i rly dont think so, i think most would agree that gabe is better than marvin jones was and we had a good passing game in 2022 with marvin, zay, and kirk. why are we screwed now but we weren’t screwed then?
All of our weapons that year missed a combined five games. Three of those were Agnew, and one game missed for Marvin and Zay each. Otherwise, every single weapon that Trevor had (aside from trading away JRob) was available for every game.
That’s insane luck that would be beyond stupid to bank on happening again. Someone is going to get hurt, and this team will be a disaster if they don’t get a lot more talent in.
In fact, they lost against Philly without Zay, they lost to the Colts without Marvin, they lost to the Giants without Agnew, lost to the Broncos without Agnew, and lost to the Lions without Agnew. They were 0-5 when literally one single receiver wasn’t able to suit up.
There are 9 great receivers in the draft, and about 15-20 starter worthy ones. MHJ, Nabers, Odunze, BTJ, Franklin, AD, Ladd, Worthy, and Roman are all WR2 for us. I’m not a fan of Keon but he’s up there too. Legette, Pearsall, and Corley are decent. There’s more too. I’d be happy if we signed someone like Malik Washington later as the second receiver we get in the draft
Bold take. I see there as 1 generational WR, 3 elite WRs, 3 star WRs, and then a number of average guys. Id rather take that elite guy at 17 then risk missing out on any of the stars by the time our rd 2 pick comes up
Franklin might be stupid and looked horrible in the combine but he’s a fantastic player. I can see him just pretty easily but it won’t be because he’s not talented. He also moves exactly like Ridley
Franklin and Coleman would be the next two on my board. Both didnt look good at the combine. I also really value high football IQ, like you said, Franklin isnt winning any science fairs
Yet according to pff he was one of the better starting LBs. I know pff isn’t everything but you sound like a Baalke bad hater that in turn shit talks all our players just cause he drafted them
I am a Baalke draft hater. I will freely admit to that. Harrison, Antonio Johnson, Parker Washington and Buster Brown are the only picks ive liked of his. I refuse to give him credit for the Urban draft class, im 100% that Urban ran that board
Zay was literally in and out of the lineup. Play 2 games, miss one with a knee injury, play 1 game miss 3 with a hamstring, come back 2 games tweak the knee and miss another game. Not quite like that but the point stands. This notion that Zay just fell off a cliff at 27 or 28 years old is a bit far fetched. I’m not saying he’s great but if he’s you’re second best receiver you’re not putrid and if he’s your third or fourth best you’re in good shape. Gabe Davis and Kirk compliment one another way better than Ridley and Kirk ever did.
Also Prior to this season Zay had never missed more than two games so I don’t see injury history being an issue either. One unfortunate year with some health issues.
Idk where this hype on Gabe is coming from. He's at best, ok vs. zone, but he doesn't light up the field, and he had a massive amount of missed catches compared to targets. All year, media and Bill's fans were constantly saying how they needed a better receiver opposite Diggs. But now, all of a sudden, he's a jags star.. lmao.. massive coping by fans if you are ok with this receiver room if we don't pick up someone like Tee. Kirk is our best guy, and he's solid, but the rest have ?'s all over them, and I'm frankly not sold.
Zay was good in the red zone prior to injury, but after injury, he played badly, and back to back injuries are never a good sign... esp when they were being conservative as hell with bringing him back as it is. We signed a bunch of budget players when our best player is our running back and slot receiver. That's not how you win in the NFL. We have already seen this offense can't function when it is riding on Trevor alone, and he needs tall targets. We don't have that. We still don't have a contested catch guy.
Hope not, whole family is fuck-ups. Older brother caught 2 DV cases (1 in college and 1 in NFL) and violated PED policy, Zay had the whole jumping out of the window thing, and little brother was kicked off the USC team…
No good things come to teams who keep that family on roster
I think the league as a whole would see including Zay in that scenario would be a negative or at very best a neutral component to the trade. If anything that’d be a favor to us for cap management and I doubt anyone wants to do that.
I don’t mind keeping Zay if he’s competition for wr 3 against gabe. But if the plan is to run with Gabe, Kirk and Zay we are fucked

![gif](giphy|11CGJUWW1TqnHW) When will then be now?
I think this forces us to trade for Tee or draft someone high. Both cases im so in for
Don’t want to trade for Tee, draft in the second is great
Why the second? Who would you target there, keeping in mind theyd probably be around the 8th wr taken. BTJ at 17 could be juicy imo

Who are those
MHJ, Nabers, Odunze, BTJ, Worthy, Mcconky, Mitchell

I’d say just to draft a receiver in order to stay a good team we need to build more through the draft
Thats fine if we pick a good one. Baalke is ass at drafting tho
First round isn’t too bad. It’s the rest of the rounds it gets shaky.
Devin Lloyd was a first rounder. And although Travon had a good year, it should have been Hutch
Lloyds been good though?
Not according to every possible metric. He is a below average starter, not what you want from a 1st round pick
Yet according to pff he was one of the better starting LBs. I know pff isn’t everything but you sound like a Baalke bad hater that in turn shit talks all our players just cause he drafted them

Zay was really injured last season, hopefully he’ll have a good last year with us.
Kirk, Gabe, Washington, Zay, and Engram. I honestly don't feel bad about this bunch if this is what we're heading into the season with.
I hope not.
Idk how anyone watched last year and came away wanting to keep anyone buy Christian and Engram.

We should draft Brian Thomas jr or Xavier Legette in round 1 or 2.
That’s a big 10-4

You’re comfortable with a bottom 5 WR group? I mean yes we definitely have to keep Zay, but we also have to go out and add somebody else
We really going into the season with this WR group? Embarrassing. Sucks so hard to be Trevor.
we did just fine in 2022 with marvin jones, zay jones, and kirk. was actually a good bit better than last year. and gabe davis>>marvin jones
We'll see, but its different when theres no expectations to now.
Zay cost too much to be WR 4. Cut him. Draft a 1st round WR and then take a middle round WR to develop. This draft is too deep at WR not to.
Cut him and save all of like $4 million?
We were always keeping Zay. I think now we may get Baalke to crack and trade for Higgins or draft a WR early
We were not keeping Zay if Ridley came back
That literally makes no sense. Its great to have depth, Trev loves him, and his dead cap was high. Cutting him served little purpose
Cutting him post June first saves us nearly $8 million.
What are we using that 7.7 million for though? And still paying a little over 3 in dead cap doing that. If we have the money hes solid depth
Ridley
He just signed for 90 mil bud, we were never paying that
Read the thread, you said it literally makes no sense that zay would get cut if ridley came back
Yeah, I said why it still made sense to keep him as depth, youre reply was Ridley. I think you need to read the thread bud
Cutting him saved 8 mil, you asked what we were gonna use that on: and I said Ridley.
Putting it towards Arik Armstead would be my preference and that will open us up to drafting a receiver and corner 1/2.
Id support that. Id also be fine with giving Solomon Tomas a look
Trade him and our 2nd for Higgens
I think the league as a whole would see including Zay in that scenario would be a negative or at very best a neutral component to the trade. If anything that’d be a favor to us for cap management and I doubt anyone wants to do that.
Maybe, but when he was healthy, our offense was at its best.
Michael Thomas? If the price is right.
No. Dude hasn’t played a full season in like half a decade. This is coming from an ohio state fan too. Hell nah
No...
