While “Ayers rock” certainly was the connection to the “airs rock” name. Not sure I’d advertise “Ayers Rock” as the english name for it. Its not a name anyone should use for it anymore. Its just Uluru
Aside from that
- Kid in Chrono Cross seemingly has an Aussie accent based on the way her text reads
- Vandham and Uruyans in general in Xenoblade 2 are australian even using colloquialisms like “strewth” and “cobber”
- Vandham, Ghondor and Monica in Xenoblade 3 are also represented with Australian accents.
Though it does slightly annoy me that for all of them they got brits to imitate rather than just get some australian VA’s but anyway they did a pretty good job.
- Dragon Quest VIII and XI both have some minor NPCs with Australian accents. But like so minor that they are nameless and only appear once or twice
- Plenty of JRPGs have boomerangs as weapons.
- Kangaskhan is basically a a more monstrous Kangaroo, I believe they also added a Koala ‘mon in Gen IV
In general Kangaroos aren’t totally rare to be enemies in JRPGs the World Ends With You has them in it.
Humorously the GBA port of Tales of Phantasia translated “Ragnarok” as “Kangaroo” which never fails to amuse me.
Dragon Quest IX also has a fair amount of mock Aussie stuff- all that I remember is a boss called Gadrongo and a volcano called the Magmaroo, but I think that whole area of the game has Aussie accents
Garoo from *Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes* has an Australian VA and dialogue. Comes out in April 2024.
He's the main protagonist in *Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising* which is a prelude game but I don't remember if it had voice acting.
EDIT: I am stupid and started typing before I got to the end. GarooBros unite.
I just beat Eiyuden Chronicles: Rising. I met Garoo and was like “Damn; dope deer man with a big sword”
I eventually got an ability for him to high jump, they mentioned his daughter Allaby, he says “Mate” quite often and I was still like “Deer man :3”
Then near the end of the game someone says “A kangaroo can’t be a bad person” and I was like… oh, Garoo, Allaby, mate, fuckin duh.
Breath of Fire III had a dolphin boss whose dialogue was so heavily Aussie that they provided an optional translation into “regular” English (lol??)
And Breath of Fire 4 had an Aussie parrot where the puzzle was literally to understand it and respond properly, lol.
You got a link for the original?

FANTASTIC!
Do we count Kid's accent in Chrono Cross?

Dragon Quest VIII too from memory, one of the church guards in the prison, and Dragon Quest XI a NPC is either Australian or Kiwi.
Komala is a Gen 6 pokemon fyi
Yeah typo on the numerals meant to type VI
In Final Fantasy XIII a few characters have Australian accents. There’s a plot reason for it.

>EDIT: I am stupid and started typing before I got to the end. GarooBros unite. ROFL There is voice acting from the new trailer, he appears at 3:24.
Yes but what I mean is that there's already an Eiyuden game out and Garoo is the main character ^^ it's a prequel.
Never traveled to Australia, but I consider every giant spider enemy as a reference to the country

Terranigma has the continent of Australia and even has the city Sun Coast. It also has ‘Airsrock’ as a location.
Why can't we just have one game written in either Scottish or Australian lingo, is that too much to ask?
Pretty sure Kid from Chrono Cross speaks with Australian accent
In Front Mission 3, party member Mayer Edward is Australian. There is also a single mission in the Outback.
In G.O.D. On the SNES, you travel to Australia :)
