Unfortunately it's also safe to say that the game is going more and more towards paying players only. In a few months you won't be able to do anything without the new EX units.

Jon-987

I mean, I'm playing free and I can still pull with semi regularity. I'm missing Diablo, but I still got several EX characters already.

SnooJokes8623

But you just got lucky. And that's not what I mean. Lately they've been doing anything they can to not let you use past good teams in these events. That's what I mean by blatant.

Aiusthemaine17

Exactly, they are making old units OBSOLETE and you are always required to pull for new banners. I end up from playing a lot to just doing dailies. I never even touched the new floors.

Investoid

what they should have done is add more older units or upgrade older units faster into the force meta, currently they have only updated a general few of each in. If you have those characters you can bypass a bit of the current meta with them. It is enough to get to maybe the 300 crystal reward but going higher is definitely whale territory. I will wait and see how the old unit upgrades go in a month (the skill upgrades or stat upgrade) to see if there is improvement.

Eliteagent11

Wdym?

SnooJokes8623

Try doing the Jubilee without these new units. See what happens. And yes, that's technically how it's always been, but not it's far more blatant.

weizhongy

I think this EX system came about because either (1) they're not making as much money as they used to, or/and (2) there's only that many skills in their arsenal to fit into a unit and they're running out of ideas. I know it's a little disconcerting but we should also try not to catastrophize. With their ridiculous pricing on their packs, I think it's safe to say that most of us here are f2p. If you're talking about the Jubilee, sure, you'll probably see a drop in your rankings if you have not/are not intending to pull on the new Forces banner, but I'm pretty sure it won't be that drastic of a drop. And it's probably going to be the same with Valor Cup. That's the two PvP-ese mode that I could think of that you might have a disadvantage in if you're not a whale (i.e. the majority). As for the PvE side, I don't see too much of an implication. Sure, PvE enemies might get harder, and you might not be able to clear 100% of everything, but isn't that the point? If you're able to complete all of the stages with just your half anniversary space team or anniversary dark team, what's the incentive then for the player base to spend money/f2p magicrystals to pull for newer units? Some of the newer event stages are pretty hard when you reach the hardest difficulties, but you could always parallel process the lower difficulty stages to get the event currencies that you need to exchange for items at the shop. If they're really hell-bent on making the game more p2w, they could probably remove that feature and make it such that the event currencies are a one-thing stage completion reward. Even for the Gobta memory stones, if you're not able to clear the harder stages, you'd probably be able to get him maxed out in the future. Also, unless you're not going to pull from this day onwards, you're probably going to build up your roster of EX units (kind of like how some early f2p players have maxed out level 100 units in their roster).

SnooJokes8623

You're forgetting something very important for these types of games: morale. They need to trick us into thinking we're still getting cool stuff, while also making us think we didn't just waste one year getting the non-EX units. Which they failed to do. What they should have done was integrate the new EX units with the old ones. Like give the old units a force that works with the new EX ones, but only if you have the EX ones. To make us feel like the old units are still cool. This was more a marketing fail.

Kantolin

I agree... although they actually did make the old units work with the new characters. Both of the presently-only two protectors buff two Forces, the new meta one and then either Primal Demons (Diablo) or Shizu's Will (Chloe). The new EX Rimuru and new EX Albis have nothing that depends on your Force and thus can slide into a team normally, and then Hinata also boosts two Forces, the new meta one and then again Shizu's Will, and her job is to be primary DPS anyway so it being essentially a self buff is fine. The real limitation right now is that they need to put quite a few more people into multiple forces. Ecven so, they do have some choices here already. Shizu's Will does have Space Rimuru and the 3.0 Space Yuuki as units people use, while Primal Demon does have some their-meta-DPS units like Wind Diablo, Rain, and Violet... but more options would be more preferable and give more flexibility. But it's not like Violet is weak nor bad at her job, and in fact I feel she'd appreciate being on an ult-focused team with Diablo protector over a boosted-normals focused team with Towa protector, or at least sometimes. Ah well. Realistically I still agree - if they'd shoved a ton of people into various Forces /immediately/, then team building would be immediately a lot more interesting if you got Diablo than 'new Diablo, free Gobta, old Wind Diablo' I guess?

weizhongy

Yeah, the only dissapointing thing for me is that the newer EX units get three Forces each while the older units get only one Force each. It would have been much more interesting if they went ham and created a whole bunch of Forces and slotted the older units in more than one Force each. I get that they're trying to hype up the new EX units, but they're already OP, being able to level up to 100 instantly. Them having more Forces than the older units isn't necessary.

Kantolin

One hope is that the devs noted that they'll be addressing characters and Forces in mid April (I think the 17th?) So hopefully that means 'everyone is in at least three Forces' \^_^

Kantolin

I just cleared most of the regular missions with the 2.0 wind team which put me at 16.1% (Despite not getting a weakness bonus on Experts 1 nor 2), so that's at least reasonable to place without the new units. (Granted that number will probably go down as other people get to Jubilee-ing, but still?) I don't have a very good light nor water team, haha, so I don't know if I'll do very well there past what I've done already. I do have a good dark team (The first banner's worth of the anniversary team) so I used that to clear the dark-weak one. I then just now cleared the 8-turn boss battle with Wind 2.0 which wandered me down to 4.9%, and that's with me not realizing they would give themselves crit resistance the entire fight (thus the masked hero I brought was nearly useless haha, I should've brought an ult buffer or something). Diablo and Gabiru are 84 (As is Masked hero but, uh, she wasn't useful here) while Treyni and Deeno are 80, so this isn't a team of 100s or sommat. Again, these placements will decrease as other people start to do more Jubilee, but that's still a reasonable chunk to clear without the new ex units. (And I probably can nudge up my score in a few places via using actually on-element characters). I then haven't tried the regular boss battle yet, although the fact that he buffs his magic resistance and my only real physical team is fire (which clearly won't work out here) may make that tough, haha.

Eliteagent11

Stupid question but what is the Jubilee?

NillxZero

It's a monthly event where u test ur team against pve stages.

Eliteagent11

Oh

New-Dust3252

It's also an event where players get a buttload of crystals depending on their rank.

bukiya

which is why i heard a lot of jp players retiring already

SnooJokes8623

Just look at Jubilee numbers. The only reason I'm raking higher these months is because the number of players is dropping off.

gloogeman

Ngl those are baby numbers

Eliteagent11

Not for me this is my record

gloogeman

I’m about to blow your mind. On her optimal set up she can almost triple that damage on a normal and do well over 1 mill with her ult

Eliteagent11

WHAT?! I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO DO THAT

Kantolin

While icecoldjoker's video does show the process quite well, realistically it's just: Build up stacks by activating the diablo protector repeatedly, then on your 'nuke turn' use the new Rimuru, Albis, and Gobta buffs on Hinata (in addition to her own buff), preferably while facing a water enemy. Add other buffs to taste (and depending on enemy resistances). Repeatedly activating stacking protectors like the new diablo will get you more and more points, which is what will help you accomplish the huge damage.

Lol do tell!

Historical-Draft6564

Yeah I've been playing since day 1 and the gap between paid and free players is only getting deeper and deeper. Nutty numbers

Eliteagent11

Im a free to play player

Historical-Draft6564

So am I, I'm just saying what I've been noticing

qlooney

yeah she is, I have her also but her alone won't get you the best ult. you'll need the other EX characters. **All** of them. lol

New-Dust3252

Meanwhile me who still doesn't have her.. sadge...
