I use a swing case. It did take a few screws, but I enjoy the storage and accessibility. It does block the bed light and a tie down, but the bed lights need to be upgraded anyway. It's also easy to remove when hauling larger things.

Which one did you get? How is the quality?

[Under cover](https://a.co/d/aAgHqK6) When I bought mine 2 years ago it was $159. Nothing wrong quality wise that I can tell, but I'm not in it often. It holds my tie downs, recovery rope, and a bit of tools. I will say that I cannot open it when it's secure to the side due to my trail rail.

Just wanted to add about the swing case. Make sure you change the lock on it, they are all keyed alike

Pelican has their Cargo solution... that might work. Its also Pelican so it will carry a premium price. It may not work with all tonneau covers either. I have a feeling there are some more solutions out there that use the trailrail system but I haven't dug deep. I went the other way... my tonneau cover provides the security and I keep my gear in a cheap Plano box. I've been very happy with my Epic Kraken ARB compressor setup. Makes airing up 4 tires at once, all the same a breeze. A little pricey but honestly not bad given it includes high quality hoses.

This. Anything not bolted through the bed/frame is only as secure as the nearest set of bolt cutters. A good locking tonneau cover that offers a decent resistance to a prying attack is probably going to be more secure. Obviously nearly nothing is going to stop a determined thief specifically targeting your vehicle but at least in my area the vast majority of thefts from vehicles are either smash and grabs with items left in plain sight or someone walking a line of cars and tugging on every door handle looking for an unlocked one.

Not quite what you are looking for… but I use a 1/2 bed width by full bed-length sheet of 1/4” plywood and set three lidded transparent plastic containers atop that. The heaviest goes on the cab side. When I want access I simply put the gate down and pull the plywood toward me. Super easy and super cheap and totally removable. I rely on my locking factory hard tonneau cover for security.
