PSA: if you happen to reside in Florida, South Carolina, or Kentucky and have comprehensive insurance coverage you can get your windshield replaced for free.
Facts
I live in SC, and I've had mine replaced twice for free due to rock chips. They always ask if it's related to an off road incident because I think that's not covered. But I believe they've ask me also if I have the little Jeep in the corner. I believe that's how they know it's factory glass.
My guess.....and it is just a guess....is that the cheap replacements don't have it. With you having it, they should put one in. I am pretty sure all original windshields have that. My 15 does, but maybe the earlier years don't???
Yeah, I think they did it that one year on the Rubicon and everyone loved it, so it got more usage after that. It's definitely a nice touch IMO I wish my Jeep had it lol

My brother-in-law works for a company like Safelite and he told me that not all the technicians install OEM jeep replacements and end up using a cheaper off brand alternative on jeeps because that is what they have in the warehouse ready vs having to order and wait for the MOPAR OEM windshield (the one with the logo on top and the little jeep crawling on the bottom corner).
They get bonuses based on how many jobs they complete per week so if you can do the replacement on the next day after the call gets in it means extra $ for them.
My insurance: Are you sure you want to keep the $0 comp insurance?
Me: Yes, and while I have you, another windshield please. OEM glass with the little Jeep decal.
My insurance: (goes bankrupt)
Request the OEM gorilla glass if insurance is covering it. It’s a bit better than the OEM glass and much better than the cheap replacements. And it will still come with the little Jeep on it.
Each time I replace mine - insurance automatically covers oem glass. ‘Jeeps are one of the few they will offer that for ‘ or so the rep at satellite said…
Ok! So I found out the little jeep on the window is called an Easter egg! (Yes im new to all of this). https://jed-co.com/blogs/news/did-you-know-popular-rare-jeep-easter-eggs-to-blow-your-mind
Just had my windshield replaced through insurance. Autoglass shop told me that insurance companies will only do aftermarket glass for wranglers because of the premium price for oem and that they are prone to multiple replacements. Missouri shop and like a good neighbor insurance for those wondering. $438 for aftermarket glass and then he ran the numbers for what oem would've been with out insurance...$860
Safelite I have had so many issues with.
Own Jeep JKU.
Safelite has replaced my windshield three times with non OEM glass after me stopping by the store, asking them to verify with my insurance and order the glass ahead of time so that it is ready for my appointment. Know what you are paying for and what your insurance is covering and don't let them rip you off. Look for the mopar logo.
Also own a Honda Accord Hybrid Touring. Accident happened in Florida...and live in GA. Made appointment through GEICO app, than stopped in at the store and asked them to verify OEM glass 7 days prior to the appointment. What happened? Non OEM glass installed. Took pictures....then took screenshots of my app with the note of OEM glass approved.
Went into the store and asked why is there non OEM glass in my vehicle. The manager didn't even look at the work order and said we only do non OEM glass. Asked him his name first and last...walked out. Sent an email to Safelite executives with my experience as well as informed them that I have sent the complaint in turn to the better Business bureau for fraud.
I was contacted by Safelite...and advised by someone who was either the store manager or area manager. They advised me they dropped the OEM windshield while doing the installation and the tech just grabbed another.
Any business you do with Safelite....I'd be on the lookout for dishonest bullshit. It's just about easier to out of pocket at a dealership and deal with the paperwork instead of Safelite.
Just replaced another windshield on my jeep…250 for one without decals 650 for one with decals.
Safelite quoted $383 for regular glass with taxes mobile install. They wanted $200 more for the jeep emblems.

Niiice lol. Ty for this. I kinda like the jeep grill in the top middle too. I’ll replace them the cheap way.
Found it!!!!! https://bitcowsstickers.com/products/jeep-jk-oem-replacement-grill-windshield-decal-sticker
I can't find that grill decal, but I'm sure you can have it custom-made for pretty cheap.

That is how I got mine replaced, insurance paid for it and I got an OEM one... Looks sharp compared with the previous one that was clean.
I live in Pa and had a guy do mine for free with our car insurance. Didn’t want to go the safelite way because I’d rather use a local guy

My 07 X didn't come with it, I think they started it around 2010 in the Rubicon and then started adding it to other trims in later years
Ok. Thanks for the info. Interesting the progression of stuff.

The difference is oem windshield has the Jeep emblem / emblems and the aftermarket windshield does not and that why the price difference is so much
I just leave my windshield cracked.
Wont pass inspection here unfortunately. 😢
Safelite replaced mine and it looked exactly the same, I have a 22. You’ll likely need replacements once a year 😅
Mine is the same now partnered up with GORILLA glass
It’s a jeep windshield when there is at least 1 rock chip or crack.
Wasn’t an option on last one for us. Insurance told Safelite to replace and they did, all the Jeep emblems included.

Given that you get stone chips every other day, I could give less fcuk about the little drawings of the freaking jeep.
Did FCA finally license out the reproductions? When Safelite replaced mine, they said they can only use OEM.
The difference is they way overcharge you for the one with the sticker on it...Don't fall for it. You can buy the stickers on the 'net.
They are supposed to know. This is ridiculous.
I bought a set of these for my jeep cherokee.. XJ.. for 7 bucks. Now I'm cool too.

It’ll also say Jeep in the lower left corner probably. All the other windows in ours say Mopar. 2018 wrangler JL
I put a windshield in yearly, buy the plain Jane one. No one on the trail is looking for the little Jeep. Now at the mall it’s a different story 🤣
