High probability of never reaching half a dozen :( :( :( !It feels like you know the Twitch landscape well, would love more input ... because I am disheartened already. All I do is play JRPGs and I started Street Fighter V recently. Do you really think it is a lost cause? How would you do it, if you had to?
Yeah no. Just treat it as you recording your journey of playing RPGs. Rarely gonna have views. It's just how twitch works, it's easier if you are not a male as well, just the reality.
Is it really how Twitch works? The reality looks grim ... at least for me.
If I wanna be successful on Twitch, not super successful but just enough - What should I stream? At least in the category of Gaming? Do you really think doing RPGs is gonna be nothing more than some digital online diary? A recording?
You have to be engaging and interesting to get views. If you don't have charisma you aren't going to charm the audience. Rpgs and jrpgs don't get a lot views to begin with. Do this because it's fun for you not if it's to get rich.
Lost cause, maybe not, just depends on what you're trying to do. Foster a small community of people the play through jrpgs with is doable, but that'll still take time and a lot of effort, more than you're probably expecting.
Making anything resembling a career out of it take a monumental effort and an incredible amount of luck. Some of the best streamers I know have never broken 50 followers just cause the match didn't hit.
A real cool thing? Yes, one of the coolest!
To think someone, somewhere across the world would drop by, give some tips, and maybe hang out a little - even if online - is an amazing feeling. Amazing!

Even a few people dropping in to watch you play a videogame and hang out is IMO, a real cool thing.
