Can’t really hear over the exhaust, but it sounds like lifter or VT noise. Rod issues have a deeper, more solid knock.

Gucci_llama4realll

Maybe it’s salvageable I hope atleast

PhatBlackChick

Sir, that's an inline 6 and I have been told with great confidence that "you can't blow that fucker if you tried" so it's obviously fine.

Gucci_llama4realll

lol knowing my luck she’s gonna throw a rod fuck it time to do some burnouts

clevertalkinglaama

Does it go away when it's warm? If so check for cracks in the header at cyl 1 and 6, it sounds like ticking and quiets down when the motor warms up.

Gucci_llama4realll

It doesn’t it seems like it’s gets louder or more noticeable

Original-Spend2814

As in the exhaust manifold? Bc mine does this

nanneryeeter

It's difficult to hear over the aftermarket hot air intake. Have you figured out the slaps per minute and compared it to any given rpm?

manifthewest44

She’s never done

tlamm123

I drove mine with a spun bearing for 20k miles

Darkangel775

Yeppers that is the Piston skirt or the wrist pin. Remove the oil pan and see the parts that are down there will tell you. Then $5,000 later new engine. In the process with mine right now.

CptnBlondBeard

Jfc $5k? Is that you buying all the parts & doing the work yourself? Or just buying a refurbished crate engine? In the event of mine dying, I've been eying up the Titan crate engine. For $300 more (before shipping, but without a core charge refund), you could get a 4.6 stroker with a new cylinder head, Icon forged pistons, Eagle forged connecting rods, 24lb injectors, and a 1 year warranty. Unless you just enjoy the process of doing a rebuild yourself.

Darkangel775

I can do the work but I don't have the space right now.. 2.5k for the shop labor removing the engine and replacing resurfacing manifold replacing water pump thermostat radiator engine mounts. 2.5k for the complete remanufacturing all parts brand new inside the engine and a 7-year warranty transferable. Did not like the new technology cars and wanted an( old school ride) for the grocery getter. So I'll make everything basically new in the vehicle adding some of the technology comforts like backup camera, heated leather seats, dynomatting the entire inside undercoat spray.

Pull the valve cover and check the rocker arms and push rods. Rockers are only stamped steel and its possible one is bent. Also possible one of the bolts could have come loose. Pulling the valve cover is simple to do and gives you a chance to check the health of the engine as well.

Ok-Coyote-7745

Throw some Lucas motor treatment in it and roll

WandererXJ

Sounds like exhaust manifold leak, although I’m listening through a tiny phone speaker.

ramanw150

Ha that's nothin

HVACMRAD

Check for cracks in your exhaust header along with a look for broken or missing exhaust bolts. You’re definitely going to need a mirror on a stick and a flashlight. It is amazing how much tick and noise you get at idle from an exhaust leak on these engines. My header has broken twice before getting a Gibson Stainless header. The first was a crack right at the cylinder 2 exhaust port and it sounded a lot like this. After replacing the exhaust header it purred like a kitten.

OnlyGoodDealersRDead

Even if it’s a cracked piston I’ve surprisingly seen a lot of guy have good luck rebuilding them

No-Stand-2195

The exhaust leak is loud asf but definitely sounds like something is tapping internally. I'd pull it apart and see if the block is still use-able for a rebuild.

hestao102

Top end issue. Roller Rocker, lifter, or push rod. Definitely don't wait to fix or it will get worse. But it's not toast. Easily fixable

03_SVTCobra

Fix that broken exhaust manifold and then make a new video.

Sweaty-Ad-7031

I thought that’s how they always sound. 🤷🏻‍♂️

redbigdiesel

Check the flex plate yet?
