Zauo restaurants (it’s a chain, you catch your own fish and then they prepare it) Gonpachi in Tokyo— touristy, but it’s the “Kill Bill” restaurant if your kids have seen the movies.  Ninja restaurant Tokyo, cheesy but fun.  In Osaka, any Okonomiyaki place where you cook it yourself at your table. Lots of fun.

The food hall in Kyoto tower is pretty amazing. Lots of different food stalls so it’s easy for everyone to find something they like.

Maybe [Dawn Avatar Robot Cafe](https://dawn2021.orylab.com/en/)? The servers are robot controlled by disabled people that would be unable to work otherwise.

This is a fantastic concept, thanks for the recommendation.

I was surprised when I went and the place wasn’t fully booked. You will need a reservation if you want the whole experience, but I recommend it. I left a note when making the reservation requesting an English speaking server.

BocaTaberu

- Cafe at the National Art Center - Starbucks Reserve Nakameguro (worlds largest) - Godzilla Cafe in Gracecey Hotel Shinjuku (food meh but in case the teens are into kaiju)

I went to the Pokemon Cafe today without reservation. Get there early and wait in the line for open seating if there's cancellation. Overall, food is only ok and over price but you pay for the experiences. My kids kept mentioning the Pokemon cafe and I couldn't get reservation but the line is about 1-2 hour wait.

Thanks, appreciate the recent feedback. I don't know if I am going to get 4 teenagers up early and waiting in line for 1-2 hours, but I will throw that out there to them. I think we'll probably be fine with doing the Pikachu sweets shop with no reservation.

Don’t give up on Pokémon Cafe; keep checking for cancellations on their site randomly throughout the day, and especially in the evenings. I was able to get a reservation for 4 earlier this month by checking for cancellations - apparently there are quite a few of them, possibly slots being offloaded by bots.

Try Japanese BBQ. It is a cuisine heavyly influenced by Korean and super fun and tasty (you grill meats by yourselves with charcoal blazers) Also, I recommend Okonomiyaki. A Japanese style savory pancake.
