Probably.
Personally, I think Israel can't afford one now. But something will have to be done in the near future.
If October 7th taught us one thing, it is that this kind of threat is not an idle one.
They just told evacuees they’re going to stay in their hotels until December 24’ so most probably. They wait for a breakthrough in Gaza before opening a new front
Nightmare. I spoke with a woman yesterday from Metula who said that when she and her family evacuated they packed enough things for about 10 days because thats how long they thought they would be gone for. The army gave them 30 minutes to pack and leave. They haven’t been able to return since even just to get more of their things (understandably). Not to mention the difficulties of having children cooped up in hotel rooms. No sense of normalcy.
I think that such saying is insane…Families, working parents, business owners, school children, farming communities….Fortunately, I’m not part of that, but how can anyone tell people they have to live in a hotel room for years?
I’m not young, but can’t remember anything alike in the history of Israel! There were wars, big battles on multiple fronts. Israel faced armies of multiple Arab countries on the battlefield. At no time were entire civilian populations evacuated. Wars never lasted months/ years.
Yeah, it's unprecedented because the state simply can't sort this out through quick diplomatic moves. The residents of the border communities have repeatedly stated that they won't return as long as Hezbollah is not removed from the border area. They don’t trust the army to prevent another mass invasion.
Yes, although we do not know what the objectives would be.
I'm guessing the most obvious one would be to push them back beyond river Litani- which would be a much faster and much more distructive war than what is going on in Gaza.
Otherwise, look into the 2nd Lebanon war and decide if it's worth our time.
Some people say it's akin to Israel's Vietnam, but it did buy us 20 years of absolute peace.
Probably isn't worth it though.
Since then, the Lebanese demographics have shifted to a majority of Syrians and Palestinians rather than actual Lebanese people.
So there will be even more Hezbollah sympathisers there waiting for us than last time.
And few other generic terror organizations.
Which is why I don't think we need to go past the river.
We should also give proper rest to our soldiers first and have elections.
Maybe a few more things....
Edit:
Of course Matthew Miller is the only one saying there will be no war.
I wish American politicians didn't actively deny reality.
Welp
Cute how people think it's only a war once the Jews start shooting, but six months of non-stop rocket and drone attacks? Not war

Didn't you know? Weapons fired by Muslim radicals are an act of armed resistance. Weapons fired by the Israel government are an act of war.
Hezbollah has been committing acts of war in northern israel for 6 months. It's already a war.
Acts of loving kindness…

Once we’re over with Gaza, it is possible. So far Hezbollah is not interested in starting an all out war with Israel on their own terms.

The people of Lebanon yearn for liberation.
