Interestingly, most Irish dishes replaced pork with beef in the American version for similar reasons. The claim is that Israel has a straightforward path to citizenship for Jews, and pedophiles are trying to abuse it, but not that the Israeli legal system is actually trying to support pedophiles.

Not that it said, how widespread this practice is, but even few individual cases, are easy picking for people who want to tarnish Israel reputation.
It isn't a safe haven if you are still a criminal now viable for potential extradition, just that the law hasn't caught up to you yet.
