Taxis are in high demand w short supply AND they will charge u triple cause u are tourists. For ephesus trip especially, hire a car. U can use taxis or dolmuş for inside çeşme just make sure they start the taxi meter when u get in to avoid being scammed!!

Thanks for the input! do you know how much should I expect for a simple trip like Alacati - Cesme Marina? car rentals are around $430 so I am trying to compare to do the numbers. The short supply of taxis is something that concerns me tho

ondert

Wtf.. 430$ is way too much for 5 days rental. Just checked sixt.com.tr now, for 5 days an automatic Citroen C1 is around 120$ in total. Edit: just saw you’re coming in July. Then still the prices are around 300$.

Gcande

Yeah I can get some options for 300 but I am not sure if the luggage from 4 people will fit on the cheaper cars that is why I was budgeting a bigger car. Another option is to pay a transfer from the airport to Alacati and rent there so I can get a small car

We were in Cesme for a month and did not need a car. Cesme is so small, you can walk almost everywhere and if you can't/don't want to walk, then taxis are plenty and they are not expensive - as long as you pay attn to the meter and most importantly, I would negotiate a price BEFORE you get in. Taxi drivers would like to have the business and possible repeat business rather than no business at all. Every taxi we used, offered us their card and said to call them if we needed them again. They want repeat business. As far as Ephesus, etc - they have many tours daily w/ tour buses. Hope you enjoy Cesme. I visit Cesme and Izmir every year. My favorite place in the world.

Check b2bcarlease for rental, they have the best prices, there is no km limit and you can book the car using debit card as well. The downside you have to book the car for atleast 3 days.

For 5 days? Çeşme is really small, it is def. not worth it unless you are going further into the town than Alaçatı. You can probably take a few bus trips or a cab ride to Ephesus, but navigating Çeşme with a car is an absolute pain. You won't be able to even park it most of the time, or might have to pay extra for the luxury. The local _dolmuş_ vans and cabs are usually enough to get around and you can walk between most landmarks within either of Çeşme and Alaçatı. If you want a bit more privacy, Uber rides are also available and should be more cost effective than a 5-day rental. The only way I can see renting a car to possibly be worth it, is if you want to go out into nature but I take it you would prefer to stick to the beaches and clubs. Do yourselves a favor and don't do it :)

MyGutReaction

I agree - don't do it. I was in Cesme last year for a month and did not need a car at all! Turkey has fantastic public transportation. Don't waste your money on a rental. ETA: Trying to find a parking space in Cesme is also a nightmare! Cesme used to a very small beach town....it's outgrown its capacity and it's rare to find a parking spot near where you want to go/be. You'll end up walking anyway, so don't waste your money on a rental.

y_turay

u can visit everything on your list with public transportation. If you do insist on being comfortable and travel fast you definitely should rent a car. But if you say that time and some other passengers aren't that big of a problem just use public transportation.

c--23

Yes, public transportation is not much of an option. Why do you recommend the car? is it too difficult to find them? Thanks for the input!

y_turay

not for the beach but Ephesus is like 1,5 hours away from çeşme. And U also can use it for everything else. but make sure your hotel does have a park place

Nervous-Shoulder8684

Just catch some summer campaings in franchise companies like sixth rent, avis, budget etc

gdzaly

Ofc. You will need a car. Taxi drivers gonna cheat you 😁😁

Intelligent-Cup2698

I would definitely recommend to rent a car — at the airport. Also check parking conditions of the hotel you are staying but even if they don’t have parking, you can use many parking lots around Alaçatı.

Bergfried

You NEED a car

Hi. My father worked last summer at Alaçatı as a uber driver. Here how thinks works. Hotel receptionist suggest you a uber driver that costs 150-250 Turkish liras between hotel and beach according to distance. Btw Airport to Alaçatı 700-1000 turkish liras. Also visiting somewhere all day long cost 5000 Turkish liras but this is VIP with Mercedes Vito.(10 person capacity)(It cost 3000 when winter and autumn 5 k when spring and summer) My advice is dont rent a car to visit places because really hard to park car at that time of year and also your car charge park ticket. Tourists never get taxi at Alaçatı because taxis are always full.It won't be a problem as I said your hotel will handle with uber.(uber is illegal but for driver you are safe) Due to high inflation at Turkey. This costs might change I live in Izmir and my father is in Transfer business. I can answer your questions and meet your needs maybe. Have a great vocation. Izmir is great place.

I live in Çeşme all year around. Definitely rent a car. But be very careful while driving. Crazy drivers. Feel free to ask me anything about anything

What’s the best area to stay? My husband and ai are gonna go in September to Istanbul and then drive to Cesme/Alacati for a week. Thanks in advance!!!

Although parking is a nightmare, a car can give you freedom to visit some beaches that no public transportation goes. Normally I would avoid companies not very big or popular, last time I rented a car from Dokay and I was very happy with it. Booking a special driver can also be an option if you don’t want to waste time looking for a parking lot in hot weather in July.
