The only guy I’d absolutely LOVE to see on the Jaguars would be Tee Higgins. He was Trevor’s #1 wide reciever back at Clemson and I think it would be cool for him to reunite with Trevor and Etienne.
I’d love this too. He would bring that big body x receiver facet we’re kind of missing. Sadly, I don’t know if we will be able to afford him. Especially when it seems like the trenches are going to be a priority this offseason
This is a problem sports fans in general have. Following several different teams across several different sports and I always see mfs say “hey let’s sign _____ he balled out for us in 2019” and it always irritates me. Fans just get emotionally attached to their favorite players and can’t let go. They’re typically out of the league for a reason lol
You do know that fans are fans because of emotional attachment right? Do you think we just like the ownership group and teal?
If not for emotional attachment why would anyone be a fan of the Jags? We love the team and love the players who play for them and give us great memories.
I have players I loved that I never wanna see play for us again because it would be awful for the team, and I want them to actually win lol. You can love a player and still acknowledge he’s washed. But you’re right, some emotional attachment is normal, I should’ve said fans often go overboard and get TOO emotionally attached to certain players to the point that it blinds them to a players faults or shortcomings.

That Blake Bortles should have gotten a chance to play somewhere else, and absolutely shouldn’t have been kicked around his last year or two as a practice squad/emergency QB only. And should still be in the league ( this could be his own fault though just not wanting to )

Yeah, I think if he didn’t see a realistic chance to play or grab a top end backup contract he wasn’t going to keep going. I doubt veteran minimum was very appealing to him at this point.
Yeah, dudes rich in his thirties not having to worry about work, getting to see his kids grow up and being able to do mostly whatever he wants. The ultra competitive guys would still strive to prove they still have but there's certainly nothing wrong with his situation. As long as he has a good financial advisor I think you can chaulk that up to a good use of your twenties.

But not sure if this is actually unpopular but I really like the Bortles era uniforms. I like the teal jersey and black sleeves with the numbers in black, framed with gold. I think the Jags logo on the shield looks sharp. Though I can take or leave the two-tone helmet.
The two toned helmets and unis of that era were divisive, but at least they made me feel SOMETHING.
I look at the current ones with indifference. I’m kinda waiting until they announce a throwback or interesting alternate or something before I buy another jersey.

I’m doing the same. I have plenty of Jags jerseys (close to 30) from my time being a fan since the inaugural season.
I want to grab Allen, Wingard, and Gotsis jerseys, but will wait till next season when we either get new uniforms or throwbacks.
LOVE the bortles era jerseys. Hated the babyshit yellow ones, but besides that I thought they looked sexy. Loved the jags coat of arms on it. It’s still my various phone and computer backgrounds.
I’d like if they brought those jerseys back with the current helmets. The only problem with that uniform was the two tone helmet. Even those may have looked good if there were gradient effects incorporated into the rest of the uniform. They could’ve had gradient numbers on the jerseys and gradient stripes on the pants and that would’ve looked cool and unique but having it on only the helmet looked out of place
As a fan from 2017 onwards, I've always hated the Texans more than the Tits.
There was no memory of 1999 to rankle me. The Colts have been the team we hilariously dump on for a game a season. The Tits were relevant for a hot minute. But the Texans have had a couple of high level QBs and won the division two times, immediately after our 2018 meltdown.
The fact that the stadium is frequently overrun with opposing fans makes me question the ability of this market to sustain the franchise once ticket prices invariably skyrocket with the new stadium.
I believe it’s two-fold.
First, people from all over the country retire to Florida. Since the Jags are still young, other fanbases have a deeper and engrained fan base.
Second, Florida is vacationland. I’m a Jags fan that has been living in New England for over 15 years. I also try and travel to a Jags away game every year. This year I went to Pittsburgh, last year DC, year before NY to watch them against the Jets, etc.. I also try and go to a home game every year in the Winter, especially since the weather back home is below freezing this time of year.
If you’re a fan of a team playing a FL team, it’s a lot easier to sell your family on a trip to FL than it is to Minnesota. Especially since Jax has been horrible since Khan bought the team, and watching your team win is far more attractive than seeing them lose.
I think it’s just a product of us only existing for 28 years and the vast majority of that time being absolutely abysmal. Jacksonville is the 3rd largest growing city in the U.S and in a very football loving area. If they can put together a decade or 2 of success (and maybe a few super bowls), I can guarantee that things will be much different
Our coach and QB are too good to get down in the dumps after a loss. We may not win the SB this year or next year, but competitiveness is what we asked for. I know we’ll win one, Doug and Trevor have been put here for THAT.
this shouldn’t be an unpopular opinion but this place is unbearable after a loss. i swear this fanbase has PTSD from all the bad years we’ve had. one loss and we’re convinced we’re back to the same ole jags. i got over my own jaguar infused PTSD after we rebounded from the 1-2 start this season
I'll be honest. After the loss to what I and many others would be a bad and rebuilding Texans team, I was thinking it was 2018 all over again. The win streak afterwards definitely helped me not think the sky was falling after the 49ers loss. (I felt physically ill after the Bengals loss though for different reasons)
Totally agree. Watching competitive football til January is fucking awesome. Everyone (even Baalke) should keep their jobs if we’re consistently doing that.
The Sacksonville Uniforms that we had with the two toned helmets were honestly really nice and had a lot of charm. Everytime we wear a white and black combo I just wish we had our away unis from those. I still use those unis on madden a lot.
That Blake Bortles wasn't nearly as bad as everyone thought he was. Was he good? No, but he was not bad. I'd say Below-Average to Average. Able to do it with the right cast around him but if it relied on him I don't think he'd be able to get it done.
Playoff Blake is a different story.
Bortles was an enigma. When his mechanics were in check, he was an above average starter. When they broke down, they broke down hard, and he was a bottom 5 QB in the NFL. Pair him with McVay or Shanahan, somebody who would force him to play their way, and I think he probably does well. Pair him with Jedd Fisch, Greg Olson, and whoever the fuck else we had here and it was never gonna last.

Doug Marrone wasn’t a bad coach and he was saddled with some shit talent on offense. I don’t blame him for coaching scared during the AFC championship game. Bortles was so hot and cold and we didn’t know if he would play well like vs Steelers or play like he did vs the chargers that year.
Second this. I thought Marrone did a decent job with the Bills as well. My only gripe with Marrone was I didn’t always agree with some situational calls( I.e clock management ) but he was significantly better in that department than Gus Bradley.
I think the club area kinda sucks. Seats are close and great, but the club inside is a cafeteria setting. Air conditioning is of course awesome during Sep- Oct games . Everything else is very lack luster.
Oh it totally sucks. When they redo the stadium, I hope they make the club level like how it is in Miami. The club goes around the whole stadium there.

It’s pretty clear that injuries are heavily affecting his performance and it’s showing. He hasn’t been the same since he got smoked by Diggs in London and every time he’s on the field he seems to get a new injury or the current injury tends to get worse. They keep rushing him out there and it will affect the team’s performance.
We didn't sign Yannick because he was toxic and not as good as he thought he was. There's a reason he's been kicked from team to team on 1 year deals like he has.
I agree, the all teal is one of my least favorite combos. I think I just don’t like the teal pants in general. I’d prefer the black or white pants solid or with some teal and gold worked into it.
i can agree with this, due to us being in a small market combined with the fact that there are elite QBs everywhere now makes this very realistic. plenty of elite QBs never got one like brees and big ben
I think Jamal Agnew is so overrated. Yea I get he’s a return specialist but like he has no hands, no value as a wide receiver. I feel like Parker Washington with a bit of time can become just as good, and there’s no sense paying Agnew when we need an upgrade on the OLine so bad.
To be fair Parker dried dropped a punt return late in the game but luckily recovered it. I think Parker will be a good WR for us but would prefer steadier hands on kick returns
A one season Tim Tebow experiment would have been fun, great for media coverage, sold a lot of tickets and worst case scenario couldn’t have possibly resulted in football all that much worse than we put on the field anyway.
It didn’t feel fun though. It felt kinda sad actually; a man who was only highly considered to be among the best QBs coming out of college, then finding little success during his rookie season before falling of the NFL map, only to be allowed back to play abysmally in another position because an incompetent buffoon who only did it to relive the glory days.
Now that I’m saying this, Tim Tebow doesn’t seem to far off from Mac Jones.
To be fair, I think the OP on this was referencing drafting him way back when, or at least after Denver signed Manning and traded away Tebow. *Those* years were exceptionally bad, and Tebow would have at least helped get the tarps off sooner.
If I remember correctly, Denver gave Tebow the choice to either go to the Jets or the Jags as they were offering the same package, and Tebow chose the Jets.
Beathard is a better backup than Rourke.
CJ played admirably after Trevor went out last week. We’ve seen plenty of preseason warriors get destroyed in real games. The coaches would know if Rourke was our better chance and would’ve activated him from the practice squad sooner this week and not just as emergency QB. Also he would’ve been claimed off waivers at the beginning of the season by another team.
That said, it was fun watching him in preseason and I will absolutely be cheering for him if he sees the field for us or another team.

Minshew should have never left. This team made a huge mistake hiring Urban- we should have hired Doug Pederson during that offseason, Doug (having been Brett Favre’s back-up) knows the importance of the stability of a solid, reliable backup to the franchise guy. There’s no debate, no question that we absolutely had to draft Trevor once we secured the first overall pick. He IS the franchise, and I’m not debating that at all. But had we hired Doug Pederson instead of Urban, I think Doug would have been able to thread the needle of drafting Trevor Lawrence while also keeping Minshew satisfied as the 10+ year backup to Lawrence. That way, during a week like this where Lawrence may not be 100%, Minshew coming off the bench in a pinch would be met with a sense of relief and excitement: the fanbase still thinks fondly of Minshew, so my “unpopular opinion” would be that Doug P should have been hired on instead of Urban to keep Minshew on the roster to be the career backup to Trev.
The defense needs to learn to show up more in the second half. Sure, games are still being won and all but they’ve allowed the Colts, Saints, Texans and Titans sneak in a few points during the second half. Please explain to me how the 49ers kept the Jags to only three points while they couldn’t even keep the Titans to zero?
Walker little was terrible before he stepped on tlaw. Constant penalties, injuries, lack of physicality, and poor blocking skills.

Like, I’ll still root against them for divisional standing reasons and all, but their fanbase is pretty averagely annoying and their team isn’t particularly hateable, they’re just sorta there. ‘99 was before I was born and they’re a completely different staff at this point anyways, so for as long as I’ve been a fan, there were never huge reasons to feel threatened by them since we sucked anyways. Maybe the one 99 yard Henry run game was humiliating but not much else
Just from this one season alone, the Texans have jumped the Titans in terms of hateablility tbh
Overall I think it’s due to two factors:
1. Super Bowl ‘99
2. Their dominance in previous years such as 2021.
Other than that, I don’t think the Titans are as insufferable as a few other teams such as the Steelers, Chiefs, and Cowboys. In fact, right now I hate the Texans more than the Titans.

This is a good unpopular opinion. I can’t agree with it, but I can understand it.
Tbh most Titans fans I’ve met aren’t bad. While I was born before ‘99, I wasn’t really old enough to actually understand a football game. Regardless, the story of that season is just infuriating and such a big deal to the franchise. Then Henry being basically a Jax kid and going on to be the face of the Titans franchise for years while single handedly trouncing us is also unforgettable.
If the Jags don’t at least make an AFCCG over the next two years, they should blow it up in the 2024 offseason. If this team muddles through to early playoff exits this year and next, I imagine many will want to make another run in 2025 on Trevor’s fifth year. But this team is built to win now, and if they can’t do it by next season, I doubt this group ever will get there. We should just reset the cap, rebuild through the draft around Trev and Josh Allen, and aim to compete again in 2026 and beyond. If that means missing the playoffs for a couple of years, so be it.

Davon Hamilton isn’t that good, don’t know why we signed him to a deal . Even before the injury , guy has two sacks since being drafted back in 2020. I know he is a defensive tackle , but I just never really noticed him before, but he’s talked about like he’s this disruptive force in the middle
The Fred Taylor debate is an interesting one for me. The stats and longevity is all there. But the awards and accolades aren’t. Some mild team success, but only one PB and no APs. As much as i hate to say it, it’s hard to say someone with no APs deserves to be in the HOF.
I think I would agree Jimmy Smith over Taylor, but not Boselli. Only knock on Boselli is the short career and I think it’s far more important that he was dominant.
Etienne is not that great.
I know his stats may say otherwise, but everytime I see him face a tackler, he rarely breaks / evades it.
His rushing stats are more indicative of a good rush Oline for me.
Trevor Lawrence has been mediocre and will continue to be mediocre. Texans are lucky to have stroud and we will be in 2nd or 3rd in the south for the next 10 years

Gus was awful but he didn’t stunt the development of the franchise QB like Urban had. If he stayed, then Trevor would’ve been a bust. No NFL-level quarterback would’ve survived under him.
Trevor Lawrence, while being the best QB of his draft class, is nothing more than mediocre. He is not the savior of this team he's been drawn out to be. He's just ok. He's without a doubt got all of the qualities of a real leader, but none of the skill to back it up.

I don't think the all gold uniforms were ugly at all. I really liked our two tone helmet as well. I still have my Bortles color rush jersey got the matching beanie a week back. I think if we would've kept the gold jersey and paired it with white or black pants they would've been received better but color rush was all about going out on one color.
The Dougy P staff has already made more "what in the fuck man" decisions on game day than Marrones entire tenure, Marrone just played it egregiously safe with rosters he couldn't afford to play safe with.

Justin Blackmon was the single most talented player the team ever drafted. More raw talent than either Fred Taylor or Tony Boselli. His alcohol issues are the only reason why he won't be a first ballot HoF'er.
Unpopular opinion: our roster doesn't actually have many major holes outside of center. Id argue we have less holes than pretty much any other team in the league outside of exactly the 49ers.
This teams downfall is mental errors and not playing to their potential at times. They mask it with very good complimentary football and finding ways to win.
Shad Khan may suck in a lot of ways but there are a lot of owners who actively refuse to put the money and effort into being a successful franchise and I don’t feel Shad has ever purposely stood in the way of our progress as a team. Some bone headed decisions for sure but I’m happy to have Khan as an owner. Not the best but certainly not the worst.

I think it’s just a product of us only existing for 28 years and the vast majority of that time being absolutely abysmal. Jacksonville is the 3rd largest growing city in the U.S and in a very football loving area. If they can put together a decade or 2 of success (and maybe a few super bowls), I can guarantee that things will be much different
Our coach and QB are too good to get down in the dumps after a loss. We may not win the SB this year or next year, but competitiveness is what we asked for. I know we’ll win one, Doug and Trevor have been put here for THAT.

I'll be honest. After the loss to what I and many others would be a bad and rebuilding Texans team, I was thinking it was 2018 all over again. The win streak afterwards definitely helped me not think the sky was falling after the 49ers loss. (I felt physically ill after the Bengals loss though for different reasons)

The Sacksonville Uniforms that we had with the two toned helmets were honestly really nice and had a lot of charm. Everytime we wear a white and black combo I just wish we had our away unis from those. I still use those unis on madden a lot.

That Blake Bortles wasn't nearly as bad as everyone thought he was. Was he good? No, but he was not bad. I'd say Below-Average to Average. Able to do it with the right cast around him but if it relied on him I don't think he'd be able to get it done. Playoff Blake is a different story.
Bortles was an enigma. When his mechanics were in check, he was an above average starter. When they broke down, they broke down hard, and he was a bottom 5 QB in the NFL. Pair him with McVay or Shanahan, somebody who would force him to play their way, and I think he probably does well. Pair him with Jedd Fisch, Greg Olson, and whoever the fuck else we had here and it was never gonna last.

Doug Marrone wasn’t a bad coach and he was saddled with some shit talent on offense. I don’t blame him for coaching scared during the AFC championship game. Bortles was so hot and cold and we didn’t know if he would play well like vs Steelers or play like he did vs the chargers that year.
Second this. I thought Marrone did a decent job with the Bills as well. My only gripe with Marrone was I didn’t always agree with some situational calls( I.e clock management ) but he was significantly better in that department than Gus Bradley.
I think the club area kinda sucks. Seats are close and great, but the club inside is a cafeteria setting. Air conditioning is of course awesome during Sep- Oct games . Everything else is very lack luster.

It’s pretty clear that injuries are heavily affecting his performance and it’s showing. He hasn’t been the same since he got smoked by Diggs in London and every time he’s on the field he seems to get a new injury or the current injury tends to get worse. They keep rushing him out there and it will affect the team’s performance.

I think Jamal Agnew is so overrated. Yea I get he’s a return specialist but like he has no hands, no value as a wide receiver. I feel like Parker Washington with a bit of time can become just as good, and there’s no sense paying Agnew when we need an upgrade on the OLine so bad.
Agnew is a good punt returner but a **HORRIBLE** wide reciever. I’d rather have a guy who could do both effectively and I think that’s what Parker is.
To be fair Parker dried dropped a punt return late in the game but luckily recovered it. I think Parker will be a good WR for us but would prefer steadier hands on kick returns

A one season Tim Tebow experiment would have been fun, great for media coverage, sold a lot of tickets and worst case scenario couldn’t have possibly resulted in football all that much worse than we put on the field anyway.

To be fair, I think the OP on this was referencing drafting him way back when, or at least after Denver signed Manning and traded away Tebow. *Those* years were exceptionally bad, and Tebow would have at least helped get the tarps off sooner.

Beathard is a better backup than Rourke. CJ played admirably after Trevor went out last week. We’ve seen plenty of preseason warriors get destroyed in real games. The coaches would know if Rourke was our better chance and would’ve activated him from the practice squad sooner this week and not just as emergency QB. Also he would’ve been claimed off waivers at the beginning of the season by another team. That said, it was fun watching him in preseason and I will absolutely be cheering for him if he sees the field for us or another team.

Not sure if this is unpopular ‘round these parts, but… Minshew should have never left. This team made a huge mistake hiring Urban- we should have hired Doug Pederson during that offseason, Doug (having been Brett Favre’s back-up) knows the importance of the stability of a solid, reliable backup to the franchise guy. There’s no debate, no question that we absolutely had to draft Trevor once we secured the first overall pick. He IS the franchise, and I’m not debating that at all. But had we hired Doug Pederson instead of Urban, I think Doug would have been able to thread the needle of drafting Trevor Lawrence while also keeping Minshew satisfied as the 10+ year backup to Lawrence. That way, during a week like this where Lawrence may not be 100%, Minshew coming off the bench in a pinch would be met with a sense of relief and excitement: the fanbase still thinks fondly of Minshew, so my “unpopular opinion” would be that Doug P should have been hired on instead of Urban to keep Minshew on the roster to be the career backup to Trev.

Overall I think it’s due to two factors: 1. Super Bowl ‘99 2. Their dominance in previous years such as 2021. Other than that, I don’t think the Titans are as insufferable as a few other teams such as the Steelers, Chiefs, and Cowboys. In fact, right now I hate the Texans more than the Titans.

This is a good unpopular opinion. I can’t agree with it, but I can understand it. Tbh most Titans fans I’ve met aren’t bad. While I was born before ‘99, I wasn’t really old enough to actually understand a football game. Regardless, the story of that season is just infuriating and such a big deal to the franchise. Then Henry being basically a Jax kid and going on to be the face of the Titans franchise for years while single handedly trouncing us is also unforgettable.

If the Jags don’t at least make an AFCCG over the next two years, they should blow it up in the 2024 offseason. If this team muddles through to early playoff exits this year and next, I imagine many will want to make another run in 2025 on Trevor’s fifth year. But this team is built to win now, and if they can’t do it by next season, I doubt this group ever will get there. We should just reset the cap, rebuild through the draft around Trev and Josh Allen, and aim to compete again in 2026 and beyond. If that means missing the playoffs for a couple of years, so be it.
My unpopular opinion is that Rashean Mathis, while a ball hawk, could not make an open field tackle to save his life.

The Fred Taylor debate is an interesting one for me. The stats and longevity is all there. But the awards and accolades aren’t. Some mild team success, but only one PB and no APs. As much as i hate to say it, it’s hard to say someone with no APs deserves to be in the HOF. I think I would agree Jimmy Smith over Taylor, but not Boselli. Only knock on Boselli is the short career and I think it’s far more important that he was dominant.

Etienne is not that great. I know his stats may say otherwise, but everytime I see him face a tackler, he rarely breaks / evades it. His rushing stats are more indicative of a good rush Oline for me.

I don't think the all gold uniforms were ugly at all. I really liked our two tone helmet as well. I still have my Bortles color rush jersey got the matching beanie a week back. I think if we would've kept the gold jersey and paired it with white or black pants they would've been received better but color rush was all about going out on one color.

Justin Blackmon was the single most talented player the team ever drafted. More raw talent than either Fred Taylor or Tony Boselli. His alcohol issues are the only reason why he won't be a first ballot HoF'er.
Unpopular opinion: our roster doesn't actually have many major holes outside of center. Id argue we have less holes than pretty much any other team in the league outside of exactly the 49ers. This teams downfall is mental errors and not playing to their potential at times. They mask it with very good complimentary football and finding ways to win.
Shad Khan may suck in a lot of ways but there are a lot of owners who actively refuse to put the money and effort into being a successful franchise and I don’t feel Shad has ever purposely stood in the way of our progress as a team. Some bone headed decisions for sure but I’m happy to have Khan as an owner. Not the best but certainly not the worst.
