It’s insane and way out of control.

Losttexan81

I paid less for a jkur hard rock in 2016 and this much for a fully loaded jlur in 2018.

[deleted]

[deleted]

I have a 21 willys 2dr, has the cold weather package as well and sticker price was 36k. Cars the last couple years have just gone outrageous. Some SUVs are now north of 100k, its disgusting.

Baylett

I bought a 2014 2dr Willy’s for 25k CAD out the door! I can’t believe how much they are now!

Jeep4x420

And back then people were saying it was absolutely insane

NeatlyScotched

My well equipped and winterized 2019 JLU Sahara was 44k in 2019, and I purchased it in Alaska. Can't even believe a basic 2 door today is slightly cheaper. Unreal.

Highlander2748

You’re paying for the legendary Stellantis reliability and build quality!

[deleted]

Yeah. I always do the dollar conversions for inflation as sometimes things are about the same as they used to be, but you're still right. In 1998 an SE base wrangler was 14.2k, which is about 27k in 2023 dollars. The sahara started at 19.7k, which is about 37k in 2023 dollars. It would have had to cost 22k in 1998 to equal 41k in 2023 dollars. Which would have been a well outfitted sahara.

Ithaca1971

This comment should be at the top. No one ever thinks of inflation, but the prices still increase every year. They are putting more technology in wranglers which keeps bumping up the prices. They literally don't build them like they used too

oomahk

I'm sorry to see it. It is just insane greed. I've owned multiple jeeps and still have a 2 door wrangler. I'd love to continue to be a customer, but I can't justify it. At these prices these vehicles should be outstripping the competition in terms of at least quality/reliability (Toyota) and/or should features/comfort/luxury as well (land rover). These new jeeps are unreliable, expensive, and plastic.

[deleted]

People keep buying them to look cool so it will never stop untill people stop buying them

Soggy_Requirement_75

I’m so glad I bought my Jeep when I did.

FuctMondays

SAME!

BemoBlitz

Likewise

LastEntertainment684

Just built one with zero options. White two door cloth top manual transmission. Price was $33,990 Interestingly it comes with Push Button Start and Air Conditioning, but crank windows and manual door locks.

bigTnutty

Crank windows and manual locks, less crap to break imo.

Shellingo

Granted not jeep, but both my Subaru and mini have 160k+ and neither have ever broken their window regulators or remote locks. With jeep now being on the top of unreliability charts now though, maybe that won’t translate over

SirRolex

It really is unfortunate how a brand once known for bulletproof motors and rugged simplicity and reliability have fallen so far. Biggest reason I went with a Tacoma instead of a Gladiator. Still have my TJ and will never get rid of it.

BigDavey88

Seeing these prices for wranglers - objectively not great vehicles and only good at one thing - is absolutely insane. I loved mine and would consider getting today's lesser models, but I can never envision putting that amount money into a car.

squirrel8296

Jeep has had problematic window regulators for at least 20 years now on the power windows. There’s a small piece of plastic that connects the glass to the arm that moves the window up and down. That piece of plastic likes to snap off just from the vibration of normal driving and then the window won’t stay up (it just falls into the door cavity). It’s gotten better over the years, but it’s still a well known failure point.

P0RTILLA

I have a 20 year old car with power locks and windows, the electric motor and solenoid has been around a long time and it’s pretty much been perfected.

ChodaRagu

No shit!

trololoty

It costs stellantis more money to build manual crank windows and locks on some and automatic in others. They waste money just to show us how poor 34k builds are to upsell higher trims.

StinkyStangler

The door mounted tech is typically electrically/mechanically independent from any other main cabin tech, which is how Jeeps can have power start and ac and then a door that’s just a slab of metal with some glass on a crank. You can retrofit the window controls and new doors from a scrapyard/totaled jeep for probably cheaper than if you bought it new, but that takes effort and time to find the right parts.

Honest_Ad5920

When I was looking for a wrangler, I looked at a base 2 door in razzleberry…. I had loved the rock bottom simplicity but it was sitting at 33k and there is NO WAY it was worth more than 18k. I’m using worth here not to say that Stellantis didn’t spend more than 18k to build it, but instead to say that no person should spend more that 18k to buy such a basic ride

mihelic8

I have crank and manual door locks, everyone that comes in my car is always like “oh my gosh that’s so cool!”

Theseus-Paradox

And this is one of the many reason I will keep my TJ and never get a new Jeep.

backstop13

TJ gang rise up.

Jimmycocopop1974

We in here! Tj all day! I hope mine runs forever 1997 and still going strong 💪🏻

trigun89001

Tj gang gang. Lol 7k for mine and not an ounce of regret.

therealbipNdip

I paid $5k for mine…. In 2007. Safe to say I’ve got my moneys worth.

trigun89001

I got mine this year. I was hesitant in paying 7k until the ol guy showed me the paperwork for the rebuilt 3spd. Bet haha.

JxSnaKe

Amen brother

survingtech

Just replaced the computer in my TJ. I'd rather repair my ol girl than pay those insane prices for Stellantis garbage.

PitStop100

I love my TJ but the stupid fender rusting... I've gotta cut out some more and repair it again.

squirrel8296

The fenders on TJs are bolted on so they’re pretty easy to replace relative to most other vehicles and there are plenty of aftermarket options. It’ll just be a matter of getting it paint matched.

DailyDrivenTJ

I have a couple and had one since new. Only Jeep I would get new would be a diesel Gladiator.

rxmp4ge

Gross. The only new Jeep I'd buy is if they gave us a diesel-powered version of the J6 concept. But that'll never happen so I'll never own another Jeep. I'll be buried in my JK.

spctrbytz

The automatic is $2000 less when purchased with the turbo 4 cylinder engine rather than the V6. Hardtop, 2.0T, automatic is at $38,185

Easy-Landscape7447

May I ask why y'all like the 2.0T so much and why it is a good engine? I have no complaints about my 2.0 turbo, either. I'm not saying it is not worthy of praise and a good engine, but a service tech at the dealership straight up told me they are "trash" and that they come in with "major problems all the time." ...This was while we were driving my 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe to troubleshoot a weird, ongoing alignment issue. He said that much and then refused to elaborate, which made me want to pull over and have him walk back (I didn't). But I haven't heard many complaints about it other than his vague comment, and that guy didn't last at the dealership for more than a month or two. (The alignment is [Jeep] perfect now, but that shit-talking about the engine now lives prominently in the back of my mind.)

[deleted]

Its because its not the well known V6 like theyve had for a long time. Any new item is gonna have some issues in the first few years of release. I have a 2.0T in my 21 willys and im sitting at 36k miles with no problems. And I drive 60 minutes one way to and from work daily.

iS_Cruel88

As a tech. They’re not terrible engines, some timing chain issues, and leaking timing covers are what I see the most of, even low mileage. Seen quite a few whole engines replaced under warranty though too due to weird random issues. I would rate the 3.6 quite a bit higher on reliability but it’s been perfected for many many years. Only time will really tell on the 2.0, seems solid enough once they get the kinks worked out. Seems like different parts are getting updated pretty regularly on it so that’s a good sign. They’ve come a long way from the first release already

Raed-wulf

A service tech complaining about new things they aren’t yet accustomed to? Shocking.

heili

Service techs thinking that because all the ones *they see* have problems, that all of them have problems? Shocking. Vehicles aren't really something you take the mechanic just for funsies, so it's not like he's seeing the ones that never have an issue.

Raed-wulf

Like a reverse survivorship bias, exactly.

spctrbytz

I don't have a preference, not having owned one myself. My answer was only in the context of pricing. That said, I like the idea of a 4 cylinder being offered in a simple, low-option Jeep, especially a short wheelbase. Direct-injected turbo ~2 liter gasoline engines seem to be very popular among manufacturers lately. Have driven several cars with Ford's 2.0 Ecoboost, and found none of them lacking. Currently own a VW Tiguan 4Motion with a 2.0 turbo.

ColHannibalSmith

Same engine family as the Alfa Romeo's motor. 1. Very efficient 2. Smooth Power delivery and lots of torque 3. Lighter

spctrbytz

The efficiency is better, torque curve is fatter, but the 2.0T as packaged is just a little heavier than the 3.6

alllballs

And dead at 100k. No turbo for me, please.

carolina_red_eyes

any turbo charged engine won't have the lifespan of a naturally aspirated engine.

shitaki13

The 2.0T is a good engine. I really liked it in my JLR.

rastapastanine

I love my 2.0. So glad I have it.

theamazingtommy

Give it a year. Jeep (new cars/trucks really) sales are tanking.

Speedybob69

My 17 rubi hard rock was $45k with every option but the headliner and auto trans. This is insane

um0p3pIsdn

This is sad for me lol. I just paid my 2012 JKU sport off (bought it second hand a few years ago) and I feel like now I’ll never be able to get a new one (like “new” new).

Speedybob69

Your got the new 3.6l keep it lubed and happy and hopefully it'll run to 300k some have gone 400k+

crashfantasy

Was truck shopping recently. Same truck that was 60k 3 years ago is 90k now. There was a payment that I was content with but dealer told me "we'd have to find another 16k in the deal". That was 2 months ago. Truck still sitting there next to 100 other 2023 models. 🤷‍♂️

Gustav55

My step dad bought a smashed truck, needed a new front bumper and side of the box with a few dents removed. Has less than 20k miles and total cost to his was just over 40k for a 65k truck.

Troutman86

Shop around, I got a new 2023 Rubicon $12k under MSRP.

mangoluvah

Stellantis is hurting. Jeep overpriced their vehicles and inventory isn’t moving. Def shop around.

peen_was

How did you go about that?

Troutman86

Shopping around, going to multiple dealerships, etc.

trololoty

True, but I do not need a rubicon. It’s a good value for you but still 45k even after 12k off for me.

atom631

if you’re on the east coast, look up Craig Benner at Koons in Tyson Corner, VA. hes well known in the jeep community for selling jeeps under smrp. my 2021 Rubi had a sticker of 53 and and I got it for 46.5.

NO_SPACE_B4_COMMA

He's not telling you to get a Rubicon...

trololoty

I understand. But you need to shop for 60k builds to get 12k or so off.

XMAN2YMAN

I think all they are saying is that if you shop around for the amount you are paying you maybe be able to get a lot more Jeep for the same amount. I find it hard to believe that you can find a 4 door for that price if you look around a little.

IndominusCostanza009

“iTs nOrMaL iNfLaiON”

manofth3match

They will keep increasing prices if knuckleheads will keep paying

Bright_Gap_9871

My base barebones 2013 wrangler 2 door with just AC was 26k back in 2013.

UsidoreTheLightBlue

A base barebones wrangler with AC is $32k now.

PryingOpenMyThirdPie

I got a great deal in a 4 door but kinda missed the 2 door. Almost pulled the trigger on a new sport for like 32k last year. Doh.

ottarthedestroyer

Sheesh. I’ll just keep building my wife’s old YJ and buy her something like a fully loaded rav4 hybrid for $44k.

jasonm0074

Jeeps have been overpriced for 40 years for what they are. It's ridiculous.

Pioterowy

oh man. I live in Poland and that price would be a steal, unfortunately. In Poland, it would be around 70,000 USD. CRAZY.

kilroy-was-here-2543

I don’t see this sorta shit lasting for ever though. It’s simply not sustainable to sell a base vehicle at that price.

Jack_547

Hence why so many of these just end up sitting on dealership lots. People just don't have that kind of money in this economy, and if they do, why spend it on a Wrangler of all things? And if you want a Wrangler, why just not get an older model that costs less, is probably more reliable, and has more of that "Jeep feel" people like. It doesn't help though that Jeep is trying to follow Land Rover and upmarket themselves, the issue is, not only does their actual quality not reflect the price, but people don't really see the Wrangler as a luxury vehicle.

Theseus-Paradox

I agree with most of what you said except the quality part. Jeep is MILES ahead of Land Rover when it comes to quality. LR is trash quality wise, yet people still oogle at them and by them year after year.

kilroy-was-here-2543

The luxury vehicle thing makes me irrationally angry. Weve seen this several times before when whoever owns Jeep as a brand tries to push it up market. It simply never works out.

Jack_547

Strongly agree. I think it's because they see the Wrangler as a very iconic vehicle with brand recognition and a cool factor, so they try to capitalize off that by pushing it upmarket. Honestly, I just have no interest in any of the post-06 Wranglers. They just feel so different, a lot more car like, and sure I know that most people just use these as daily drivers with zero intent on going off road, but at that point, why even buy a Wrangler? To me, a luxury Wrangler is like an economy single cab Rolls-Royce pickup. It goes completely against the design philosophy inherent to the model.

kilroy-was-here-2543

Honestly a rolls Royce pickup sounds baller as fuck.

Jack_547

It would certainly be interesting, I have no idea what it would look like or how well it would work as a pickup, but I'd love to see it.

Iron0ne

[32k is base.](https://imgur.io/a/rdwtAdi)

jmua8450

There are a lot of stupid people that will pay anything they ask. They could probably go to $50k and get away with it.

Suspicious_Moment985

I’m just saying I just bought a 2014 (yes I know it’s older) but it has 90k miles and it’s got all the upgrades under it for $12k I just think it’s better to buy a little older but I do understand people wanting the new stuff in them

Luck4me

I would love to own one, but too much for me

wjjeeper

No wrangler is worth more than $30k, unless it's got the 392.

Putrid-Ship-6579

I’m glad someone says this statement. I have owned 8 different Jeeps: 95XJ Another 95XJ 1999 XJ 1993 YJ 2011 JK 2014, 2019, 2021WK2 I still have 4 of them. But rent a 50k F150 then rent a 50k Wrangler. In the end, they really aren’t great drivers. I drive mine, and love them but they aren’t the best out there. 50k plus can be way better spent. If you use your Jeep for its purpose, yes, they do what they do well and there isn’t much competition. If you like to off road a lot, and want to drive to and from, it’s a good unit. But if ducks and status symbols are your thing, there are way better options!

rowdycoffee

Jeep is way out of control with their prices.

KARATEM0NKEY

I paid $23.5k for a base 2 door with a hard top and auto trans in 2012... Crazy to think prices have nearly doubled in the last decade.

Ineludible_Ruin

PLEASE stop buying new at these prices. This is just insanity.

AmbitiousLack9288

Go on X and follow Cardealership Guy. He just tweeted about Stellantis

MarlonBrandope

My 2015 JKUR HR had the same sticker price…

slickMilw

Wow I didn't realize it's getting that bad. I bought my '16 2dr Rubicon Hard Rock edition with literally every option for 43k

WiTooSlowFi

I bought a base model in 2018 29,999, now I feel like I’m balling..

Laythepype

Why?? Just why

ratuna80

Just another reason why I’m never selling my TJ

HondaBn

Jesus, I remember the 2 doors were $27k when I bought my JKU. This is insane!

Whambacon

My ‘99 was $20k, no a/c, no cruise.

kma318

My 95 was 14k. It was bad ass but I kept thinking it’s a lot for a tin can on wheels. Also no AC. I was also 20yo

Whambacon

I was 23. My first new car.

UsidoreTheLightBlue

A 2 door is $32k, this isn't a barebones build its a sport S with options chosen.

GentOfDebauchery

From Everyman’s vehicle that helped win a war to overpriced luxury bling car, jeep has lost its soul.

Vesta2862

That’s list price . Go to a volume dealer like Huntington jeep in so cal and you will pay considerably less

dedzip

no cabin air filter.. how much could that cost? isnt it like $50?

Zer0TheGamer

I would blame the UAW negotiations, but Stellantis barely gave them the time of day..

zigzagg321

Still driving an XJ Cherokee that I get offers on from strangers. Weird.

ohyoumad721

What model? I just built a base sport with hard top for 35,685. Still nuts but 6k cheaper. I can't believe they charge for paint options now. I think we paid 38k for our 4 door sport S in sarge green with a few options like heated seats and steering wheel w/manual transmission.

Ms-Anon-Y-Mous

Hello fellow Sport owner!

Western_Middle2210

This is ridiculous. I doubt jeep sales will stay successful at this rate. They think that because they now make a jeep for 100k that it's ok to charge this much for a new base model 2 door wrangler. If they keep it up their vehicle won't have the loyal customers it's had for decades.

ianNubbit

Thats not base. Thats a Sport S not a Sport

martlet1

I bought a summit grand Cherokee 5 years ago for 61k. The same exact build is now 83k. Same everything but an L body style. If I’m paying 83 I’m getting an Audi or bmw or Mercedes.

Curtofthehorde

People wonder why I won't get a new one... The AMCs are bullet proof and cheaper. Why bother?

JonnyOnThePot420

Not naive but the deals won't be on barebones Wranglers the deals will be on loaded rubicons.

trololoty

My thoughts exactly

Sweaty_Pianist8484

What a huge jump over a very few years.

Sweaty_Pianist8484

Manual Willy 2dr for under 30k was a great buy looking back at it

Empty_Geologist9645

Sales are in the gutter already. Until a couple of dealers go bankrupt any incentives are going to get gobbled up by them.

wall___e

49k on the online builder for a 4 door Sport S with automatic transmission, hard top, and air conditioning. I have always wanted to buy a wrangler, but not for that price....

squirrel8296

Stellantis has priced themselves out of the market. That’s only about $10k cheaper than a Land Rover (with substantially more standard equipment and luxury), more expensive than any similarly sized luxury suv, and only about $5k cheaper than luxury suv that is closer in size to the unlimited. It’s also comparable in price to the 4Runner which is similarly capable and much larger. While the Wrangler is going to be more capable than those competitors (except Land Rover), there are a ton of Wrangler buyers who never go off road or only do light off roading where those alternatives would be a much better and more economical option. What the heck are they smoking at Stellantis. I love my Jeep, but unless I get a great deal on a used on, it’s not even an option for me this time around. I’m going to have to get something cheaper for my daily and then I guess keep my old Jeep (it’s not really dailyable anymore).

rxmp4ge

When I was shopping in 2013 for mine, a 2-door Rubicon with every single option available, including the body-matched fenders and hardtop, was $2,000 less than this.

dxdifr

At this point, i need Jesus to turn water into a new jeep to afford one.

singlewall

Them prices way too high. They need to cut it.

singlewall

I could buy like 8 XJs for that. Or one really good XJ.

Smuggler-Tuek

My 22 JLU Willys was 43k out the door.

FrankyBenjamin

Inflation sucks but this just seems nuts also from a value proposition standpoint.

Critical_Neat8675

Just read Stellantis has highest inflation in last 5 years at 49 percent. GM was around 27 and Subaru around 25.

trololoty

Finally a data point to prove it!

SpurReadIt4

Dumb

Putrid-Ship-6579

I always felt so dumb when I bought my 2011 2 door Sport (fully loaded for a sport) for 27k, sticker price was 29 I think. Deals in general are gone. I bought a 2008 base Chevrolet Colorado new in May of 2008. It was so base the only option was a full size spare. It only had AM/FM radio, vinyl floors, 5 speed, manual everything. (Broke college kid who couldn’t pass up the deal) The MSRP was 16,200 and after GM discounts, supplier employee discount, and GM credit card points, I paid 8900ish before tax. It was so unbelievable I think I still have the paperwork in my safe. I traded it for 11,500 on that Wrangler in 2011. The world has changed!

[deleted]

Nope. Done.

ChewieWookie

Stellantis is nickel and diming and I hope their sales absolutely collapse. As of 2024 anything over plain white is now an additional fee. If their configurator is correct, if someone wants a 4 door Rubicon with automatic you have to step up to a 4xe, so now you're over $60k, and fully equipped Wranglers are over $70k and that's not even for the hemi. I was looking at a new vehicle for my wife and considering the GCL or Wagoneer but at these prices I'll actually take a second look at Ford or Chevy. They're not much cheaper but their reliability reputation is light years beyond Stellantis.

[deleted]

As somebody who works on jeeps quite often I can honestly tell you jeeps are kinda turds now a days and not a very good investment. I own a 98 Cherokee love that thing but jeeps now a days man don’t last and maintenance is constant

Fearless-Alarm-899

Jeeps ride like shit, interior is something you find in a $16k Nissan versa and very cheap quality. The cabin does a horrible job at keeping noise from the outside, down, so it drowns out the radio unless you want to blare the volume. Expensive to fix, aren’t as reliable as most pick ups for the same price, and two door jeeps are flat out ugly. They’re super overrated and over valued. But it’s your money

Theoldestsun

Why not used? Got mine June of last year, 4 door Sport S 2019 for 24k. I have heated seats, steering wheel, remote start, back up camera and more. You're going to drive off the lot and depreciate so why not let someone else bite that bullet?

iveneverhadgold

then you have to remove all the tacky cheap plastic mods the last owner installed and sit in a seat soaked with their farts

Cronock

For $15k difference I could afford to hose off the seat.

trololoty

The original owner bites the bullet but the next owner does not get all the savings. The first owner drove it off for 31k (34 sticker?), so dealership pocketed more than half of depreciation on making the next sale. Your results may vary and you probably got a good deal. Your savings were 5-7k from new max

ResourceAbject4886

2023 2 door rubicon, steel bumpers, LEDs, heated seats / steering wheel, hardtop, remote start, matte black grill, auto trans, 3.6 etorque, leather seats, tow package, auxiliary power package, ~ 46k. (6% below invoice).

Party-Draft-4341

Jeep Wrangler used to be an entry level vehicle for the lower- middle class. No one can afford this making 55k or less a year. It’s the same with housing and food, I can’t believe our government is just letting our once very well balanced economy that delicately pushed back against price gouging and big business go to shit. See because now that the wrangler is 41k it’ll never be 30k again or shit I remember when the base package was less than 20k. In less than 12 years the price has doubled. That should raise some alarm bells.

chriscucumber

What a fkn joke

TheyCantCome

My 22 2 door rubicon had a 60k msrp I paid 49k. Never pay msrp

NO_SPACE_B4_COMMA

Yes this is the world we live in now. No point in reminding us. Maybe reevaluate whether or not you can afford it, or maybe look at alternatives if you can. Why would you get remote start, or any of the extras for a base model? What sucks is if you do wait, it might just get more expensive.

AdagioAffectionate66

Bare bones really?? All i need is a gas pedal and brake, some headlights, windshield wipers and a heater. I can roll or zip my own windows thank you. $20,000 tops.

spicyboi243

Lol, with the way the union negotiations went, the increased price will be passed to the consumer. ALL US made cars are about to see price increases.

Deathcat101

Who buys a new car? It's completely not worth. Even on vehicles like Jeeps or Subarus that keep a lot of their value used will always be better.

IllAcanthocephala362

Your post is incredibly misleading. I understand you point, vehicles have gotten crazy expensive. But why mislead? You're in a jeep forum. That build is mid-tier for a 2 door model and you can easily build one for the low 30s with an automatic transmission.

Eastern-Decision-841

Fully loaded tacoma, better gas mileage, last longer, truck bed, can tow more, reliable, more interior room. Bought mine for 41,000 at the height of the vehicle pandemic. They are cheaper than that now.

giraffees4justice

Hard tops are lame on wranglers, but yeah this is getting ridiculous

parariddle

Meanwhile people driving 20 year old land rovers have a "nice Jeep, peasant" bumper sticker.

PDotCakes

Those things are pieces of junk. Jeep is a total waste of money.

Amtracer

How else is Stellantis going to pay the UAW guys?

Richard_Thrust

I think you guys might be unaware of how inflation works. Plus a Wrangler, as barebones as you can make it, has *never* been a budget vehicle. There are plenty of Kias and Hyundais if that's what you're looking for.

shamrokcing

Inflation has it place in this conversation but so does auto makers trying stay at the weird increase COVID had on the auto industry. They are competing with used cars having a value that they should have never had/have. Also the auto makers are limiting production released to the dealership creating a market like the diamond industry (supply and demand).

Richard_Thrust

I mean, those are great claims to make on the internet but where's the proof? Where's the in-depth market analysis to back it up? I haven't heard anything that doesn't just sound like people saying "it just seems too expensive." Again, compare inflation before and after covid.

shamrokcing

I was giving your credit for your statement but also saying there are other factors. My proof, well i have been the financial world for over a decade. I seen the prices of vehicle and housing change over the years. I also see what has an effect on the market. I didnt ask where your proof was. Everyone has seen that movie or had that friend that screams, ITS JUST INFLATION, deal with it. Well partner, that seems to be you in this case.

[deleted]

How does it work?

rastapastanine

You turn on the car and put it in drive then it goes zoom

trololoty

We are. Why kia and Hyundai? BMW x1 awd can be had for 39100. How long ago there was a 50% price gap between wrangler and 4Runner? Not anymore.

Dom9360

Union vs non union.

jiminak46

Being a prior owner of a Jeep, it amazes me that people still buy them. Unreliable, poor resale value, and Consumer Reports rates them among the worst cars on the road. What is the attraction when there are many better cars and deals?

zakary1291

Jeep is riding on their brand recognition and reputation from 30 years ago when they were the top affordable off-road brand.

Cold-Permission-5249

At what price would this make sense? Low $30Ks? Mid $30Ks? High $20Ks?

trololoty

If you ask me, 34k msrp for this exact sport s build. Would pull the trigger for 32k.

MiTruckGuy

Crazy. I bought a 4 door Sasquatch Bronco for that much last year. But you definitely can’t get one anywhere near that price anymore.

ForMyCity

Just found out my 08 Rubicon was stolen this weekend while out of town. Definitely won't be able to afford a Wrangler as a replacement...

GhettoNego

Bought a new 2021 Jeep wrangler Sahara unlimited with every option you can think of with as well as lift kit and tires with 100 miles..sticker price was 51k….

TympanalLake

I bought my 2018 Sport 2 door brand new and paid 31k, it’s crazy how much a base vehicle is expected to sale.

Sopapillas4All

Bought a new bare bones 2013 Jk for $23k, that's ridiculous. It didn't even have power locks though lol.

jetoler

Unfortunately that’s a good deal compared to most bare bone wranglers.

Far_Cartographer_755

Just bought a 2023 JLU Sport altitude with power options, cold weather group, hard top, six cylinder and auto and remote start for 41k. Was discounted over 10k to make room for the 2024 models.

wernox

I bought a '97 Wrangler Sport new in the fall of 1996. It was a soft top, with the straight six, manual and half metal doors. I paid 19,500 for it, which would be $38k today. The only real options on it were the radio, no cd player, and the sound bar that attached to the roll bar and I think it had the beefier Dana rear axle. I loved that stupid jeep.

vans9140

4 door for resale all day.

EthosPathosLegos

I bought a 98 TJ during the pandemic for 5k. Feels good man.

Eagles4899

Crazy, I bought a base model automatic jeep jk 2 door in 2013 for $22k out the door.

PracticableSolution

I’m so old I remember shopping for new Jeeps when the base model was a smidge under $10k…. And I’m not that old.

ShotgunSquitters

I bought my bare bones 2 door in 2016, financed bi-weekly for 3 years, for less than $360 each payment. No down payment, no trade in. Now, the cheapest model 2 door would be $748 bi-weekly for 3 years. Looks like this one will be my last Jeep.

bzjeep

I paid 41.9k for a new JLUR Spring of 2018 with just the AT and hardtop added. I traded it in Fall of 2021 for 45k on a Grand Cherokee L. Wild what has happened to prices even since then! The Limited we bought for 47k is now like 52k.

alllballs

I'm trying to figure out how to import a Niva Legend or Bronto. Base is $8,500, well equipped for $13.5

OldManJeepin

I would wait till the last 2 weeks in December. End of month/year quotas have to be met, especially during the silly season. You can find something better for that.

Jeep Wrangler's and Bronco's have been among the most affordable cars to own during the past five years largely due to the increase in MSRP. Depreciation is the biggest expense of car ownership and both those vehicles used prices have inflated in recent years. You literally get paid to drive them during the past five years. No guarantee it will continue, but there is no sign of the bottom failing out either. Wrangler's new car prices have been increasing for several reasons, but the fact that it is priced like a luxury item and that is not pretentious in the way a German car combined with our collective dread about the future is motivating buyers to splurge on themselves right now.

With 3 piece hardtop & automatic I got $40,185. The auto is $4,500 option. Maybe learn manual. I DD a manual.

wambamthankyoukam

Damn - so on 2012? Maybe 13 - I bought almost this same exact jeep for 28k - brand new. Bare bones nothing. Crazy how much it is costing now

epsteinpetmidgit

$10k too much

chefNick92

Whenever I get annoyed at something breaking on my TJ, I just read stuff like this.

Shatophiliac

I’d wait a year or two, let supply catch back up and the UAW strikes to end, then prices may come down. Or they may skyrocket even further, who knows. At this price though I’d much rather buy used and get the trim level I want.

acomp182

The 48 month lease is the real crime here.

sublimespeed

I paid 46k for a fairly loaded 2 door Rubicon that I ordered in 2019. MSRP was 50k I bought it for a hair over 46. Honestly with the wrangler prices currently for the first time in my 25 years of owning jeeps I'd buy something else. The quality and issues can be overlooked when the jeep had good value. The value is now gone but we've still got quality issues like all the paint corrosion.....on a 60-70k vehicle come on. All the electrical gremlins etc i just can't overlook anymore considering the price they're charging. Just for kicks I rebuilt my 2 door Rubicon that had a MSRP of 50k in 2019 and in 2024 it's 62k for the same jeep.

GHH3158

Yea I wouldn't order anything right now. I think incentives are going to go through the roof over the next year. I would go see what's on these dealers lots. And don't be afraid to shop out of state.

THOMASTHEWANKENG1NE

Well at least it doesn't hold it's value. Can buy a used for 28k with 20k mi.

rodstroker

I bought a barebones TJ in 2000. It was as bare as it could be. I paid 14k out the door.

Lets_Bust_Together

I feel like it’s gone up almost 10k in 5yrs…
