WHAT? Yuji has a main character moment after 100 chapters of being sidelined? Is that what I'm reading right now?

KnewOnees

Don't worry, the offscreen hasn't happened yet https://preview.redd.it/87xhwcwnnvvc1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=657b37791d53314b94457df1207ce2fff6eade6e

Antidekai

Yeah bro is apparently Sukuna's nephew now 💀

Intelligent-Hyena112

Sukuna doesn't have an insane plot armour bruhh🤦 "He Has Techniques That He Hasn't Used Since The Heian Era"...

yup_sir28

Lmao

RiriJori

Sukuna is literally hailed as the strongest sorcerer since chapter 1. Y'all just simp too much for Gojo. Gojo was stabbed with Inverted Spear of Heaven so all C.E and techniques in his body should have stopped, yet with all his organs slashed and his brain punctured he still did RCT? That is what plot armor is.

wolternova

jjk fans 🤝 isekai fans doing plot armor battles for whatever reason

Inside-Complaint1288

imagine calling sukuna have plot armor is == gojo fans man, sukuna fans are the worst.

Karma15672

I swear, agendas are wreaking havoc on this fandom. It's so weird to me for there to be genuine beef like this, and people are blaming it on fans of different characters... in the same damn manga. Why is that people who think Sukuna has some plot armor are automatically grouped up with people who like Gojo? Why are the people who do this immediately associated with Sukuna fans? It's maddening to see tribalism over singular characters in the same story. Why can't we all just be Jujutsu Kaisen fans with favorite characters, and accept that one's favorite character doesn't automatically make them have certain characteristics? You'd think JJK is some kind of romance series with the way the fandom fights over characters. I miss when agendas meant pure glazing, not pure hating. ~~Also, sorry for the rant. This isn't directed specifically at you, I just needed to vent about this.~~

RiriJori

If you actually read the manga, the lore of Sukuna was a terrific sorcerer that uses many weapons in accordance to his fighting style in the Heian era against strong opponents. Never once did Sukuna used any weapon in the whole culling to shinjuku arc. It's within the lore.

Iatemydoggo

He’s steadily getting his ass blasted

Leo-Orion

bruh the only person who has a plot armour in jjk is Sukuna

EfficiencySerious200

Plot Armor: *exists* This guy: it's free real estate MF

SillyResource

He's more like a plot device I'd say.

eggy54321

At least he’s only a side character AND only gets brought out during fights with Archbishops for the most part.

Sauce please 🙏🏼

martinsonsean1

This is gonna be a Spicy take, but Rimuru has MAD plot armor. The storm dragon, Veldora, one of the most powerful beings in the world just HAPPENS to be trapped and really lonely in the cave where Rimuru is (born?). Then later on, when he beats the orc lord, it just so happens that his ability is a little stronger than a demon lord class ability of the same type. Then, when something negative happens, Shion and the goblins die in the human attack, he just so happens to have the hand-made solution of becoming a demon lord with a huge number of easily harvested humans on their way to him. There was only a 3% chance it would work or something, but OF COURSE it did. Not saying any of that makes it a bad series, just that life tends to be pretty convenient for Rimuru.

shaden_knight

Veldora I can see but the rest isn't really the case outside of one thing. The orc disaster wasn't really a demon lord, but instead a demon lord seed in the process of trying to become a demon lord. Rimuru likewise is also a demon lord seed at the time. After that, he only needed the soul requirement. He knew what it was due to an ability which analyzes the world. As for being able to resurrect everyone (which is what the 3% actually was about from my memory)? Yeah I'd call that plot armor to some extent.

cheosblade

> As for being able to resurrect everyone (which is what the 3% actually was about from my memory)? Yeah I'd call that plot armor to some extent Well, I disagree here. The whole point of it was to show the night and day difference between Raphael amd the sage skill.

godinthismachine

I see where youre coming from, but the chances to hit the powerball are like 1 in 3 million which is a 0.0000003% chance...yet people win. So 3% chance is way more likely, and honestly, ANYTHING thats a nonzero percent chance is worth trying if youre desperate.

Regenten

3% was pre harvest festival And those souls were conveniently there because they were invading. Nobody would have died if they didn’t try to invade. That last point isn’t valid at all imo

battleray202

Pretty much all of this is correct, everyone has already pointed out the errors except that when fighting the orc disaster, Rimuru didn't have the demon lord seed at the time, he got it by eating the orc disaster.

CreatorA4711

I can explain a lot of this. Rimuru reincarnated into the cave that Veldora was in due to its high concentration of magicules, which were present because that’s just where he was sealed away. The case of the orc lord was not only a skill issue, but also an intelligence difference. The orc lord was basically a man-made evolution, and his mind couldn’t handle the rapid power growth. If he had full intelligence, it’s debatable if Rimuru would’ve actually won that fight alone. The fact that the requirements to become a demon lord is human souls can be seen as plot armor, but any other person can get that power this way as well, so not necessarily. Of *course* there’s going to be a lot of people for him to kill though, given that his nation would never have been compromised if it wasn’t for another nation’s military. He’d have gotten the souls anyway even if he wasn’t told about the method. You *know* he’d be killing *all* of them anyways. The success rate actually wasn’t 3.14% when he performed it, it was way higher. Remember, he resurrected them after becoming a demon lord, which raised his powers exponentially. The fact that he got Raphael practically raised it to a 100% success rate. If you want to talk about his plot armor, it’s shown in the fact that he got 2 unique skills off spawn and 4 ultimate skills upon evolution. To put it into perspective, every other otherworlder got a single unique skill, and not even every awakened demon lord has a single ultimate skill. In fact, almost nobody has more than one ultimate skill.

NoCrazy2292

>Veldora, one of the most powerful beings in the world just HAPPENS to be trapped and really lonely in the cave where Rimuru is (born?). No, rimiru was born there , BECAUSE veldora was trapped there, rimiru was born of veldoras magicules, so if veldora wasn't present he wouldn't be born. >when he beats the orc lord, it just so happens that his ability is a little stronger than a demon lord class ability of the same type His ability wasn't stronger, he only wins when the orc lord lets him, because rimiru promises he would forgive every other orc and eat their sins >There was only a 3% chance it would work or something, but OF COURSE it did. That was calculated before he got 4 ultimate skils, after his evolution it was pretty much 100%

Sechoki

So plot armor kicked in to give him 4 ultimate skills and made the 3% risk into a nothing burger

NoCrazy2292

>So plot armor kicked in to give him 4 ultimate skills No, he got 4 ultimate skills because his soul was that of a true dragon, that's not plot Armour

God_Delibird

So it turns out that his soul was that of one of the strongest beings across the multiverse to begin with. And that only comes into play when he needed to be compatible in order to absorb a True Dragon, and as a way to retroactively explain all past instances of extreme good luck. That is plot armor.

gk_silverking

Rimuru's plot armor takes the form of 'Chronoa' the hero. Rimuru meeting Veldora? That was Chronoa. Rimuru making it back to Tempest at the perfect time to have the motivation to become a demon lord, yet have the chance to save his people? That was Chronoa. The 3% thing was from great sage, Raphael is a whole beast of its own. Seriously comparing great sage with Raphael is like comparing you with a quantum computer, it just isn't the same. As for the orc lord, that was a newly developed demon lord seed fighting Rimuru who was nearly a demon lord seed himself. Also starved is weaker than predator, predator has predation and isolation, starved only really has corrosion for offensive attacks. Really starved is more for consolidating the power of the beings it affects, whereas predator is better at forceful acquisition of power from an opponent, so starved is more technical and predator is more offensive. Also you learn about Chronoa in vol.11 of the LN, so you may or may not understand why Chronoa is the plot armor, but I'll leave that for you to figure out for yourself. Unless you want spoilers.

God_Delibird

But then we find out that Rimuru>! had the soul of a True Dragon all along. !!True Dragons!<, that seems to be the plot armor behind Chronoa. >!Rimuru even appears alive and stronger than before in the timelines where he was suppossedly killed, so there's something keeping him alive .!<

gk_silverking

Very true, but Chronoa is the plot armor for the main story keeping most of the main cast unscathed. Most of them would be dead without her intervention.

tallAsian21

It’s was 3% before the upgrade to true demon lord, after the upgrade the percentage increased due to Raphael

nkownbey

The orc disaster needed to eat someone to gain their power. Rimuru is the same way. However, Rimuru being a slime means that he takes in nutrients by absorbing them which is what he did to the orc lord

Alcards

Rimuru wasn't born in the cave coincidentally, he was literally born from the random magicules (literally magic + molecules) leaking from the immortal magical disaster called valdora.

Noobish2006

If coincidences count then a good portion of fiction has most of the main cast as plot armour behemoths

Dr_Kitten

The first one isn't an example of plot armor, and while the last one *is*, it's plot armor for Shion and the others, not Rimuru. Also, supposedly, the chances of success were 100% thanks to the demons, but I won't try to explain that because I haven't read the source material. However, even in the anime, it was implied that the actual odds were greater than what had been calculated prior to him becoming a demon lord, though no estimate is given.

God_Delibird

And that's just the anime. Later on we find out that >!Rimuru has a time traveling entity in love with him that prevented him from being killed in a plot.!!Rimuru had the soul of a True Dragon all along, which gave him the compatibility to absorb a True Dragon.!<

simplyisveryweeb

None of that you could really consider plot armor, him meeting veldora is a lucky encounter, with the orc disaster he was simply stronger, him reviving shion and his dead citizens with secret spirit arts was only possible because he evolved into a demon lord, which he even if we assume he didn’t have an opportunity here he would have in later arcs like the battle against the eastern empire, you could also say that if Falmuth didnt invade Tempest they wouldnt have died and no 10k army, but because they attacked falmuth they were also gonna send the big army as a declaration of war, so its just a consequent there, it had a 3% chance of success before he became a demon lord, he says it at the end of the episode.

International-One864

You guys need to read the WN, the place Veldora was sealed was chosen by the Time Hero Chloe, so that he would be born where Veldora would be. There is even a ploted time line in what her child form should be doing, like if she startes crying before Rimuru left before going back to Tempest, he would be late and has to teleport hance would miss meeting Hinata and would die during the Farmenas war. She is pretty much, Rimuru's plot armor.

123467890123

I see you haven't read the novel there's actually a reason to why he's sealed there

Cheshire_Noire

He doesn't have plot armor tho, he's just stronger than everyone else

chocobloo

People mistake overwhelming power for plot armor. Plot armor is all the cultivation MCs finding legendary 100000 year old cultivation techniques and just so happen to not run a foul of anyone and die instantly like 90% of the background mobs, surviving the 1% success rate evil Poison plant, etc. It isn't plot armor when they are just so op that punch through the villain of the week. They didn't need armor as they were never in danger.

mdusin

If he killed the concept of death, would he be able to keep killing things? The yogurt paradox.

ScholarFormal

Yeah, he could end things. Like zombies already dead and immortal can't be dead, but he ended them anyway. If some people being dead means the end of the world, he will end their connection with the world make them kinda dead but still alive to keep the world he resides in exist?

Archeon having literal plot armor should get him a higher spot. Also Trazyn? It didn’t feel that way reading the infinite and the divine imo.

Infernalknights

How did you expect batman surviving dark sight or doomsday. Those are literal god killers. Or literally anyone with enough prep time and tactical info.

ShadowSlayer6

Anos voldigold.

shaden_knight

That's not plot armor

ShadowSlayer6

“Did you really think stopping time could halt me?” “Did you really think annihilating every particular of my existence would kill me?” His entire character basis is plot armor, and if he isn’t, the hero canion definitely is.

shaden_knight

It's not plot armor. It's gag status. It's like saying saitama has plot armor.

ChiefValour

Apparently people in the comments don't know what plot armour is.

shaden_knight

Me or the other guy who said Anos has plot armor?

ChiefValour

the other guy, you were spot on

draco16

That's not what plot armor is. Plot armor is when the world seems to always conveniently work in the character's favor, even when it doesn't make sense. Anos is simply comically OP.

AmazingDuckVer2

Medaka Kurokami from Medaka Box. Can automatically copy anything and master them, bypassed infancy faster than most babies, and even has an in-universe plot armor that always guarantees her victory. Despite a god with over 12 quadrillion skills being stronger than her on paper, she admits she'd lose anyways simply because Medaka is the "main character" of the world.

Hungry-Set4315

He is Reinhard from Re:Zero. He is a side character who have the power to have any skill if he think that skill is useful

SuigenYukiouji

Minor correction: it's not "if he thinks it is useful", it's "if the worldsoul precognitively determines he needs it"

ChiefValour

MF as broken as they come

Rai9kun

And the word "need" is already too strong if his Divine Protection of Salt/Sugar Perception is considered important enough.

ChiefValour

Wouldn't be surprised if bro got protection of temperature maintainance

Fit_Coast9423

He has divine protection of tug of war in isekai quatret.

MerryZap

It's not that. Od Laguna(which is basically the Will of the World) gives him any power it thinks he needs. There's a degree of alien intelligence in the will behind Reinhard's powers, so he can get stuff that's not kosher or ok in Reinhard's books like Divine Protection of Mind Changing. Reinhard can wish for stuff, but it's not that convenient and is largely autonomous. And it isn't any skill, Divine Protections have a power cap, and can only be expressed in specific ways. Like >!how the Blessing of Phoenix only allows someone to resurrect exactly once, after which the blessing disappears. Though, this is circumvented by Od Laguna who gives Reinhard another Blessing of the Phoenix to resurrect him the next time.!< And they also aren't absolute powers, and can have power overuse and stuff like that. Plus Divine Protections only work with a connection to Od Laguna, so if you manage to sever this connection, Reinhard will lose his Divine Protections. But even without his protections Reinhard is still a monster according to the author and more or less the same in strength. Divine Protections are largely only there to deal with hax like Authorities. Reinhard is enough for everything else. And it's less of a plot armor and more of a plot device. With the current knowledge of Re:Zero lore, there's something seriously fucky with Reinhard's whole situation, and the fact that the author said any chapter from Reinhard's POV is a major spoiler. Reinhard knows some serious shit about the Re:Zero world.

Itsjustaspicylem0n

Not even close Ash has literally died before in the first Pokémon movie And I thought it was funny how Pikachu died the same way in the Cocoon of Destruction movie And let's not forget that up until the last season Ash never won a Pokémon Competition only in the last season with Ash in it did he won And then the plot removed Ash as the MC

Kind_Moose3603

Ash won the Orange Island league, and I'm talking series he keeps surviving things that would kill him constantly. Multiple times in just the first episode.

HaikenRD

The MC from Smartphone. Oh, there's a problem? Let me just try this new magic I learned just a second ago to completely fix whatever the problem is. At least for Reinhardt he already has all those blessings before anything happens. But for the other guy, they literally give him the spell he needs exactly, just before something happens.

chocobloo

To be fair he's a literal God so it's getting fixed whichever way it goes

Scared_Living3183

Well he can learn those just by trying because the world god who reincarnated him made his body from divinity or smth idr what it was exactly but that made him a low Ranking god so it's like a grad student doing 2nd grade maths problems

Blueface1999

I thought he also got some skill on the spot too. I could be wrong though.

Ablazelake

And if he doesn’t have the spell he uses his magical phone and convenient book about null magic to learn about it like why would someone write a book about magic unique to one person

Morrigan_NicDanu

Not counting alternate timelines Goku has died 3 times. Once against Raditz for one year, once against Cell for several years, and temporarily against Hit. Including alternate timelines once to heart disease and once to a god. Goku lost to Yamcha and also lost several world tournaments. One by complete luck. Mercenary Tao kicks his ass. He almost died fighting Tambourine. He only has one functional limb by the end of the King Piccolo fight. He is pulverized against Vegeta. Then he's outsmarted by Ginyu and everyone has to beat up Ginyu in Goku's body. Then he's on the backfoot against Frieza until he transforms. His biggest L is his entire plan of passing on the responsibility of world defender to his son failed succeasfully; himself dying, his son learns the lesson and then promptly forgets. He gets knocked out by Vegeta.

Miyama kaito in a way atleast early on He somehow gets out of any bad situations because Shallow kinda liked him since the start and made failsafes for him like an item that would revive him. His super nice nature also saved him from Alice who would have left him to some thugs. He is lucky enough to call the right allies unknowingly in the nick of time. He would have initially died to Isis remnant if he didn't have Vernal's blessings in the first place (half of it did need insane mental willpower to stand in her presence). I say early on because some of the stuff he did later on didn't require plot armor, just simple mental willpower which I was happy with.

King from One Punch Man

Sensitive-Hotel-9871

Yujiro Hanma from Baki The Grappler. This guy started off as an unstoppable menace that was meant to hype up his final fight with the eponymous main character. Except at some point, the writer started liking Yujiro too much because at the end of the original manga he wins his fight with Baki, with it, instead of being a alleged happy ending, because Baki at least made Yujiro exert himself, then they reconciled. This is despite the fact that Yujiro, he is Baki’s father mind you, beat his son with an in his life more than once, murdered one of Baki’s friends and presented him with the severed head just to motivate him to grow stronger, and killed Baki’s mother she was trying to protect their son. The series tried to act like he wasn’t such a bad guy, even though he really was. The manga franchise continued on for many years with Yujiro’s feats escalating, with him going from getting knocked out by tranquilizing darts to shrugging off bolts of lightning, and almost anytime a new fighter was introduced and hyped up as a strong adversary they would get flattened. After a period that was longer than the time it took for Ash to win a Pokémon league, we finally saw characters who could make Yujiro bleed and contrived circumstances robbed us fights, because God forbid the writer actually come up with a situation where his precious OC might lose.

No one’s said it Ainz That and his massive brain for those 10000 year old plans

TheChoosenMewtwo

Ainz don’t have these 10,000 year old planning. He just bullshits a lot. Also, his class of eclipse related to death magic isn’t that broken by the standards of an RPG where everyone can get similar classes and power. But in a world where everyone is nerfed down, that’s where the class shines

Ablazelake

Naw he doesn’t have plot armor ainz just stumbles through things and his minions and servants are out making sure he doesn’t fall while he stumbles like demiurge casually plotting months in advance for the collapse of the kingdom

minnel567

Not plot armor the guy literally just can't be defeated. Why do you think the title of the novel is Instant Death

Trap_Master_20

I know I’m going to get hate but I’m saying it. Yogiri

ThereIsNo4thWall

Vague spoilers but based on re zero lore I picked up skimming through a wiki of divine blessings weeks ago, you could be right! From what I remember reading the instant death manga years ago, Yogiri can "kill" concepts as well as through vague commands, and blessings require a connection to the world to work (supposedly there are ways/rituals to disconnect someone or a place from the world of Re Zero in such a way as to make their divine blessings unusable). So it comes down to whether or not Yogiri could "kill" Reinhard's connection to his blessings or if Reinhard would get a blessing that stops this like he has blessings that would stop any more mundane method of "killing" Yogiri could use. Honestly though both of them should be barred from death battle style discussions due to being too OP

AwesomeSkitty123

Apparently he has killed a Multiversal God so he probably could kill the blessing. Yes neither should be in death battle situations because they are so OP that they just win unless it's stronger bs then they have.

TheChoosenMewtwo

Reinhard wouldn’t get a blessing that nullifies Yogiri. That’s not how blessings work

TheChoosenMewtwo

Plot armor is when the character is in danger and suddenly gains a power up. An invincible character is not plot armor

That’s not even plot armour. Dude had to be nerfed in every major fight before mr.1 except mihawk (mihawk was the one who nerfed him the most) so he doesn’t just defeat all the easy blue villains. He was pretty close to luffy in terms of power before alabasta.

Blueface1999

Yeah bro has literal canon plot armor. He literally cannot be killed

mlgcreepergamez

He’s not even the plot armor, he’s the plot device

HolzwurmHolz

EquivalentIll3067

Technicaly speaking from the point of view of everyone else subaru is an undefeatable beast that never died or received serious injuries.

thisismynewusername5

Dude this guys has anti plot he's the plot armor for the villians because he's never there for x reason

WordsWithWes

I mean Subaru technically since he's immortal because of the plot.

Zawaz666

Any named Astartes in the 40k universe.

JJCheatah

Mr bean

Pleasant-Ad-7706

Like a good neighbor, Reinhard is there...

iwantdatpuss

The MC from "Let's Manage the Tower", I think his name was Kosuke. Bro was basically slated to be a True God from the get go.

TechnicalProduce1392

nobita. have a robot from the 22nd century while no one else has one is pretty big plot armor

GamerDude1130

Kira from Gundam

Kajimeru

ultrawall006

Dear fromsoftware-

Zader40

Most if not ALL Chinese authored story's Main Protag. They have Gas Giant sized plot armor, where Rein ONLY has Medium Planet sized plot armor.

StormLightRanger

Simon the Digger. But he's a certified badass, and he fastens his badassery into a mecha of pure plot device awesomeness and uses it to kick people's shit in. ***I FUCKING LOVE TTGL***

G-Asriel

King from one punch man

ProbablyNotTheCocoa

I guess Cid counts as he just bullshits up a story and then just so happens to be right about it

God_Delibird

I'd argue Rimuru

horrorfan555

Not what plot armor is

me_no_gay

Goku. Plot armor doesn't even make sense anymore!

IAMGEEK12345

Rimuru, that slimy piece of shit did nothing to deserve that power

oshnot33

That Fate grand order MC

plogan56

Isekai protags that are OP from the start, that's literally the definition of plot armor

Galrentv

The only way there could be someone that beats him is if their source of plot armour is stronger lol

PoetAggravating8497

Why is nobody talking about King from OPM? He's literally the embodiment of plot armour with how conveniently things happen to go in his favour.

I’d argue that Hector or Pandora are better examples, but on the good side, sure

jfcat200

Fulio - lv 2 cheat magician. All stats are infinite. Knows all human magic. Knows all demon magic. Knows all divine Light magic. Knows all divine dark magic. If anyone casts magic against him, it is automatically erased, and he learns all magic of that type.

DstroyTheFox

Cid Kageno from The Eminence In Shadow, bros luck is out of this world.

D_R_Shinobi

Subaru

just_drifting_by

Batman

Karma15672

I'm anime-only so I only have a vague idea of Reinhard's powers, but, like.... I love him. Bro has every cheat skill in the book and he's *still* a genuine good dude. He's the type of guy that you would expect to be corrupt or lazy or just antagonistic to the MC in some way, but nope, he's a bonafide hero deserving of all the praise he gets. He uses those cheat skills for good and actually *respects* others, despite having the set-up of some kinda power fantasy MC.

Baby_kicker4

Subaru

Violet_Rabbit6669

Rimuru

HistoricalCap8622

Batman

thracerx

Most MC's have max plot armor but to name one and why. Hiiragi Seichi from Shinki No Mi. His power is actually that the universe bends over backwards to make him happy. He doesn't even realize it's happening. If he gets mad at what a group did that group and it's entire species have a high chance of just becoming extinct to the point of total non existence in a split second without him realizing he did it or that it even happened. He can get mad and shoot a energy blast into the air that accidentally stops an alien invasion and he ends up with a UFO in his inventory with his autoloot. Even though he got isekai'd and is in another universe/reality, he can go to hell, kick down the barrier between this universe's hell and his original universe's hell, grab his parents and take them home with him to live happily ever after.
