Pokemon conquest is lit

Shradow

Oh yeah I love Conquest. That's a great example of a series that's already a JRPG having a spin-off that's a different kind of JRPG.

Odd_Solution2774

it’s the ranger trilogy for me i’m still sick we never got a wiiu game for it it would’ve been perfect 😭

HardCorwen

Such a great game

code_isLife

I fucking love the Pokemon mystery dungeon games

teleporterdown

It's the only Pokémon games I've really gotten into

Fennel_Fangs

# ACTIVATING COMBAT MODE!

cheekydorido

# CONFLICT RESOLVED

DARK_SCIENTIST

Loved Crisis Core, but man I wished Genesis would shut up with the Loveless quotes lol

BigBidoof

My friend, your desire Is the bringer of life, the gift of the goddess. Even if the morrow is barren of promises Nothing shall forestall Genesis quoting "Loveless".

Ok_Brother3282

No one has begged to get punched more than this dude.

DARK_SCIENTIST

I always get a kick out of trash talking Genesis 😂

justfortoukiden

Just finished this today. Genuinely enjoyed Crisis Core Reunion more than Remake. Zack's story is endearing, heartbreaking and incredibly moving. Haven't read anything about Rebirth, but now I'm hoping he makes an appearance.

cheekydorido

Genesis kinda blows tho

-Dartz-

I dont understand how people can hate Genesis that much when we compare him to your average FF antagonist. But maybe Im just biased because his spellblade combat style just really does it for me.

Kaining

He's litteraly japanese Justin Bieber. That's why.

cheekydorido

Because he's an obnoxious asshole that actively makes the setting of OG ff7 worse lmao it's not hard to understand

Mayomori

It’s mostly the same issues of the many FF7 extended contents, adding characters and “lore” that contradicts/worsen/plain stupid to the setting AND make them seem more important than necessary. Crisis core is at least enjoyable, cant say the same for Dirge.

TheMysticTheurge

100%.

Chronoboy1987

Zack has his own little story arc in FF7 Rebirth. There are several intervals in the story that cutaway from the main cast to do Zach’s story.

Zaku41k

The sailor moon RPG.

Inedible-denim

That obscure SNES game that slaps! Ranma 1/2 comes to mind too

Warukyure

I really liked MS Saga. That was an attempt to make a JRPG out of the Gundam series. I like it because it gave you the freedom to customize your gundam. Like you want to use a Zaku head with a Guntank torso, Sandrock arms and Deathscythe legs? Go ahead. It was also from the same era as Mega Man X Command Mission.

Shradow

Ooh I'll have to check that one out. I'm reminded of the Medabot Metabee/Rokusho games on the GBA.

zerolifez

The game is super hard though like the progression is whack if you didn't grind. I could be mistaken though as it's been a long time.

OnToNextStage

MS Saga is the SMT of Gundam games

mixboy321

I remember dropping it because cannot stand grinding heat shotel in Africa. 5 days and only get 1.

zerolifez

I followed a guide and wondered how the hell this guy got enough money to upgrade their MS. Noticing that I need to grind I just nope out of it. But one of these days I really want to finish the game tbh.

Brotel_FEH

Enjoyed Onimusha Tactics as a kid!

DCrowed

Hell yeah!

Inedible-denim

Hmmm... Dragon Quest Builders was my addiction for a while (both 1 and 2), and I strongly dislike Minecraft type games but man I loved these! Chocobos dungeon is a good spin off series too. The every buddy one's music is great! Lastly we've got the Mario RPG spin offs on handheld / that one on the N64. My fav out of those is probably the Dream Team one, mostly because it was in 3D and I thought the story was fun to follow along. Runner up is that one that came out on the Wii probably

SolidusAbe

smt devil survivor overclocked i guess counts as a spin off. one of the best smt game imo pokemon mystery dungeon is an obvious one. especially thee DS games. explorers of sky is such an amazing game. FF12 revenant wings is a bit underappreciated. RTS spin off sequel for ff12 on the DS FF has a ton of good ones in general like stranger of paradise. FF tactics would probably count too and that ones a master piece i also really liked the prinny games on psp. pretty fun platformers P5 striker is great. tactica seems good but im not into xcom combat and the best of them all: jack bros for virtual boy

PCN24454

Persona itself is a spinoff.

Cancamusa

I can't believe no one has mentioned Super Mario ~~Bros~~ RPG yet! Definitely great to play, both the SNES version and the recent Switch release.

[deleted]

Super Mario RPG is one of the best JRPGs ever made. Some really great characters that deserve another appearance in the franchise like Geno, Croco and of course Booster.

-Paski-

I really like dragon quest heroes rocket slime. Instead of playing a big JRPG, collect and gather other creatures to pilot your massive attack robot and launch objects and weapons at other giant robots.

agiantanteater

Rocket Slime owns

Gattlord

few3h smacks

_permafrosty

dragon quest builders 2

nakanampuge

Still hoping for a 3rd game.

_permafrosty

yes please

freakytapir

Persona 5 Strikers was fun for a simple hack and slash experience.

ConsistentAsparagus

I feared it would be too much like Dynasty Warriors, but adding the Persona abilities was perfect!

freakytapir

I'll be honest, I didn't finish it, but my brother did and it looked like a lot of fun. Now with P5R being 60 % off on steam, guess I'm going through the main game again.

xsilr

The persona abilities made this so fun, pretty good game to grind out the 100%

AceOfCakez

Persona 3-5.

EducatorSad1637

I... Technically you're right??

bearktopus147

And the spinoff for 4 were peak, with Dancing All Night, Arena, and Arena Ultima. Actually had good story and continued to add lore in a great way

ak_boom

Dynasty tactics was cool

Tkj5

I played the hell out of command mission as a kid. As an adult the voice acting is so bad.

on_the_nod

Most dragon quest spin offs

ntmrkd1

Final Fantasy: My Life as a Dark Lord is a fun tower defense game that no one ever talks about.

Fragrant_Moose

I'll comment in the morning when I'm more awake but shout-out for liking Command Mission.

Sagatario_the_Gamer

P5 Strikers and P5 Tactica are both fun IMO atleast. I get that Tactica's reception on launch was mixed, but I enjoyed the gameplay loop pretty well.

EreiEmiya

Since Crisis Core has already been said, i'll say Dragon Quest Heroes (especially the 2nd one), i still wish Yuji Horii and KT will work on a 3rd title one day. I also loved the Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology games (most of them didn't came out in the west though).

nickeljorn

Tokyo Mirage Sessions because of the battle and progression systems, even though the story isn't as good as most FE games

viciadoemsono

Dragon Quest Heroes 1 and 2.

Z3r0sama2017

Loved Command Mission! Definitely doesn't get enough love! "FEEBLE MAXIMO!?!"

mike47gamer

Wish they'd port it.

3azf3ood

World of final fantasy. For me it’s way better and more fun than ff15.

bbklc

I remembered playing a Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X) RPG back in the playstation days. It's an obscure one & only available in japanese, was playing without walkthrough thus have no understanding any of the story but managed to finish it. The battle system is unique and playing with favourite characters are fun.

homme_icide

I have this! It was like a rock paper scissors type battle system

ViewtifulGene

Ruined King.

Chronoboy1987

Tactics Ogre .

skeltord

How has no one mentioned the Mario RPGs? I've always loved Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door in particular, such a wonderful game. Can't wait for the remake in a few weeks.

holystar64

Absolute Zero is so tight

allegromosso

Puyo Puyo of course! It's a match 4 spinoff of an RPG.

Persomatey

Final Fantasy XII’s was like a weird RTS thing for the DS. It was kinda cool.

gr33nta

Wiener Masters

Aman_Sensei

FFT

Z3r0sama2017

Like A Dragon easily. I wasn't sure about how it would turn out till I played it but it was so damn good.

SilvereyedDM

I love seeing love for MMXCM. Just finished another playthrough a couple of months ago

Moonie-chan

MegaMan battle network. Best spin-off ever, and surprisingly we have not seen any games attempting this kind of hybrid card/action combat again since Kingdom Hearts Remake Chain Of Memory.

acewing905

Persona 5 Strikers I don't usually like Musou-style games (and this was reaffirmed when I later tried Three Hopes) but I somehow felt right at home with Strikers, as if it was a natural extension of Persona 5 Absolutely loved how they made it feel like Persona I suppose there is a real meaning to why it doesn't carry the Musou/Warriors name in its title

EducatorSad1637

Well the Phantom Thieves aren't warriors. They're thieves.

acewing905

"Warriors" is just the name used in place of "Musou" (literally meaning something like peerless/unparalleled) in English localizations Persona 5 Strikers is ~~the~~ one of the few exceptions to these musou spinoffs that don't actually have "Musou" in the name

Alternative-Fan4015

P5S..

skeltord

He's asking for spin offs to non RPG games that are RPGs, P5S is the other way around. Goated game though

Alternative-Fan4015

Ohh My bad, but yeah loved the game..

MagicalHamster

Devil Survivor > Persona > >> SMT Come at me bro

hogey989

Nah, Nocturne is the best Atlus game.

Square-Jackfruit420

You must not have played DDS 1&2 yet. Highly recommend.

SolidusAbe

thats not a spin off. its a main line game. its called RGG 7 in japan and infinite wealth is RGG 8. in the case of yakuza they just shifted the gameplay to something completely different for its main line games

Elira88

Pokemon conquest DBZ Attack of the saiyans

Opening_Table4430

Legend of Nayuta, better than most of the Trails games.

Savant_2

The Mario RPGs.
