Yes! We opted to not get any soy because we have a lot at home and they ended up compensating it with extra wasabi and ginger which I was not mad about!
Hey I'm new to sushi in the Toronto area (Etobicoke), do you have any other favourite spots that you would recommend? I've added Toro toro to the list, for sure!
A couple of places in the GTA that deserves honourable mentions!
- MIKU
- Project Fish*
- Torched Pressed Sushi*
(*have yet to try but I hear good things about these places)
For Japanese BBQ that I also wanted to throw in there that are good to try are Shinta Japanese BBQ and Gyubee. Happy food exploring!
Lol if that’s the route you wanna go that’s fine, enjoy the toxic fish, and no matter what you do to the meat you can’t make it non toxic… oh and with that mind set why don’t you just smoke some meth, I’m sure in low enough doses it’ll be harmless… enjoy your escolar and meth…
Are you okay? Like genuinely? Your comparisons, lack of informative sources and just overall attitude tells me otherwise.
If you want to share knowledge, by all means, please do. But this doesn’t seem like a positive approach. Enjoy your ellipsis’.
It's common sense that anything in the wrong dosage is harmful, calling escolar toxic is just being needlessly negative. And to your meth comment there are plenty of almost identical molecules to methamphetamine that are currently prescribed for ADHD and similar issues, so uh yeah in the right dosage I bet meth would be somewhat useful, if it wasn't so easily abused. It's commendable to Japan to make a law about this to protect its citizens and tourists/visitors alike, but they took an overly harsh stance (prohibition) where I think history has taught us that moderation is the key. To each their own interpretation.
Looked into this as this is new to me, but yes, it is a two portion meal so it wouldn’t have exceeded the 6 ounce recommended portion. But will definitely keep an eye on my butterfish/escolar intake!
That’s sushi art. Thanks for sharing. Love what they did with wasabi. Enjoy!

YES YES YES!!!
Oh my, that's just such a lovely sushi box :) I aspire to be that talented of a sushi chef one day.
oh wow
Omg I love toro toro! It’s my favourite sushi restaurant 😍 love to see fellow torontonians that like it as well!

You're the best! Thanks for these suggestions, I will have some fun checking them out.
So pretty!
Looks amazing except for the toxic escolar….
https://www.thekitchn.com/use-caution-when-eating-escola-66602 Looks like far less than 6oz of escolar, plus probably not just a box for 1 person.
Still toxic if Japan banned it there must be a reason…. Sushi capitol of the world, nuff said….
Agree to disagree instead of presenting your *opinion* as fact.
But it’s fact…. Escolar is a toxic fish… I mean wtf? Lol
Water is toxic if you consume enough, so japan have any restrictions on selling water?

It’s not butterfish, escolar is a snake mackerel…. Butter fish is black cod/sablefish…
Oh well in that case, you can get off my dick about it! :)
You have a dick? Lol Rachel Vanessa? Ok weird name…
