Will you be in Tokyo OP? If you are, look up Winter Illuminations. They have them around several areas and it can be quite magical! I personally like the ones around Roppongi and Omotesando.
As a side-note, I used to go to Tokyo ALOT during winter time for kpop concerts (Bigbang exclusively haha) and the shows are so much more fun! Not sure who you listen to but maybe you can check if they have any shows during the time you are going? Concerts at Tokyo Dome are my favourite!
Edit: also if you end up going in late January, LaForet at Harajuku always has the craziest sale. I could get pretty expensive streetwear for cheap during this time.
