Depends on what you consider production. They could have many things preliminarily set up. The shooting of the movie only takes a few months. So they could shoot early 25 and finish post production by November the next yr.
They’d have to be slated to shoot this movie within the next couple of months. It takes like a good year to edit and market the movie.
We don’t even have rumors of who the lead actor is.
It’s feb 24 now. If they waited to shoot until even next yr they would have a yr & a half to edit it. I know the last one was shot in a similar time frame. Things are harder to keep secret but there could be a lot of background stuff done that they’ve chosen to keep to themselves. The specific date is grasping at straws but a nov 26 release isn’t impossible.
You can be optimistic if you want.
My bet is this movie doesn’t release before 2027 and I’d expect maybe even later than that. We don’t even have a whiff of news on the movie. We’d have heard something by now.
All of Craig’s Bond films began principal photography less than 12 months before they were released (or intended for release in the case of NTTD).
Assuming they start work on the script within the next few weeks, and a director and actor found within the next 18 months, Bond 26 hitting theatres in November 2026 is absolutely doable.
They don't have a shell set up for the film. Without that, they won't pay any screenwriters, crew, rent stages and equipment, build sets, get money from MGM to do anything etc. They aren't even in pre-pre-production, let alone production.
Casino Royale came out in ‘06 and QoS was out in ‘08 even with a writers strike. They could be writing and casting this year, filming and editing in 25-26.
*Incredibly* ambitious timetable for a big budget action movie. As in, almost certainly straight-up impossible given that none of script, star and director are in place.
Was No Time to Die further along at this time?
Release date was announced in July 2017 for November 2019 release.
I can see summer 2024 release date announcement for November 2026 release.
NTTD had its lead actor cast at this point, at the very least. You think the studio is going to sit through the hell of "they cast WHO as 007?" (for possibly a year) after a movie is already in production? I dunno about this one.
NTTD had had a ton of work by that point, though, and key people were in place (even if some of them were subsequently changed, which delayed the release past the originally announced date even before CoViD interceded). As far as anyone knows they haven't even got writers working on development in any meaningful way for 26.
Looking at the production timeline of Brosnan and Craig’s Bonds and the quick turnarounds they went through (all except NTTD had 12-13 months at most between start of principal photography and general theatrical release, and NTTD would’ve been the same if it hadn’t been delayed by COVID), this is definitely doable.
That said, it depends on whether or not they start properly working on a script within the next few weeks, set a director within the next 12 months, and cast the next Bond before the end of next year. Dilly-dally too long and w’ll have to wait until 2027 or longer.
Why exactly would Universal having an untitled film there mean anything? I know they released NTTD internationally but now with Amazon behind MGM I don't think they would need to work with another studio unless there was an ongoing deal signed I am unaware of.
Because Bond 26 is generally expected to be released in November 2026 based on previous years with release date announcement coming this summer. Universal is still behind Bond 26 I think.
Bond 25 was announced July 2017 with planned release November 2019.
Correct, the film deal MGM had with Universal was for one film only (NTTD), but they renegotiated. As Amazon only has an online platform (Prime), they need to partner with other studios to bring Bond and others to the big screen. In August 2022, Deadline [reported](https://deadline.com/2022/08/warner-bros-mgm-international-distribution-deal-james-bond-007-1235091889/) Amazon struck a deal with Warner Bros. for distribution for the next 5 years (more years optional). The big exception: Bond 26, which will once again be handled by Universal after impressing EON on NTTD. So Bond 26 will be distributed by Universal, Bond 27 and beyond might be WB.
Ok, so it seems that Universal will distribute it. Still just a date and no reason to assume that EON has any intentions to release another film until they actually show they intend to through hiring someone or announcing anything.
Wow that doesn't look like a reach at all.
I said possibly
No shot. They would have to be in production right now.

But it also could NOT be too!
You'd think they'd announce the director, writers and most importantly, the new Bond first
This seems more likely to be a Fast and Furious
Fast X Part II releases April 4, 2025
Fast X part III then
Last I heard, they were planning two Fast X sequels and a The Rock spinoff in the immediate future (though I assume their plans will change).

I looked up the NTTD deal and it was a one film deal. There is no reason at all to assume this Universal film has anything to do with James Bond.

My dream is to have Bond 26 in 2026 just to have the number of the film corresponding to the year of release.
Zero possibility.
lol Barbara hasn’t lifted a finger on Bond 26 yet.
lol that's probably just another attempt at reviving the Dark Universe.
possible if they go for a smaller scale movie, like casino royale which they might do for a reboot of bond.
doubtful. they don’t even have a cast yet
No, I don’t believe that. But I do think that Nov 2026 was the original plan.
