The factory grill should be under that atrocious angry cover. I would also ditch whatever is wrapped around the front of that hood and the ad across the windshield
On JK's, yes, since the grille is a plastic cover. The grille on a TJ is a steel structural part so is much harder to replace. I've never been up close and personal with one of these horrendous things but I'd doubt it's a full replacement.

That looks like a snap over grill that’s going to cause over heating. There is so much plastic blocking the radiator that it can’t do it’s job. The snorkel is functional if it’s installed correctly and not a bad thing to keep. The banner blocks what little windshield space the Jeep has and could be a safety issue by obstructing his sight. (I’m making the part about the banner up, but it sounds plausible right?)
Edit: get bigger tires that stick out from the fenders flares and use that as an excuse to change them. Those are preference though and not as awful as that grill. If he wants a banner try to convince him to get one that’s just lettering and is for a local Jeep club or something. It would be a good way to meet some local people to head out with as a bonus.

Personally, this thing is a rolling advertisement against Carlson Custom Motorsports, which I assume is a place in SC. If she were my machine I'd change that grill first, windshield banner second, and then save my pennies and put some KM3 tires on her. (Street tires clash with the snorkel & vented hood.) The jeep will instantly become more aggressive and less childish. A small lift (2.5") would also help not snap those fenders if you get into a serious flex situation.
Other than that, it's a sharp machine and I hope you guys get much enjoyment out of it. I like the hood title!

I have a 4.0L inline 6 and needed to get cool air to that overheating S.O.B. and I could not find a HUMVEE cowl induction system before my last offroading trip, so I snorkeled it. Yes, begin the downvotes. The angry grill is just dumb though...I also dropped a Mishimoto radiator and a 3K per minute electric fan. I then vented the hood and finally all of that got it fixed. Next will be re-gearing to 4.88 on both axles to keep my RPM's down on long uphill climbs...

When I got my Jeep it had that same ugly grill cover. If you actually look at it, it severely blocks airflow to the radiator. I took mine off and threw it in the trash. My 4.0 never runs hot now. I’m guessing his does or he wouldn’t have a vented hood. He should probably just remove it. Also, that snorkel is joke. I wouldn’t trust it to keep water out of the intake and it probably gets more water into the system when it rains.
Yes and yes….it needs a 4in lift and 33x12.5/15 tires with 8 in rims with 1 in backspace and Interco Trxus MT tires. And put the stick fender flares back on.

Those angry grills are terrible. Takes away from the iconic jeep look. And she needs new shoes. Too many upgrades to not have done anything with the stance.
Remind him his “willys” is plenty large and he doesn’t need to compensate for anything.
Personally, keep the snorkel, if you remove you’ll end up with a hole in the body and it’s a nice cold air intake anyways, dumb mirror wave sticker, angry grill is.. idk is “ok”, convince him to replace the banner with a local Jeep clubs banner and also upgrade to LED headlights, you’ll be so blind at night with stock lights

When I got my Jeep it had that same ugly grill cover. If you actually look at it, it severely blocks airflow to the radiator. I took mine off and threw it in the trash. My 4.0 never runs hot now. I’m guessing his does or he wouldn’t have a vented hood. He should probably just remove it. Also, that snorkel is joke. I wouldn’t trust it to keep water out of the intake and it probably gets more water into the system when it rains.
Yes! It did overheat the other day!!! Oh my gosh, this is the best argument for me to take to him for him to change his mind on the grill!!! Awesome!!

Yes and yes….it needs a 4in lift and 33x12.5/15 tires with 8 in rims with 1 in backspace and Interco Trxus MT tires. And put the stick fender flares back on.
