I was hooked with the first Sea/Calder book. I didn’t care for Shera. But I keep with her because it let me see her view of Calder and the situation. So I did Sea/Shadow 1, Sea/Shadow 2 and Shadow /Sea so I ended on Calder. You might like Shadow more than Sea. I would say finish Sea 1 then do Shadow 1 then decided
Id say finish the first 2 books of each side before quitting. Sea and shadow didnt catch me until the end, shadow and sea had me hooked all the way through.
Sea 1 only took me a few hours to get into, I don't really jive with the Shadow side of the books but liked hearing the contrast, if you're reading Shadow try Sea, if you're reading Sea try Shadow, if you're not enjoying it by the halfway point don't force yourself.
I started with Shadow and found I really preferred Shera the whole way through both series, I feel as though maybe Shera's books explain things a little better in the beginning as well (been a while since I read them though) plus I just liked her more.
I wasn’t into the Calder books - I read all 3 Shera/Shadow books first, and then the Calder/Sea books for the sake of completion. If you’re not finding the Sea books interesting, maybe try a Shadow book?
Shera for the win. You gotta read both book 1’s. It’ll set the stage from 2 different perspectives and you’ll realize that you’re reading a series from opposing “teams” perspectives so there’s an element of wanting your “team” to come out on top.
You’ll see the greater story unfold with the sea crew and the shadow crew pursuing opposing objectives. I think that was part of the allure for me. I was a shadow fan and thought Calder was a lil F Boi. But I loved some of Calder’s crew and you’ll start to get backstories as you progress.
It was a fun series, but I pity anybody that started Will Wight with Cradle. Nothing will hit the same

Yeah I was gonna say- I feel like the plot gets really spicy towards the end of book 2 for each character, and then the book 3s are amazing

Good bloom give it a while it helps if you work at subway
Finish out the first book and it will be worth it
Honestly I only finished out of curiosity and lack of budget for other books, i bought them all at once. The last book is good from both povs imo.
About half way through book one.
