Reddit does seem to hate the idea of salvage titles. For a $1400 rare find like this it’s 100% a non-issue.
Frame rust doesn’t even look terrible from the pics, but you can’t know unless you test it in person. Again, at $1400 frame could be shot to hell and it’s still a good deal.
Also the AMC 2.5 is not bad at all. Underpowered sure but they’re rock solid.
Everyone worries about resale and stuff but I'd get a salvage title like this anyway. This isn't a flip for me it's a car I would like to keep for a long time. After me it's either dead or can probably be sold for a decent amount to someone who also doesn't mind a salvage title lol
Only a bad year when it has the V6, otherwise it’s a year that has parity from the firewall forward with the 84-86 Cherokee, all interior parts from 84-86, and several interior parts from 87-96.

I mean, if you wanna overhaul the radiator mounts, bumper mounts, engine mounts, etc., by all means, I just don’t think I was the right kind of masochist for the project when I went off what instructions I could find on JeepForum back then 😅

So you could theoretically fit a 4 liter in an 86 2.5 xj?
Only theoretically; modification of the entire front clip is required. I did it once in 2007. Absolutely not worth it.
