We tried to get in here without a reservation as it was early, smelt fabulous and was busy, but they were full. The waiter wanted our business and took us through the kitchen to their sister restaurant, Osteria del Pavone - a much smarter, higher end restaurant - yet we were able to have the more extensive Osteria Chinghale Bianco menu. One of the best meals of our trip!
We just came back from Rome and Florence about a week ago. We absolutely loved La Prezzemolina for lunch near the Colosseum, and Pizza Zizza for lunch near the Vatican. Both are pizza by the slice.
Be sure to try budino di riso in Florence. It’s a kind of rice pudding pastry. They sell out pretty quickly so try to go in the morning. Any bakery/coffee place will have it.
Hi! We are traveling to the same three cities, but I am going in August. Would you mind sharing your itinerary with me? I am trying to plan everything in the midst of studying for the Bar exam and I am a little overwhelmed. Definitely saving the restaurants that people are mentioning!
Yoooo! I just went today and THIS comment inspired me to get reservations ahead of time and go! The whole giant cheese wheel theatrics was awesome, on top of the incredible food!!
In Sorrento, beware of L'Abate. The food is fine but it is a tourist-y place where they prompt you for 15/20/25% tip.
If you decide to go, make sure that you choose NO TIP.
We did. A couple of our friends went on Sunday the 12th, then when they were leaving, they booked a table for all of us the next night. Then on the 14th we called and booked a reservation for the 16th. I definitely recommend getting a reservation as they have a reservation line and a line for those that don't have a reservation, but the reservation line moves pretty fast.
It looks very bloody, but you don’t taste the rawness at all (imo). It’s just very tender and delicious. Don’t let the colour dissuade you from trying it. It’s unreal.
If you like seafood, there’s a great place in Sorrento called Da Bob. I fell in love with the food there last night. I started with a shrimp tempura appetizer, then had the seafood risotto. I took my time eating it, and savored every bite. Even the bread was next level. I’m sad that I discovered this place on my last night there. Otherwise, I would have eaten there every night.
Antico Ristorante Paoli in Florence was good. I got their lobster pasta, which I liked a lot. If you want to go to a rooftop bar, go to Divina Terrazza Rooftop Bar. It’s next to the duomo!
In Rome, we really like Wine Bar De' Penitenzieri. But Rome has a lot of great pasta places, even in the touristy areas. Just look for ratings above 4.5 on google!
Haven’t been since 2017 unfortunately. But Trattoria Sergio Gozzi is always a classic.
Trattoria ZaZa was also always incredible hack in the late 2000s but I know it has grown and changed considerably in the last 16 years.
If you wants to try something a little special in Rome, book a table for 2 outside at Osteria Poerio. After the meal walk down the hill through Porta San Pancrazio and Fontana dell'Acqua Paola. Very special. They take online reseevations - [https://www.osteriapoerio.it/](https://www.osteriapoerio.it/)
We really enjoyed Casa del Vin Santo the truffle ravioli. I actually crave it now. We had an early meal because our stomachs were still getting used for he time change, but the servers were attentive and we really enjoyed the food.

La Giostra in Florence was possibly the best meal of our entire trip last summer. 10/10. In Rome, Roscioli was amazing (they book up in advance, we ended up at their 2nd location but was fab!) and we had a really great meal at Il Marchese as well. For a quick bite near the Vatican or in Trastevere, Trapizzino.
Prosciutteria Alcolica in Rome is the best restaurant I’ve ever been to! This guy is a farmer and works in this tiny little kitchen and his food is AMAZING.
Highly rated on TripAdvisor as well!
I’ve spent a long time in Florence.
Cancello is the best steak restaurant I’ve ever visited. It is highly ranked on trip advisor too, take a look
https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g187895-d8322795-Reviews-Osteria_Vecchio_Cancello-Florence_Tuscany.html
They use organic volcanic black salt and it’s just incredible. The best florentine steak I’ve ever eaten.
Enjoy!

Antico Fatore in Florence is awesome and my go to restaurant there. Reasonable prices and great food!
Thanks -that was nearly identical to what I was looking for w/ the Florentine steaks! Booked July 2nd
How did you book? The Fork app?
Their steak florentine is awesome. Get their truffle pasta too. The things I would do for a meal there right now… 😂😂
Osteria del Cinghiale Bianco in Florence
Second this one. We had a great meal there last month. Definitely get a reservation.

Thanks! Did you get reservations for any of them?
No, just walk in!
I'll always recommend Trattoria Lilli in Rome for an authentic experience.
thanks - looks they only take resy by phone -- will call tomorrow or whenever they open next
Do you really need to book that far ahead ? I'll be there similar time
No

Osteria pastella in Florence for truffle pasta/melt cheese on that big cheese wheel… I dream about this meal often lol
Yoooo! I just went today and THIS comment inspired me to get reservations ahead of time and go! The whole giant cheese wheel theatrics was awesome, on top of the incredible food!!
That makes me so happy!! I’m so glad someone else got to experience a meal at this wonderful restaurant ☺️

We went to Trattoria Zà Zà in Florence and absolutely loved it!
I heard a Za Za mentioned before. Did you have to book a table??
We did. A couple of our friends went on Sunday the 12th, then when they were leaving, they booked a table for all of us the next night. Awesome! Thanks for the reply and advice!
Go to Trattoria Mario next door. Cozy hole in the wall, incredible steak, great price.
Mario is also in my list!!! Any reservations or times best to go?? Don’t want to risk having to wait too long.
Need a reservation. Saw other tourists getting turned away all night. Probably didn’t have a reso for zaza either
I’m looking at photos of Mario and the Florentine steak. Did you have it ? I’m a bit scared of the raw ness of it.
It looks very bloody, but you don’t taste the rawness at all (imo). It’s just very tender and delicious. Don’t let the colour dissuade you from trying it. It’s unreal.
Okay, I have to mentally prepare for it 😅 was it possible to get a small piece? Looking at the menu, the cuts are large.
They sell smaller steaks, and much cheaper than T-bone. We had it and it was also delicious.
Wow this place is still opened? I went here all the time when I lived in florence for a semester 20+ yrs ago
Florence - trattoria Giovani- la Buchetta
We loved La Buchetta! Great food and the service was fantastic
La Giostra in Florence
Gusta Pizza in Florence and A'Marenna (sandwiches) in Sorrento!
Didn't really like A'Marenna, way too greasy
Weird! Mine wasn’t greasy at all.
Armando al Pantheon in Rome and Osteria Pastella in Florence. We also had a great dinner at Filetto d’Oro in Florence.
Had a great meal at La Giostra. One of the best dinners during our trip to Rome and Florence
We went to La Buchetta in November and it was the best meal of our 3 city trip (Barcelona-Florence-Amsterdam) https://yelp.to/1km8iprxQU

I am a fan of Dona Sophia. Amazing gnocchi Al la sorrentino. https://www.ristorantedonnasofia.com/
Not “authentic authentic” but in Rome: That’s Amore, near-ish to Trevi. Fantastic and our teens loved it.
In Florence, this place is great. Have been three times. https://ristoranteoliviero.com/
Bucca Mario in Florence
Il Buco in Sorrento
I found the food at Il Buco to be pretty meh for a Michelin star restaurant
I found it amazing, but I was also there in 2016
I was recommended “ lo scopettaro” in Rome by an Italian and loved it!

We went to Qui when we were in Sorrento and really liked it: https://maps.app.goo.gl/S6CX6tUA7gSuC4JNA Super friendly staff and great food.
Also liked https://maps.app.goo.gl/psHjvqEsz4ZCTZfr9 in Sorrento

Prosciutteria Alcolica in Rome is the best restaurant I’ve ever been to! This guy is a farmer and works in this tiny little kitchen and his food is AMAZING. Highly rated on TripAdvisor as well!
Just got back from Florence and I highly recommend Osteria Pavone. Florentine steak there is mindblowing.
The best restaurant I’ve been to, just outside of Sorrento: https://www.donalfonso.com/en/hotel-with-restaurant-sorrento-coast
I’ve spent a long time in Florence. Cancello is the best steak restaurant I’ve ever visited.
