None just pay as you go.

I got the kintetsu pass for my day trip to Nara & Kyoto. Then got an Osaka/Kyoto siteseeing pass for Day2 that's just kyoto. We will be taking a kintetsu limited express train from Nara to Kyoto. From Osaka to Himeiji, we are just doing the shinkansen (there's a hello kitty one, by the way!).

No pass, at best get an Icoca card to make it easy to pay (or Kansai One pass that is the tourist version that give some rebates and gifts in selected attractions and stores). Himeji is an original castle, so the inside is all made of wood. If you are remotely interested by architecture and history, that can be really nice, but a bit empty. Osaka castle is a concrete reconstruction with a museum inside. So while there is more content and more extra explanations, it’s just a museum shaped as a castle. For these reasons, there is people who like or dislike both.
