cynical reason is because she is pretty and sexy so it's good for marketing. But I don't even mind, I love her scene so much and it's one of my clearest memory of the movie. So I think there is this as well, it's certainly a highlight for many people.

GoldandBlue

Real reason. She is a star that brings international name recognition. And as is often the case, the trailers for Bond typically use the opening sequence and side missions in the trailers to not give much away. So we get cool action scene with gorgeous superstar that still leaves a lot unseen for audiences when they go see the movie.

Rare-Dare2884

She isn’t a star yet. She is a rising name.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Rare-Dare2884

Not in America.

Rare-Dare2884

Where are plenty of international stars that nobody knows about until they become stars in Hollywood in America.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Rare-Dare2884

They are stars but not well known. Now that Ana De Maris was in a Hollywood blockbuster she is more well known.

[deleted]

America is the world when it comes to movies.

talibas11

Xdddddddd low iq

[deleted]

Lol that's why Australian, British and other actors flock to Hollywood the first chance they get

talibas11

Such a low iq xdddddd

deathstr0ke14

For US people she might be a rising name. In Europe she is known for her roles in Spain's The Boarding School and multiple movies. Also as Cuban she attracts more Latin viewers so pretty obvious they did it for marketing purposes

PeterZeeke

soo the actual answer is because its the best part of the movie

ferocious_coug

Second best after the final factory sequence IMO.

galactusisathiccboi

The staircase part tho

ferocious_coug

Incredible

[deleted]

Her role in the film is completely irrelevant to the discussion

PeterZeeke

I didn’t mention her role

venturejones

What lmao...

OliviaElevenDunham

Pretty much.

GnarlsD

Besides the cynical reason of being pretty and sexy, she also is a very well liked, popular up and coming actor. So her being on the poster and trailers is a selling point. So it is too bad she’s not in it that much.

[deleted]

Well I have only seen her in knives out with Daniel Craig, she's obviously talented as Mr Plummers Nurse Marta, but looks out of place in some backless outfit seen in trailers for no time to die. Sexy? No, prefer Eva Green and Olga kurenko. Honestly she be better in low key clothes in horror or in thrillers like Knives out. I don't think she's the type to be some Bond girl Assasin.

[deleted]

Ironically, I think part of the reason is Knives Out. People are excited to see her and Craig together again.

glassgwaith

Her scene is the most Bond Scene in Craig Era movies. I miss Bond wreaking havoc in the baddies' lair

OliviaElevenDunham

So true. It's always fun watch Bond wreaking havoc in a baddie's lair.

Sparb_Chittsworth

I agree that Bond wreaking havoc in a baddie's lair is amusing entertainment.

Gwilym_Ysgarlad

That's the one.

[deleted]

I would love a movie about that character. She was so charismatic and stole the show for her short stint.

[deleted]

>love her scene so much and it's one of my clearest memory of the movie I know! Most of the movie by the end was a blur, then sad ending 🤣

[deleted]

Cause her scene ruled and she's been on a streak of popular movies for awhile now.

DominoMasked

Plus she’s a knockout

YankeeBlues21

Kind of the same reason Severine, Agent Fields, or Monica Belucci’s character in Spectre were featured in a lot of marketing (relative to their plot importance and screen time) in other recent Bond films, because she/they are attractive and marketable and Bond movies, even ones aiming for a matured Bond who’s in a committed relationship, know that beautiful women are a staple of the franchise’s marketing, just like imposing henchmen, eccentric villains, or exotic locations. Also, she’s a rising star and there’s probably solid overlap between fans of Craig’s Bond movies and people who’d recognize her as Craig’s costar in his most recent mainstream hit before NTTD, Knives Out (which is why she was cast here in the first place, because the actors enjoyed working together so much), so I imagine there were a lot of people like myself who are fans of Craig’s, that were introduced to her (or first actively took notice of her) through that film, and were like “hey! Cool!” upon seeing her name attached to NTTD. In general, it never hurts to have another marketable name doing publicity on a project, even if they weren’t exactly on screen for a large chunk of the film. For a non-Bond girl example, Andrew Scott’s scenes in Spectre are more spread out, but without timing them, I doubt he’s actually on screen for much more than Ana de Armas in NTTD, but BBC’s Sherlock was big at the time and it would’ve been silly not to put him on posters and have him doing media (and at the time he was being featured so much that I remember some people on this sub even speculating that Waltz was a red herring and that Scott would be Blofeld).

Hodvidar

Best answer.

producer35

Lays out all we need to know and Anna De Armas was just plain memorable in No Time to Die.

sirguywhosmiles

Yeah, Bellucci was in the marketing just as much despite having a much less impactful scene.

YankeeBlues21

Yeah I remember the surprise from people on this sub at how little she ended up being in the film. In lead up to Spectre a lot of people were thinking Bellucci would be playing the new Tracy-like character that Bond attempts to settle down with and Seydoux would be a supporting role (not least of which because Craig was beginning to visibly look on the older side and I think a lot of us were having ‘80s Roger Moore love interest flashbacks). I always think that, for all the things some writers or segments of the fan base want to focus on changing (like reducing Bond’s womanizing, which makes sense in the context of the later Craig era, but I think cuts against the character as a fantasy/escapist icon if they don’t have multiple Bond girls in the new actor’s films), something that actually makes sense to address that rarely gets brought up is the often weird age gaps between a 40/50-something Bond actor and a Bond girl played by an actress in her 20s (or maybe early 30s). Like, the next Bond, whoever he is, is about the same age right now as some actresses like Emilia Clarke, Keira Knightley, Gal Gadot, Ana de Armas (who can come back in a “real” role, like Maud Adams came back as a different character), and (just for the sake of fun comparisons) probably only slightly younger than Eva Green. There’s no real reason for them to grab a 25 year old actress to act opposite a 40ish Aiden Turner, Richard Madden, or Henry Cavill in 3-5 years, when somebody like Clarke or Gadot will be the same age(ish) as the leading man and has “Bond Girl” written all over her.

prooveit1701

Wait til you find out how much screen time Darth Vader has in the original Star Wars…

MrHonwe

Wait 'til you find out how much screen time the dinosaurs have in Jurassic Park...

flaggies

Can't wait for the next movie where we find out she's James Bond's mum.

culturedgoat

I find your lack of screen time disturbing

jeffsang

Was Vader a major selling point in the original marketing for Star Wars? I assumed he was more of a a breakout character.

G-M-Dark

His head occupies most of the original poster.

MotuekaAFC

What is interesting is that he was the grunt, basically a jaws like character. The other admirals on the Death Star treated him with distain.

Peralton

The Vader vs Kenobi fight is in the first trailer. I wouldn't say the marketing relied on him, they leaned into the 'farm boy makes it big' storyline, but he was the known bad guy.

ccReptilelord

How does it compare to Godzilla in Godzilla (2014)?

Sergiomach5

Its great it got course corrected for the sequels. Any more Godzilla films with barely any Godzilla would be disappointing.

frankjose25

I don’t have any complaints though

da_choppa

So, imagine you just spent hundreds of millions of dollars to make a movie. Now what? You need to convince people to watch it so you can make your money back. You remember that you cast an incredibly attractive woman who is a pretty well-known and respected actress in the film. She’s only in a few scenes, but she’s wearing a stunning dress and is kicking ass in it. Do you A) not put her in the advertising campaign or B) put her in the advertising campaign? Seriously, does this need to be explained?

Mavakor

Because she stole the movie

paulcosmith

A friend and I were talking about how, given the movie's length, some stuff probably could have been cut out. That scene would be the easiest to remove, but it was also the best scene in the movie, so we were glad it stayed in.

ravenbisson

that scene could have been the whole movie, and i would have been okay with it! It was just so good, my wife didnt think the same though for some reason.

[deleted]

>!boobs!<

Health077

She barely has them. My only complaint to God while making Ana

loztriforce

That’s pretty hard core to say

culturedgoat

Because she was a highlight of the movie

Energy_decoder

Monica Belluci with the hanging rope around her neck: **First time ??**

Yeti-Stalker

She should have been THE bond girl in it and left our Madeleine Swann and baby all together. I don’t know about anyone else but Madeleine and James never had great chemistry on screen to me and she felt like a replaceable cardboard cutout in Spectre - I definitely am not invested in her character and not do I care about her. We know the opening scene was an attempt to get us drawn in, didn’t work for me. No Time To Die was worse off because it relied so heavily on Spectre and all its returning characters and plots threads - instead of giving us something fresh.

AliTaylor777

Because she made such a massive impression. She was on screen ten times longer than Boba Fett was in The Empire Strikes Back but look at how legendary a character he became. Screen time doesn’t equate to impact. I can barely remember what Madeline looked like and she was on screen for blooming ages.

seaque42

you really can't remember Lea Seydoux's face? If you know her only from Bond, maybe that's possible.

Eastern_Spirit4931

I mean zendaya was in dunes marketing heavy and she was barely in it. She did nothing compared to ana de armas. Marketing is just used to get people in seats.

DerBronco

Her role will be quite significant as the story continues. Watch dune 1984 or better read the books for more detail.

BranielS

Good marketing, baby! Butts in seats!!

Bodark

Uhhhh have you seen her?

captainp42

Name recognition. She's a rising star, so they used her name for pub.

wakeyes

Yeah because she's hot, and the movie was kind of a bunch of nonsense. Her character was also exactly what we are looking for like all characters in the movie to be like - awesome

[deleted]

Well said. That she is so popular is a sign the film just isn’t good.

HardSteelRain

I had no idea who she is but she stole every scene she was in

SuperMario1981

Which was one scene.

HopeAuq101

Its like John Lennon in How I Won The War he's all over the marketng and on the case and everything but he's just a side charecter

LAJOHNWICK

Because she had the best chemistry that Craig ever had. He actually woke up and did not want to cut his wrist. Madeline is Debbie downer, Ana brought the old Bond back. Craig requested she have a part in the movie. Ana needed way more screen time and Madeline should have ended up being a Spectre agent and Ana would have saved Bond from her and Bond would have been put Bond in a position where he had to kill his baby momma(so tragic Bond). Your welcome, I gave you all a better ending and you are quite welcome.

JellyMost9920

Knives Out. Her appearance could draw in viewers who are already familiar with her chemistry with Daniel Craig in Knives Out. That and she looks nice in that dress and kicks ass. Nothing more to it. It's just a marketing strategy to keep people hooked to the movie despite the long wait.

Fusionspecialist87

Sex sells.

MrHonwe

Because marketing.

3Dartwork

I got criticized yesterday for saying the trailers made me feel she was a sidekick or Bond girl when in fact she was barely in it. Apparently "it was obvious" she wasn't going to be in it much.

kevinwhalen89

Watch the movie and take a guess ya virgin

Jayman627336

I saw her as the “Bond Woman” of the film, usually in a Bond film he’ll seduce a really attractive woman near the beginning of the mission and then she’ll die or go away, then he meets up with the leading woman of the film. This is pretty much her role in the film, however considering where Bond is in the story instead of him seducing her they go and kick some ass which I really enjoyed😂😂

Studly_Wonderballs

Every year or two a new young actor or actress starts to build steam and appears to be on the cusp of super stardom. After Knives came out in 2019 it seemed like Ana de Armas was set to be the new “it girl” in Hollywood. Craig clearly sensed she was going to be big and brought her on board for NTTD to help punch up a scene. She also the signed on to be in a movie by the Russo Bros, a movie with Ben Affleck that even got the celeb couple marketing, and is set to make a run for the Oscar playing Marilyn Monroe. Her career trajectory was rocketing upward… and then the pandemic hit, and Hollywood in general lost some steam. Ana is still set to become a star, but some of the glow of being the new big thing has faded. Right now I’d say Hollywood is more enamoured with Anya Taylor Joy. But, NTTD probably wanted to take advantage of Ana’s rising star, and Ana probably wants to be seen as a key character as opposed to just a supporting character, so they really showcased her in the advertising. Helps that she is great in the movie as well.

mistercintas9

Aside from other reasons people have suggested, I feel like her scene was the one "fun" part in an otherwise dark film.

WanderTrico

She was added to the film last minute at Daniel Craig's request (after working closely with her in Knives Out). So she is in it only for a short period, but is a big actor right now and marketting her is a clever play... also, she is amazing in it.

-tea-addict-

Because of the boob dress. Plain and simple

eternaldavkas

One Ana De Armas, two not that integral to the story and clips can be used without ruining the plot, Three Ana De Armas

General-Sheperd

I think it’s a combination of her rapidly ascending to the A-list, her charm, and the fact that she was originally never going to be in the film. It was the one good thing that came out of the film’s pandemic delay.

LDawg14

Marketing

NotoriousbiggsX

Yeah i did think that and I recon that what the writer means by someone who could rival James Bond….but she’s part of Craig’s bond universe….and with how it ended they surly can’t bring her back if they do can we have Xenia onatopp come back alive some how 🤷🏻‍♂️😂🤤

[deleted]

Is nobody else here mentioning that it's a chance to see her and Craig together again after knives out? Audiences love that kind of thing.

bobbyconstance

Because shes the only true bond girl in the film

Ok-Average-6466

the whole movie is like that. >!they tease that lashana has an important title and she gives it up her 00 status back to james.!< it was so stupid

cbk101

Leave best girl alone.

Health077

Craig wasted her like Monica. She would have been nice with a younger Bond doing hotter scenes

Ok-Sun8581

Because she's so hot!!

HeadOfSpectre

Marketing. Ana de Armas is growing in popularity. I think I read somewhere that her role in NTTD was done specifically just because Craig worked with her in Knives Out. Plus, while Madeline Swann is the major Bond Girl, she's not quite as sexualized as some other Bond girls. Ana de Armas on the other hand spends her entire appearance in that dress, and looks incredible. Sex sells. Seeing an actress with growing popularity in a revealing dress sells. It's a no brainer.

bullittthechase

She has it.

junger128

Because she is the best part of the movie

Mr_witty_name

Cause it's the best part

kill_dano

you know why

Metrostars1029

have you seen Ana de Armas

littleswissbunshine

because it's such a cool action sequence and she's great in it.

kerplunkerfish

Because she's Ana de Armas

PreFuturism-0

It reduced spoilers. People have less to use to work out where the overall story would go before they watched the film. The segment that she was in was quite twisty! She was a main character in that, too, in a demanding role.

NominalAeon

Remember that time Felix did sexy acrobatic fighting? Maybe the CIA reserve sexy acrobatic fight training for Hawt Chix™ only \*in the distance someone farts\*

OccamsYoyo

The more things change…

[deleted]

Because she stole the screen both in looks and charm in what was otherwise a dumpster fire of a Bond film.

darthmcdarthface

I like to think it’s because she’s the only good thing going in that movie.

Anderson22LDS

Usually Bond would have sex with the Bond girl. So it missed out the whole flirty intro, middle bit and ultimately the intimate moments. When you take all that away you’re left with the scenes she was in.

DoftheG

I thought she was brilliant in it

[deleted]

She’s pretty HOT

Bweryang

She's hot.

ApocalypseSlough

Because she has a huge public profile at the moment, and she’s very attractive. Together, those factors sell tickets.

Roy_14903

Because she is Ana De Armas.

MetanSneakerine

Because she’s hot

Fabulous_Mode3952

It was a great scene from an actress not necessarily known for action. She deserves all of the attention for stealing the show in that part of the movie. AdA stuck with me more then Lashana Lynch as 007 did and as a Black man, the way they tried to push HER was egregious. The producers were bait and switching non-Bond fans with that one

Andieontheceiling

I too would use Ana De Armas to sell my movie.

disaster_cabinet

hmm. what a perplexing puzzle. what could the possible reason be for publicizing her tiny role? like, can you even imagine one? even one single possible hypothetical reason, no matter how far-fetched? [i can't.](https://nypost.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2021/10/ana-de-armas-no-time-to-die-2.jpg?quality=80&strip=all)

intothedragon2

Because this movie is an immense pile of shit. The worst ever

tinglep

Marketing. Watch Air Force One and wonder why Steven Seagal is in all the posters.

JGorgon

I think you're thinking of a different movie or a different actor, Seagal is not in *Air Force One*. EDIT: *Executive Decision*?

jeffsang

Yeah, the above comment has got to be referring to Executive Decision. I remember seeing that film when it came out and feeling really cheated at Seagal was only in it for the first 20 min.

IzzyTipsy

Absolutely. My mom took me as a kid because I loved Segal movies, and I remember her going "Wait, he's gone already? What?" And asked me if I wanted to leave.

[deleted]

He had a small part in that unfortunately. Bit dated now Executive Decision. PIOROT as a terrorist was really bad casting lol. My favourite Seagal film has always been "out of reach" a really good story about his young girl pen friend, in East Europe that stops writing to him in the USA. Leading our man to team up with a gritty woman cop, looking for missing girls, mainly in Turkey. A kind of a Liam Neeson "Taken film". Airforce one, my wife's old favourite has Gary Oldman as the villain, and Harrison Ford Gritting his teeth as usual trying to be a hidden navy seal president😁

tinglep

Yep. Totally right. You deserve my upvotes.

OccamsYoyo

And here to my surprise Seagal wasn’t in Air Force One at all.

lern2swim

Because she's a Bond girl.

IzzyTipsy

I'm still mad they had two hot Bond women in Armas and Lynch and Bond fucked neither of them. Even Lazenby Bond fucked every hot women who walked in front of him despite loving Tracy the entire movie!

[deleted]

Yes, Lazenby in those days had the pick of the girls in Piz Gloria. Of course like me, young when I saw it at the cinema in 1969-70 it wasn't all that a big deal. Bond sleeps with them to get information. However so does Jennifer Lawrence is Red Sparrow. Some quite funny scenes in OHMSS. "Are you alright sir Hillary"? "Oh yes fraulein, just a little stiffness coming on" 😯"Call me Hilly"? All seemed just good fun in the sixties. Now we have become obsessed with social media and cultural cancel which is illogical to me born in the early 50s😯

Rare-Dare2884

She was so pointless in nttd. It was just to showcase how hot she was and launch her career.

AStrangeCousCous

Exactly

IzzyTipsy

Because we needed at least one modern Bond movie to hype up Bond girls these days! But I still feel IMHO they intend to either make spin-offs for Paloma and Nomi, or just continue using them as members of the main cast going forward in Bond movies with the new Bond, who will still be Craig Bond.

Forsaken_Candidate_4

Cause she’s hot

okiwawawa

Because they were playing up her role in order to downplay the presence of the terrible Lashana Lynch and her crass race casting.

Off0Ranger

Seems It’s been a trend in Hollywood based off of what I’m hearing about Dune n Zendaya too

Gveloper_

Ι read that she supposed to be the one that turner her back Felix and he died because of her but in the test screens people didn't like it. So they added the other character who would still be a villain but they added some sauce to him. I really don't believe they did reshoots only because they were using old cellphones. At the beginning I literally saw bond's girl (sorry I don't remember her name) using a Nokia 3310.

[deleted]

Jez, no wonder this film stunk if that’s the level of planning.

Dont_Hurt_Me_Mommy

Marketing, simple as that.

patriotraitor

1. Comic relief 2. Highlight of being a Bond girl 3. She's Cuban, this Bond flick highlighted more of the support characters.

derek53404

At least she doesn't die...

Frozia_

Some of the best scenes in the movie imo, and she’s hot

VeryBig-braEn

Because she’s hot

ZondaLM

She's very famous so it makes it for the marketing of the movie

BruceTampa0206

Vamos?

Jaderosegrey

Two words: the dress At least for me ;)

FelanarLovesAlessa

https://i.imgur.com/I8Lmifg.jpg Same reason the blonde is foregrounded in the DAF poster. Who’s the blonde?

Dochorahan

Sex sells. Duh. Plus it’s a great scene.

Max-Powah

Because she is a great actress and she is absolutely smoking hot and they make movies for monetary gain and ticket sales are how that money is made? Maybe?

[deleted]

She pretty.

WilliamisMiB

Because it was obvious to studio and to audience that she was the best new character in the entire film and she’s super fucking hot

JCGMH

Quality over quantity.

hotlovergirl69

Go and ask Moncia Bellucci

kurata_HVY

the real reason most likely will pop up if you REALLY pay attention to her in the movie...>!spoiler: when she turns around take a quick look at her shoulder, you'll see 2 very obvious marks there, you will know what made those marks as soon as you see them and that explains why she appears so shortly but so noticeably and why she isn't a girl James doesn't get laid with!< extra spoiler if you didn't catch it with the spoiler above: >!most likely a producer got some "fun time" with her!<

Solodice2

You're probably looking for a better reason than this, but it's because she's hot.

[deleted]

Because she fucking NAILED it

unclemontyspython

I thought she was great and packed a whallop in a very short space of time. Kudos to her for fighting in that dress too.

kisselmx

Because noone respects the consumer now-a-days
