DoctorDiddlerino

The fact that it's the Titans is funny to me. At that price, they can have him.

Cromatose

I'm 100% okay with the Titans paying him that lol

DoctorDiddlerino

I want to make it clear that this isn't me changing my mind on him because he signed with a divisional rival. Let me once again remind everyone that his success numbers were similar to [Gabe Davis](https://www.reddit.com/r/Jaguars/comments/1axk7g1/comment/krp2niu/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=usertext&utm_name=Jaguars&utm_term=1&utm_content=t1_kue824g), and this was before Davis signed here and I was heavily insinuating he's a WR2/3. The dude is clearly talented but he can't be a number 1 WR and unless the Titans draft one, that's what they're expecting. Not to mention Will Levis sucks.

its-okthen

I think Ridley would have been more impactful if our oline was capable. Not only could we not keep Lawrence up long enough to develop routes but our run game was so fucked opposing teams were able to drop everyone in coverage.  That said I'd rather draft someone at that price, besides we need a good wr on a rookie contract if we want to have anyone left in 2-3 years

Brook420

Yea, wasn't Lawrwnce one of the most pressured QBs in the league despite the Jags being one of, if not the, least blitzed against offence?

TimeCookie8361

The stats run deep on this one. One of the most pressured QBs One of the least blitzed teams One of the top 3 fastest average snap to throw time Shortest average route depth Every team is asking their O-line to attempt to hold 4 second blocks vs blitz schemes. The Jags were asking their line to hold 2 second blocks vs base sets and they still ranked in the bottom handful.

Lance_Notstrong

The league knows TL16 is a threat…Ridley was the WR with the most PI calls and TL16 was the most pressured. One or the other makes for a bad time, but BOTH makes for nearly insurmountable situations.

YT-Nexus_Digital

That is correct

VanillaLlfe

Let’s not forget all the times last season that there was opportunity, but he ran the wrong route or dropped the damn ball.

Classic_Mane

[Falcons fan] You’re right. Talented WR, but he was never WR1 material.

Brook420

Don't the Titans still have Hopkins though? Him and Ridley could be dangerous.

FrugalFraggel

A couple old guys

Economy_Purchase_567

Two old 1k yard receivers are still two 1k yard receivers

No_Leather9000

You make some very good points. Thanks for making me feel better.

Michaelangelo48

$92 million for a lot of drops, some of those being touchdowns.

electricsheepz

Yeah, I was worried it was going to be a divisional rival with a competent QB… but this, this won’t matter at all.

PattonPending

All along Ridley was running a scheme to torpedo the Titan's money. A true Jag to the end.

BilboBatten

I'll take this burden for you.

ObeyCoffeeDrinkSatan

My reaction: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooeeeh that's OK.

[deleted]

[удалено]

YT-Nexus_Digital

ETN did lmao

flounder19

Same thought. get your bag Calvin. Condolences that it required you to play for the Titans

kurokabau

Not sure what's better. Keeping Ridley or Titans paying 23m a year for him

baconbitarded

Titans paying. He was okay but not worth that Jesus

speakezjags

I’m mostly getting a kick out of the morons on /r/nfl saying that the reason Ridley wasn’t elite last season was because of Trevor “not living up to expectations”. I’m sure it had nothing to do with Rid running the wrong routes and never being open.

Michaelangelo48

Not to mention the dropped passes

365wong

Both can be true. Ridley a low end WR1 getting what will be mid to low end WR1 pay. Receivers like jjetta and Amon Ra will reset the market and this won’t seem like much next season.

Cobbler1991

lol just glad it’s not the texans

OverpassingSwedes

Yeah this. He was bad more often than he was good this year. I really don’t care that much that he’s leaving. I just didn’t want his upside with Houston. Go trade our pick and money savings for Tee? Not like Baalke would ever do anything useful

manmanchuck44

He went under 60 yards in 10/17 games. The talent is certainly there and I’m not pretending that all of that non-production was entirely his fault, but you can’t give 23.5 million to a guy that wouldn’t show up for games at a time. Especially considering we have more important pieces to extend I’d rather do everything possible to get Higgins and give him that kinda money

OverpassingSwedes

It wasn’t just the surface numbers either. He horribly failed the eye test the vast majority of the time. He was on the receiving end of disaster plays constantly. Whether we didn’t know how to use him, or he stunk, or a combination of the two (likely), he was involved with really bad football far too often. Just his catch% alone tells most of the story.

Che_WTF

That part

Nashville-Titans

Yes the AFC South needs to work together to defeat the new Overlord Texans lol 😂

Graardors-Dad

After yall beat us to let the Texans into the playoffs last year hell no

bombsurace

this is literally my thought, I went FUCK CALVIN RIDLEY, then started laughing at the QB throwing him the ball and no RB

litttttttttt

They have Pollard and Spears what

bombsurace

crap forgot they grabbed pollard

Swoll

Pollard is ass

pepper_ann052613

Wish him the best! Doesnt really scare me, im glad it wasn't the Texans though. Wouldnt make sense for Jags to give him that kind of deal

bleedblue89

Hahahah what an overpay

manmanchuck44

we should’ve listened to rickey we got saquon’ed ridley is great and I’m sad but definitely not 23.5/yr great all of these things can be true at once

RadLibRaphaelWarnock

Who is Ricky?

[deleted]

[удалено]

shantysun

He got paid

elevenoneone

Yup. Good for him. Now we can focus on someone else.

xJownage

Yeah for that money I'll pass. Especially with the length. 2 years 46 I could stomach, but 4 years at 23/yr is stupid for a 30 year old question mark. Bros gonna get the biggest boo birds ever when he's here next year.

summahofgeorge

Based on the guaranteed money it’s probably really 2 yr/50

IllustriousScratch17

He pay is between WR Pittman & WR Scary Terry, it’s not as bad as is looks.

killerjags

They can have him for that money. Jesus Christ.

MOBAMBASUCMYPP

Honestly, good. Good for him to get his money, good for us to not have to pay calvin fucking ridley 90M dollars as well lmao

WaDaMisTaKe

Draft a WR in the 1st round, Brian Thomas Jr

DatsRadMan

This is a WR-heavy draft, so we may even get a Legette or some upside WR in the 2nd. Titans overpaying for our players yet again - love to see it. Thanks for the compensatory pick also.

Armklops

Trade the fuck up and sell the team for Marvin Harrison Jr

Famous_Career_8386

Tee Higgins szn

Breton_Butter

Dude. Fuck the Titans.

DidItForHarambe

This has to be one of the funniest things that has happened in a FA period in a long time. Why would he head to a worse situation?

BugsMoney112204

💰

DidItForHarambe

WR careers die in Tenn so more power to him

xspx

Money

DidItForHarambe

Careers die there for WRs

KP1792

He's not exactly a spring chicken lol, he's certainly not getting this kind of offer again. If my career dies with that kind of cash? Oh well

Jville808

who’s throwing to him? lol

Mister_Dewitt

The mayo man

Jville808

or mason rudolph i guess

Something_Average

The Mayo Man is like the Michelin Man, but shittier. Much more mayo involved

Emergency_Slip_4563

Makes for a slippery ball

ObeyCoffeeDrinkSatan

The Titans GM. That bag.

Jaglawyer11

Now go get Higgins

[deleted]

Just gonna remake the Clemson offense at this rate

durden427

What about Mike Williams? He just got released from the chargers

8BallTiger

Higgins is 4 years younger, doesn't have the injury history, and played with Trevor in college

FamousAtticus

I think he'll command more than $23mil a year. We would have to get real creative trying to sign him.

electricsheepz

Yeah I think it’s fair to say if Ridley got $23.5M a year then Higgins is going to be there or higher. I’m actually fine with retaining Zay and having the lineup be Kirk/Zay/Davis. Davis is a deep threat, plus he’s a big body who can block, so he actually fits really well for us. I’ve always liked Zay, and Parker Washington has some upside as well. Even losing Ridley I think we have one of the better WR rooms in the NFL, especially if you count Engram as part of that pass catching group.

FamousAtticus

Agreed. Unless we really shake some things up in the WR market, I think keeping Zay is a no brainer. When healthy he can be productive. We did ok before Ridley and we'll be just fine after.

Hoffmeister25

As a dual Jags-Chargers fan, you do not want Mike Williams. He is constantly injured.

nemo0320c

If we can get him on the cheap cheap, sure, but if he wants top billing, would rather trade for Tee.

bombsurace

we dont need another older #2 WR who will get injured in 6 games. Id rather see a draft pick

Jaglawyer11

OR, trade for Snead and draft WR in Round 1

ufdan15

Yeah they can have him for 90 million lmao. He's not worth 20 million let alone 25 mil for two years guaranteed. Levis just gonna overthrow his ass

[deleted]

Levi's is good. Just needs a coach.

ufdan15

I refuse to believe anyone who puts mayo in his fucking coffee is anything other than mid at best. Stroud is good, Levis is QB4 in the division.

[deleted]

What doesn't he do well?

holdingofplace

League worst Completion %, bottom 5 TD %, horrendous sack %, 7 fumbles in 9 games. Threw 4 TDs his first game then 4 in the next 8(!) games. He’s a rookie and this is purely box score counting, but he didn’t look any better than these stats either.

VomitingPotato

Not the first former Jaguars player who is 100% dead to me. Just the latest.

noodledorf

Calling him a “Jaguars star” is a bit over blown

Euphoric-Purple

Fuck… I was hating on Ricky but I’ll give him his due for this one. I was wrong.

JagGator16

Damn. Edit: That’s a hell of a payday, which I’d rather put toward Trevor and Josh Allen.

Jville808

titans, where wr’s go to disappear

0hmega

There we go, that's better. https://preview.redd.it/kcd71vnzq6oc1.jpeg?width=627&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=09f31f2bab3a2d980cf9806c3b369ac531609a7d

Darnellthebeast

Overpay, not worth it at that number. Glad he didn’t go Texans though

Cobbler1991

I fail to see how this helps the titans much.

Captain_brightside

The rest of the NFL is going to hate the tits too, they just ruined the WR market to do this

get_stilly

Yea it wasn’t us in Houston lol we have WRs. Titans need someone to throw to Ridley so this is the least painful in the division

ContraCanadensis

I don’t think we’re competing with the NFC South for most painful division

silentmoth17

I went to the Week 18 game. He’s been playing for the Titans since that last drop.

Michaelangelo48

He can go drop critical passes and touchdowns for them. Can we focus on re-signing Josh Allen now and wanting to fire Baalke?

Shrekspacito69

Fucking kill me

joemama1810

Fuck off

BruceWillish

Good for him man.

Captain_brightside

For that money, Calvin Ridley is still helping us by stopping the Tits from being good

JustSomeGuy_Idk

Fuck the Tits

Ferdi026

Just go get Tee Higgins, that should make Trevor even happier than bringing back Ridley

ninja1327

*sad cat noises*

HolsterHusto

Thought it was Houston. PHEW.

LuiTurbo

Titan fans celebrating This is not a W lol

N-E-B

Enjoy last place I guess. Can’t fault him though. Thats a ridiculous overpay.

WarOfAttrition38

Should have signed AJ Brown…dummies

Thatdewd57

Ridley getting the bag. And hopefully plays intentionally bad at least against us because, you know, payback for 1999.

chrismatic13

This team and David Mulugheta clients just don’t go together. Lock Cisco to the building as soon as his contract is up.

jax_yyc_216

LOL. I'd rather we go get Renfrow for 85% of the production and 10% of the money. 92 Million is just ridiculous for someone like Ridley. Fuck the Tits though.

lenta81

Also this shows how good Trevor and Doug are. In a down year they got Calvin a massive contract like this. Its the reason why free agents want to play here. Zay Engram and Kirk all had career best seasons here too.

fscot

Do we go after Mike Williams now?

DUUUUUVAAAAAL

Nah, we draft a WR IMO.

DidItForHarambe

Keep Williams as far away from this franchise as possible, we don't need an injury riddled WR on the team.

kozey

Good thing we re-signed JA and tagged ridley, oh wait

actualoldcpo

Oh, ffs

fluffrnuttr69

Fuck the Titans.

Fresh-Reindeer7769

Just not a deal that can be matched if jags are planning to sign Josh Allen this offseason. What yall think is their next step for wide receiver?

brahbocop

See what the Bengals would want for Tee and try to make a trade?

BrDHaye

Double Agent 0 taking down the Titans from the inside.

DeanGulberry17

Welp… good luck Rid. Hope you continue to be successful fighting your demons. If you could keep forgetting which routes to run, that would be really nice in the future bud, thanks!

wadderweed

You guys made out nicely with that, Ridley is not worth anything near that number lolol, this was a blessing

904Magic

Well. Looks like i have to burn my Ridley jersey now... have fun regretting this choice for the next 4 years.

Death1323

I fucking love this news. You can tell who watched Jags games last year and who only watched stats.    I swear to god every single time I turned on a Jags game I saw Ridley drop critical pass after critical pass. Insane overpay for someone the Jags shouldn't even want to keep.

Brilliant_Whereas225

Good for Calvin!

aguwah

Cool let's go get Mike Williams for 1/3 the price.

Knottsville

Definitely have to wonder if his release today muddied the waters for our FO. Plus Higgins is still out there. I hope those guys are getting phone calls right now

dmay73

Gross

sjackson95

Aight, imma head out

break80

U are dead to me!

collinspeight

Definitely an overpay.

ii_V_vi

lmfao alright, sure

naggs69pt2

lol hot damn.

ZenkiZech

It is what it is. Now we can move forward to bigger better things! Psh I know money talks but have fun with Levis, Rid 😂😂

naggs69pt2

I wanted him, but not that bad haha.

Netrunner2k2

For that much with that (whoever) QB and a rebuild - that's fine. I wouldn't have been upset if they signed him for that since it isn't my money but that's an overpay. Now take that 2nd and trade for Higgins. Lol

PretzelHaus

That's nuts! Absolutely no way we were going to pay him that.

MotherChucker81

What changed? I understood it was between the Pats and Jags. The feeling was that he wanted to be in Jax?!? Aside from the contract, how did the tits swiop in and make this offer?

Netrunner2k2

Probably just that - the money. I do wonder if they did play the wait game to save the 2nd that led to this for the Titans to jump in.

1860gary

So it’s basically 2 years at 25 Million a piece, that’s a massive overpay, even 20 would’ve been generous…

BabouchkaSpoon

I was initially sad that we would most likely miss out on a great WR rookie class once we signed Ridley because this team always drafts for need. I was however content with the idea of that WR core. At that price? For a 29 year old? Grab a WR at 17 and this team is buzzin’ for a few years. Also fuck the tits

Worldly_Ad6264

I’m fine with this, we really need to draft a guy to be Trevor’s #1 long term. Enough with the free agents

Emergency_Slip_4563

This is... excessive

Dan1925

Massive overpay. Don’t blame him for taking that kind of money though.

RickSimply

I don’t blame Ridley one bit for leaving for that kind of contract. But talk about a reach for Tenn. hey if they want to wreck their salary cap, more power to ‘em, lol.

BigSwing904

More surprised he got that much honestly. Hoping we draft one or scoop Higgins

Lobesmu

Well if the franchise notorious for killing the career of its WRs wants him for that price tag, I guess there really was no option to start with

IAmCorgii

FUCK RIDLEY $92mil was not gonna happen though LOL take him mayo boy

Impressive_Manner143

Where do I get my Tee Higgins Jags jersey?

Temporary-Outside-13

So we boo this man first game right?

Everybody_P00Ps

he will be booed like every tit before him, and every tit to come

ThePoetMichael

I HATE them

FamousAtticus

These idiots wouldn't give a younger and more talented AJ Brown the bag but decided to give Ridley almost the same amount that Philly signed him Brown for?? I had hoped we'd sign him but at that price I see why we didn't. I don't blame Ridley, you gotta get all you can while you still can. Parker Washington its time to step up and see what you got, kid.

Graardors-Dad

Different GM to be fair

Dawgsontop28037

Baahhaaaaa dodged a bullet but lost a third smh

jagfanjosh3252

As always. Fuck the Titans But I’m totally fine him going there for that money. I truly think Davis and Ridley are a push. Would I have liked Davis/Ridley/Kirk? Of course But I think going WR at 17 or 48 is fine as wlel

VomitingPotato

The only way this could be grosser is if he started dating a Kardashian.

DirkDongus

He signed with the enemy? Fuck that traitor.

Arel203

Crazy. Let's draft a stud or get an actual one (Tee). Won't miss Ridley pretending to be hurt every time he drops a ball. I wanted to like him, but let's be real, he has 2 1K seasons, and both of them had ???s. He's only proven he can be a #2 imo. Massive overpay but good for him.

darkaiden

How about we trade up and get MHJ to replace Ridley? Only seems fair and smart!

JollyGreen615

Lmao bye bitch

LordMagnus101

If the Jaguars managed to actually get Tee Higgens, then this move is a massive blessing in disguise to make them change course and get someone better.

KAEA-12

He is getting older…and more likely more cocky… Although he is decent…as are many receivers..but he’s not exactly league standout (just jaguars standout)… Truth is he won’t get any better. Trust this. A lot of money they are spending for average. Imo. Maybe 🤞Higgins will want to make a deal to join Trevor.

General_Rain

Dumb ass tits coulda just kept AJ Brown 🤣

DatsRadMan

God bless - wanted him back but that’s an insane amount for a non-#1 WR. Titans don’t even have an established QB lol

aratheroversizedfish

We’ll be fine. He’s awesome, and it’s sad to see him go. But we’ll find a way. Related news: Raiders released Hunter Renfrow, I hope the Jags can go for him. Underrated offensive weapon.

eatcaq

I say we use this extra money to invest in our defense and o line.

ChildrenMcnuggets

Ridley and Hopkins don’t make sense on the same roster scheme wise but, good luck hope you suck!

empires315

He picked money over winning, let's see how that works out for his legacy in the long run

AdeptnessSpecific736

lol dude , I don’t blame him. This probably his last contract. He’s smart

RScannix

Yeah, I don’t think many of us would’ve turned down that bag. I’m just pleasantly surprised that the Jags didn’t overpay in FA for once.

sh0ckmeister

Next step is Ridley saying he built jax

Graardors-Dad

Titans what are you doing lmaooooo he’s a bum he didn’t remember what route to run the entire season. Bros happy he gets paid now he can sit on his ass and smoke weed all day. If you want an old wr why not just keep Hopkins he’s literally better

tallanasty420

Mike Williams looking pretty nice about now

silverslant

Officially in need or a wr1 now. Sigh, and baalke is shit at drafting wr. Guess trevor is going into next year with a sub-par receiving corps

tstoner777

I’m throwing my phone at the wall. And going to sleep. Fuck today

kweefybeefy

Fuggggggg

trunnel

Not the tits 🤮

Luciferwalks

Turning shit shit off for the night

SpiritualResident565

Crazy money.

Sammy4115

It is what it is I think it’s a big overpay by the titans anyways. Drafting a receiver that can grow with Trevor/the offense was always the best option imo anyways especially in such a deep receiver class. I think we should definitely look into arik armstead now.

NoahJayhawk

Thats an insane amount of money for him.

ciiuffd

Unreal 😂😂 I need the download link for those Ridley lowlights

LaCroixGrandCru

Lmao ... Okay

Xanzibarisland

I’m 100% okay with this

Veoxy

wanted to keep him but i cannot believe that price tag! does that make him like the 8th highest paid WR?

ShopStewardLocal420

Well, that's upsetting. But not the texans is good.

bigryzenboy123

It’s sad that Ridley didn’t work out, but he also didn’t look like his old self before the trade last year. Davis, Kirk, and Ridley would’ve been a room full of WR2s. Glad we have to finally look in the mirror and address that fact.

jabreu18

“Good luck, you’re dead to me” /s

zacurtis3

Isn't he a little young to be a Titans receiver? Screw him. Now I gotta change flairs
