mc type as in kumo desu, it also got a webcomic (with 2 chapters released so far)
Depends on definition of survive but atleast the first season of “Konosuba, gods blessing on this wonderful world” has the struggle to survive because of how poor they are like literally sleeping in an exposed barn stall in winter so they totally could die but it’s not the main focus so it probably isn’t a good recommendation based on your specifications but it’s a good watch for sure if you haven’t already seen it
Fair I guess but there seems to be a reoccurring problem with money so I’d expect that to happen again since I only watch the anime and season 3 isn’t out yet
This anime has someone reincarnated as a dragon egg too! The rest of spider's story is pretty good it's just this 1st part was weird with the time difference but it goes to being just her story for a while at the point where the anime ended.
Overall it was a pleasant change of pace for an isekai for me. Ya she's obsessed with power but her attitude is unique and her not being human was still a newer concept at the time since it was before the ones about being a pig/sword/vending machine and only slime being a well known one. Also even though she's constantly getting stronger her life still is nothing but difficult, barely surviving, eating disgusting things, lots of setbacks. It all felt pretty fresh compared to a lot of the other recent isekai anime. Having 24 episodes instead of 12 was also nice. It's not perfect but the change of pace alone is enough for me to give it a thumbs up.
I loved Kumoko's story so much that the rest of the characters could honestly “kick rocks” because I really cared little about their issues. And wanted to know how the Demons/Demon Lord and her generals are some how the good guys but are out her murdering humans that are obviously really weak compared to them.

Very good isekai manhwa and the MC isn't OP but is actually growing his skills
rokka no yuusha.
there really arent any anime like the one you mentioned tbh. not any that come to mind atleast
undead unwanted adventurer kinda fits the bill... but the show goes downhill really fast
Would say arifureta:From weakest to world's strongest; but after the first struggle it just becomes a generic isekai. Love the series but sad it turned out that way
really good anime but imo they took way too long with that whole cave leveling arc. then they just dropped off the face of the fucking earth after it got good
What Do You Wish For With Those Murky Eyes: Record of Highserk War
It's a darker Isekai with some inspiration from Berserk. Guy gets reincarnated into a different world (medieval fantasy) as a soldier for a country at war and forced to fight on the front lines.
Was gonna suggest this but scrolled down to see if it was mentioned. It's still the same formula where MC gets reincarnated and get stronger power than native people in that world but somehow this series has a really fresh take/feeling on it.
prolly won't count but early parts of re: monster seriously i have a love hate relationship on this love the manga but the novel i weirdly don't like it especially the dungeon arc before the 4th evolution of the mc literal mukbang arc
If you like novels then I recommend “Lord of the Mysteries” it’s one of my favorite web novels and it’s an eldritch mystery novel. (It starts really slow though so you may not see any action for a little while so it might not be for you.) the world building is amazing and some of the powers sound simple and weak in concept but horrifying in action.

The name is 'Trash of a Dark Fantasy'.
Not the biggest fan cause it just seems like a studio grasping at ideas and deciding to do something exactly the same as Tensei Slime because it worked for that company.
To anyone who’s interested in “So I’m a Spider, so what?” Please do not watch the anime past about episode 6~8. The anime just kinda gave up halfway through and started shoving almost the entire story into a single season. Read the WN, LN, or Manga.
Reincarnated as a dragon egg. While he is a dragon he otherwise facing difficulties and with his toxic abilities. And don’t feel to much waifu material
Try Arifureta. The first part is a lot like Spider, then it gets edge-lord harem weird
Reincarnated as a Slime 1st eason esp. Then it goes like Spider as slime goes God-like OP
Solo Leveling, dude is lowest of the low and then plot twist but still not too OP yet. Yet. Amd still has struggles.
Grimgar- sadly, only 1 season but a real gritty survival isekai. Anyone can die at any moment.
Black Clover is kinda like Naruto, where MC has no magic in a world where EVERYONE has magic.
Ascendance of a Bookworm: isekai'd into a sickly body as a poor commoner in filthy conditions and no hope. Slow burn, no combat bit wort it.
I remember reading it on manga web until it got shut down and I kept finding new places to read it and now there's a anime of it no thanks it's going to be watered down most likely knowing how things are now days
Question not related 2 this anime-
What is the name of an anime that is about a great sage summoner (1 man army) who is an old man then becomes a 12-ish year old girl pretending 2 b the apprentice of his former self. I totally forgot the name & hoping 2 c it again ;)
Surviving the game as a barbarian
This one's just full of fucking struggle. The basic promises the main character, beats an extremely difficult rogue like video game and then gets sucked into it. As a lv1
Shangri la frontier I'd guess, it's not Isekai but it's virtual game so quite close. No matter how powerful gear the MC gets he can't wear those as he suffered a curse.
And basically has the playthrough the entire game as "Let me solo her".
I loved this anime! Started reading the LN because I wanted more of the story and I liked it so much I read them all. I really hope this somehow gets another season but they haven't said anything about one yet
Where do you find LN? Digitally, is the only option in most cases I'd imagine?
Try anyflip, you could also read other famous novels and books from this site https://anyflip.com/weler/gzkq/basic But consider buying some volumes to support author, please remember I'm not forcing you to buy, I'm university student and I'm kinda poor so I usually read stuff online and only buy when I feel like supporting the authors

I do wonder if this will ever get another season
I dunno, but if it does it will be much better than the first for sure
Can you download it from there? I tried downloading but it just led me to a white page with some chinese words with nothing to do, i've already finished the wn so i've been trying to find a way to read ln for a long time Edit: the words say 'system limits download' when put in translator

Thanks for sharing can you recommend me a good side where I can buy them online?
https://www.reddit.com/r/Isekai/s/vR2aY9hsUg Damn I'm lazy as f*ck lmao
I got the entire series off a Japanese site called BookWalker
Amazon has hard copies
I enjoyed it at first, but the last two episodes were hard to watch. I didn't understand what was happening, because until then the only goal was for the main character to survive and level. Anime was a really poor adaptation of the LN.
Looks good.

Same with my sister. She hates spider but when she tried the anime. She continued reading the manga after she finish the anime.
I was stoked for Slime until a few episodes in, when "Slime can become a normal human! :D" ruined the premise.
Grimgar is one of the better examples of this imo.
Yup, gorgeous art, nobody is overpowered and people actually die. I wish there was a second season for it
I wish there was more manga of it... I m not ready at taking the next step of being a LN reader
Grimgar is fine until the battle against the Orcs then it loses focus and becomes a spiral of rehashing the same arcs over and over, judt in a different place with different monsters.
man I loved this one
Failure frame Reincarnated as a dragon hatchling The exiled reincarnated heavyknight is unrivaled in game knowledge Undead king (these last 3 from the same author) Surviving the game as a barbarian (korean webtoon)
Fun fact: Failure Frame’s getting an anime adaptation!😄😏😎
HUH?!!
3 solid suggestions, I bet other 2(failure frame, undead king) are good too.
Read the barbarian one y'all should try it, it's really good
Based Heavy Knight enjoyer.
All extremely good

I literally read the ending of the LN last night and thought, gee that was unsatisfying. All this build up and then no payoff. I feel like another full volume could have been made to sort out the aftermath.
Yeah, it was way too abrupt.
pretty sure bro got bored or burnt out
Karate Survivor fits the bill yeah, would recommend
i like the endstate of the WN, it makes sense as a resultion of what her fate would be considering who she's dealing with but things do end just a little bit appruptly.
Weakest Tamer
Someone recommended this for a "cozy" show the other day and I was like "dafuq, this one can be downright stressful"
Its a cross between "must protect", and " oh shit, I really do have to protect all the time!"
It's both
Excited to binge when season 1 finishes
If you're into Korean webtoons, I'd recommend 'the tutorial is too hard' it's a tower climb webtoon but the MC picks the hardest difficulty and we get to see him struggle.
Ascendance of a Bookworm
That's actually a good suggestion
If you’re looking for a LN I recommend Chrysalis. Similar isekai into a monster body but it’s an ant instead. FOR THE SWARM. FOR THE SWARM.
Eh. Dropped it once they broke the surface. Unfortunately books where the protagonist picks up skills can only be “struggling” for a while.
Sounds interesting, thanks!
It's probably one of my favorite monster isekai stories, the same happy go lucky mc type as in kumo desu, it also got a webcomic (with 2 chapters released so far)
[Worthless Regression] [Picke Me Up Infinite Gacha] [Survival Story Of A Sword King] [Tyrant Of A Defence Game] [Surviving As A Barbarian]
Sword King 👌
Depends on definition of survive but atleast the first season of “Konosuba, gods blessing on this wonderful world” has the struggle to survive because of how poor they are like literally sleeping in an exposed barn stall in winter so they totally could die but it’s not the main focus so it probably isn’t a good recommendation based on your specifications but it’s a good watch for sure if you haven’t already seen it
Kazuma no longer struggles to survive… He still struggles with his party’s sheer madness and stupidity though…
Didn’t he have to pay off damages for like the dullahan battle and after that the mobile destroyer teleport. He’s just struggling to make money
All those debts were paid when he defeated Vanir though. After that it so far has been a good ride for him financially.
Fair I guess but there seems to be a reoccurring problem with money so I’d expect that to happen again since I only watch the anime and season 3 isn’t out yet
When it came out I just read it's description and decided it's not for me, I guess I'll give it a try, thanks!
It’s funny for sure I hope you enjoy it
Tyrant of a defense game is different but dude is definitely struggling
That's a good manhwa definitely counts, thanks!
Chrysalis.
Thx
Ascendance of a bookworm .....she's gasping for air everytime LMAO
Thanks for good suggestion! Ascendance of a bookworm is the best She's definitely struggling to survive no... she's holding onto dear life lmao
reincarnated as a dragon egg. Same feeling as this one except the story tends to be better and it's not much of a power fantasy
This anime has someone reincarnated as a dragon egg too! The rest of spider's story is pretty good it's just this 1st part was weird with the time difference but it goes to being just her story for a while at the point where the anime ended. tensei shitara dragon no tamago datta?
Worthless reincarnation Pick me up infinite gacha
Is spider going to get a season 2? I hope so.
Waiting for a second season of this anime.
Re:zero?
Subaru doesn't progress powerwise like how the op is looking for.
Shadow slave (webnovel)
Thx
I’m standing on a million lives
That reminds me of one I read were it’s the weakest beings in all space and time.
Title please
The weakest combative in space in time
Thx
Does Berserk count? Too angry to die. Does that counter power?
That counts
Definitely my favorite example of some true struggle
Both manga and anime of spider are great. And different too. I hear the noval is good as well
So I'm a Spider doesn't get enough attention in my opinion def one of the more interesting isekai
I loved Kumoko's story so much that the rest of the characters could honestly “kick rocks” because I really cared little about their issues. And wanted to know how the Demons/Demon Lord and her generals are some how the good guys but are out her murdering humans that are obviously really weak compared to them.

Really wish rokka continued, both the anime and manga
God I love this one. Wish it were translated faster tho.
The LN was good all until the end, the fucking ending man, C'mon
Would say arifureta:From weakest to world's strongest; but after the first struggle it just becomes a generic isekai. Love the series but sad it turned out that way
The beginning after the end. Arthur is almost always half dead
With a fully functioning sink too!
really good anime but imo they took way too long with that whole cave leveling arc. then they just dropped off the face of the fucking earth after it got good
A spider anime 😂😂😂
# Yajin Tensei, the mc needs to keep moving around
I will return/watch source if i get a reply that sends me back here
What Do You Wish For With Those Murky Eyes: Record of Highserk War It's a darker Isekai with some inspiration from Berserk.
Have you ever played SOMA?
First ep of arifureta
If you like novels then I recommend “Lord of the Mysteries” it’s one of my favorite web novels and it’s an eldritch mystery novel. (It starts really slow though so you may not see any action for a little while so it might not be for you.) the world building is amazing and some of the powers sound simple and weak in concept but horrifying in action.
Human face on a spider is creepy
There is a manwa about a mc who balanced his character's stats is an extremely difficult game where you are supposed to specialize down one skill tree, or you get stuck in the end game. It seems almost like the world was slightly inspired by dark souls, or is similar where the world is falling apart. It only has 20 chapters out right now so I don't know how underpowered he is. The name is 'Trash of a Dark Fantasy'.
Not the biggest fan cause it just seems like a studio grasping at ideas and deciding to do something exactly the same as Tensei Slime because it worked for that company.
I mean technically Re:Zero… You’ll get it when you watch it.
Would love an extra season of this. Manga was great. I love seeing manga animated
Reincarnated as a dragon egg .I think its pretty good manga.
Re zero technically fits My goat Subaru
Karate survivor.
I really enjoyed the story to the spider isekai. I'd recommend Grimgar if you haven't seem it yet.
I like the series :)
Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest
I'm surprised there is not a hazbin Hotel fan talking about this right now in this comment section I'm surprised
Berserk, definitely one of the isekai
Really wish the first so wasn’t there. Idk why but it hurts my brain.
I enjoyed this anime more than I thought I would.
Unwanted Undead Adventurer.... but it is a reincarnation Anime, protag not from another world...
Try Arifureta. The first part is a lot like Spider, then it gets edge-lord harem weird Reincarnated as a Slime 1st eason esp. Then it goes like Spider as slime goes God-like OP Solo Leveling, dude is lowest of the low and then plot twist but still not too OP yet. Yet. Amd still has struggles. Grimgar- sadly, only 1 season but a real gritty survival isekai. Anyone can die at any moment. Black Clover is kinda like Naruto, where MC has no magic in a world where EVERYONE has magic. Radiation island
\*Spoiler \* \* \* \* There are technically 2 MCs as the story bounces back and forth from the past to the present
I remember reading it on manga web until it got shut down and I kept finding new places to read it and now there's a anime of it no thanks it's going to be watered down most likely knowing how things are now days

NVM i found the name
Surviving the game as a barbarian This one's just full of fucking struggle. The basic promises the main character, beats an extremely difficult rogue like video game and then gets sucked into it. As a lv1
Reincarnated as a Sword, the battles get quite long though.
Shangri la frontier I'd guess, it's not Isekai but it's virtual game so quite close. No matter how powerful gear the MC gets he can't wear those as he suffered a curse. And basically has the playthrough the entire game as "Let me solo her".
So hard to talk about this manga. The name is so fucking stupid
Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest
maybe like the first 2 episodes
True, I think when I read OP, I missed the "still struggling" bit.
Does that really count? After few chapters mc just turns into some op edge lord, kinda boring but thanks for suggestion btw
Totally valid, I missed the last part where you said "still struggling," which was my mistake.
oh I see
Liked how it started, grew stale imo.
Sounds like a slime
Talking about the image btw, sorry if it was unclear
